Decent Calzones - Edit
Freddy's didn't have a ton of options, but they had a vegan pizza/calzone that was pretty decent -- vegan mozzarella, peperonata, arugula, pesto.
Read moreIt came out with a nice and crispy crust, but despite the pesto being left on the side, it still felt almost a little soupy inside.
It was perfectly fine and nice to have the option but definitely not the best of the best vegan calzones that we have had.
Pros: Crispy calzone crust, Presentation
Cons: Calzone consistency, Variety of menu options

Delicious vegan pizza (but only option) - Edit
Updated review 2024: I said 'would return', and I did return here after a 5 year gap. In the interval I have kept a good memory of it and recommended it to other vegans who also enjoyed it. The good news is the pizza is still delicious. The bad news is that it is now the only vegan option on the menu, when previously I had been impressed as a new vegan to actually have options to choose from. I am very disappointed to see regression like this, and so have taken a star off my previous review.

Tasty pizza - Edit
A lot of pizza places (including Italian-run places) complain they can't get cheese right, so they don't bother with cheese. They should all come to Freddy's for a crash course!
Read moreVery tasty, very cheesy pizza. We asked for vegan garlic mayo, and I believe the chef made it up just for us. Great service and cooking from a mostly Italian staff.
Pros: Cheese!

Noice - Edit
I got a veggie burger, which was the standard yknow vegetable patty, but it was good. There was vegan mayo on it and it wasn’t disclosed so I thought it was an animal based sauce however they were very accommodating and checked that it was vegan (it was vegan mayo) chips were lovely like real good stuff there. Defo worth a visit if you don’t wanna spook your meat eatin buds

Great chease - Edit
The staff was very accommodating for vegan options. There aren’t that many options but the ones available are very good. I shared the vegan quesadilla with my non-veg bf then had a margarita pizza with vegan chease which was definitely one of the best I’ve ever had! Not healthy vegan options but very tasty!

Hot, tasty vegan food! - Edit
This is a really good place to visit if dining with a non-vegan. I've visited many times to try the various vegan dishes available (pizza, quesadillas and enchiladas, all with vegan cheese). The food is delicious. It is also great to see vegan options clearly marked on the menu.
Read moreHowever, vegans note:
1) The salad dressing that comes with the side salad served with most dishes isn't vegan.
2) The falafel and chips are cooked in the same oil as the meat.
3) The baby potatoes served with some dinner meals are suitable.
And the venue can feel quite chilly on a cold day - dress warm!
Despite these warnings I really enjoy going to Fat Freddies to dine. Hot, tasty vegan food! Hopefully the other issues will improve with time.

We LOVE Fat Freddies!!!! and the HUMMUS - Edit
you wouldnt expect a place called fat freddies to have any vegan options, BUT not only do they have them even better they are delicious and sooooo satisfying!!! The place it self is on the main street where everything is happening and all the pubs are therefore super easy to find! Its a cute place with lovely people who are super helpful. We had Quesedillas, A pizza with vegan cheese and before that hummus with pita bread as a starter and OMG this hummus is sooooo delicious we came the day after again only for the hummus, woooow!!! the portions are massive so if you usually dont eat a lot youd be perfectly fine with just a main meal but you HAVE to try the hummus especially if you love garlic :D What we couldnt eat in the evening became our breakfast so nothings thrown away. I ABSOLUTELY RECOMMED FAT FREDDIES, the food is nothing for people who wanna eat healthy but if ud like some SUPER DELICIOUS vegan fast food Fat freddies the place for you! And trust me order the hummus, you wont regret it ;-)

Our waitress was knowledgeable about the vegan options on the menu, and that both the crust and sauce base are vegan. They have vegan cheese. The atmosphere was fantastic and the food was delicious. We left happy and it didn't break the bank. Thank you for a great first night in Galway!
