Amazing ice cream but too expensive - Edit
I have spent way too money at Frankie & Jo's. On the one hand, they have objectively some of the best ice cream I've ever tried. (Sticky Sweet in Maine is another top contender.) But I legit feel embarrassed to bring friends here because of the price — a split scoop on a cone costs upwards of $15, which is almost double what it costs at other high-end ice cream places (e.g., Salt & Straw). Kind of wish they wouldn't use so many specialty ingredients (like flax seeds in the waffle cones?) so they could bring the prices down.
Read moreI do really like their soft serve, though. I know they had some trouble with the machine in the summer of 2024, so hopefully that'll be back for next year.
Pros: Delicious
Cons: Too expensive

Wow! So rich and creamy. Perfect consistency. Impeccable flavors. They got this ice cream down to a science.

Favorite ice cream in Seattle! - Edit
I love Frankie & Jo’s! They have such unique flavors that are ALL amazing, and they have the most delicious waffle cones. Their ice cream is also available in containers to go and is even sold in some local grocery stores.

Used to be better. Still decent - Edit
It used to be that no one could top F&J vegan ice cream in my book. A few years ago they slowly switched from cashew based cream to coconut and oat and sometimes a hint of cashew. The consistency and taste is not nearly as good and I know they did it purely for cost reasons which sucks. We’re already paying a premium for their ice cream, it would be nice to be paying for the original cashew based recipe that made them stand out in my opinion. At first they offered coconut for an allergy alternative, and eventually they fully switched and I really miss it.
Read moreAnyway, besides my rant on their base changing they still offer interesting flavors and it’s nice to check out the seasonal ones when they come out but I just don’t crave it or enjoy it as much as I used to. Could just be me!

Gluten-free too?! - Edit
Love it all! Vegan ice cream and gluten free cones, cookies, shortbreads, all fun. They list all ingredients on the menu for each item just in case you have extra dietary concerns - they make it easy! Many fun toppings for extra celebrating.

Very rich - Edit
Some great friends brought me here to cheer me up and it definitely helped! So many interesting flavors and really rich ice cream. Two scoops were a bit too much for me after dinner at cycle dogs, but both flavors I tried (supercookies and cream and a seasonal chocolate flavor) were delicious. The waffle cone was just ok; I'd get it in a cup next time.

Best vegan ice cream - Edit
I had a waffle cone with a split standard scoop of the seasonal passion fruit and jamocha chaga fudge. Soooo good. I usually don’t like coconut milk based ice creams but this was so much better than anything I’ve had before.

Just go here instead of any other ice cream place, trust me. - Edit
This place puts a lot of love into their ice cream. The woman who worked with us at the counter was incredibly patient and bubbly, she let us try all the flavors to our hearts content. The quality of this ice cream kicks any other places ass. We had tahini choc chunk (idk the real name) and charcoal salted caramel was the best. The flavors are extremely complex and worth the stop.

Best Ice Cream Ever! - Edit
Frankie and Jo’s is my absolute favorite ice cream! They have a variety of flavors and three monthly flavors. The monthly flavors are always fun to try! However, their brown sugar vanilla flavor is hands down the best vanilla ice cream I have ever had! I also love this location because it’s easier to get a parking spot and way less crowded than the other two. It also has a cute covered patio in the back you can eat your ice cream in. I take visitors here as often as possible and they are always impressed (vegan or not)!

We’re from LA and do have access to vegan ice cream. Frankie and Jo’s wins hands down for unique, interesting, tantalizing flavors. Super friendly, very clean, and chill environment. Thanks for doing what you do. Currently enjoying the chocolate (best chocolate ever)/pecan pie ice cream. Thank you!

Just purely delightful. - Edit
Those place is such a gem! When you enter the door, the warm smell of freshly made waffle cones embraces you in a warm, scrumptious hug! The decor is so beautiful, and that’s all not even getting to the ice cream (which is definitely some of the best vegan ice cream I’ve ever had) ... I had a scoop of California Cabin and it was soooooo yummy!! I also tried a few other flavors - it was very difficult choosing just one! I have been here before, every time I fall more in love! The cherry on top (no pun intended) is the kind and friendly staff. Great experience every time!

Awesome all vegan ice cream parlor - Edit
Went by here on a visit to Seattle. The vanilla flavor was incredibly rich and the house-made cone matched it perfectly! We also got the mocha fudge flavor which was excellent too. We’ve had vegan ice cream in many US cities and in Europe and this was right up there at the top of our list of awesome vegan ice cream experiences.

Gourmet Vegan Ice Cream Shop in Ballard - Edit
Frankie and Jo’s is quite good with a variety of sophisticated flavors and regular season offerings by the month. Despite being on a quiet street in a residential section of Ballard, it has had a line on each visit. Thankfully the line moves at a decent pace.
Read morePros: It’s a foodie oriented flavor palette, New flavors to try every month
Cons: Portions could be more generous.
