Amazing Korean cuisine - Edit
Glad we got to try this place! I never had duck in my life, but we were recommended to try the Peking “duck” buns, and they were amazing! I would’ve eaten them all day if I could have. For entrees we had spicy franchia noodles and drunken basil noodles, which was my favorite... the sauce was so delicious, and we each had a side pumpkin noodle salad which was also very tasty. We completed the meals with a ginger tea and tangerine tea. Def a place worth recommending and going back!

Bonne bouffe - Edit
Service efficace. Mangé Chef Noodles Soup, bouillon bien assaisonné, bébé Bok choy, brocoli, carottes, champignons, nouilles de sarrasin... bien bon! Options sans gluten variées.

Fantastic Meal! Highly recommend! :) - Edit
Wow! Fantastic Asian food! Hubby and I started by sharing steamed dumplings (sorry no photo. Forgot.) Dipping sauce made them really yummy. We also each had a mug of delicious ginger tea. Then we shared Braised Tofu with Kabocha Pumpkin and Eggplant (So delicious! We cleaned the plate!). Also shared Vegetarian Curry Hot Pot (Hubby loved it. Slightly too spicy for me, but still good.) I had Cheesecake for dessert (Good, but very slightly too sweet for me.) Service was attentive and friendly. Overall, a fantastic meal! Highly recommend! 😊
Read moreHubby and I were in NY for several days and this was the only place that we had to wait to be seated, but the wait was short on a Wednesday night and it was so worth it!😄

Nicest Staff Ever! - Edit
We found this place on Happy Cow while visiting NYC for the first time last weekend. First of all, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Secondly, the atmosphere is warm, cozy and inviting. The food was awesome. We ordered the dumpling sampler and I've never had those combinations, it was great trying something new. The spring rolls and summer rolls were also delicious-all came with different sauces and we mixed & matched. We enjoyed our meals and got dessert too-the cake and pudding were a sweet ending to a fantastic vegan meal.

Terrible, Bland, Boring - Edit
I dont know how this restaurant got 4 stars when there are so many amazing places in NYC. If you're a tourist you might like this, but as a NYC resident this place was so under par. If you care about your tastebuds dont come here.
Read moreI ate here once and will never return. Menu was huge as if they were trying to make every genre of food. Would much rather have had quality over quantity. Food completely lacked flavor and was all around gross. PLEASE do yourself a favor and skip this spot. Ignore these positive ratings, this place is average at best.
Pros: location?
Cons: Food was bad and not creative, Place was gross looking. Sloppy decor. No

My go-to in New York - Edit
I've eaten here pretty much every time I've visited New York (5-6 times a year), often with work colleagues and it has never failed to be anything other than excellent.

After being turned away from Hangawi because we didn’t have a reservation, we called up this place and they were able to seat us! Amazing selection and quality food. My friends who aren’t vegan said that if vegan meat products tasted like this, there’d be no reason to eat meat!

My favorite spot - Edit
I eat at Franchia at least once a week. The spicy crispy eggplant is a favorite of mine. Their soy shrimp is also much better than other places. Make reservations so you don't have to wait. They also deliver to nearby locations.

Had an allergic reaction to dairy at this vegan restaurant - Edit
I have a severe dairy allergy and I had an allergic reaction to the food here that almost put me in the hospital. I ate the crispy scallion pancake, spicy tuna roll, and soy ‘beef’ cutlet bibimbap. I believe the spicy tuna roll was the culprit.
Read moreI asked the manager to see the ingredients for all of the items that I ate, he only brought out one, the filling for the spicy tuna roll, but that was enough to cause concern for someone with a dairy allergy: it was explicitly labeled vegetarian sushi rather than vegan sushi and though contained no dairy itself was “produced in a facility that manufactures milk”.
If you have an allergy to animal products, eat here are your own risk as the restaurant cannot guarantee there is no cross-contamination at the production/factory level.

Wonderful cuisine in a lovely setting - Edit
Everything was fantastic, a slightly different menu than sister restaurant Hangawi. We unfortunately didn't make it there our last trip to NY, and my husband was very upset. It is officially his fave vegan spot in Manhattan. Great staff, and it feels like you're dining in a zen gallery.

Nice menu - Edit
Many wonderful menu options and the food was very nice. It was quite busy, so call ahead to make a reservation! Try some of their teas as well, they had a lovely selection that also listed the purpose/benefit of each tea. I don’t remember what we ordered specifically because the tea really was the highlight for me, but I remember the dinner was lovely, if slightly on the expensive side.

Dishes were a good portion size and filled us up quite nicely. Only negative I can give for this place is the price of the food, but I guess when you’re in New York you can’t be too picky.

Best Vegan Food in NYC - Edit
Our family of three (which includes a 14 yr old) went to Franchia which was not far from where we were staying. There were so many wonderful options to choose from that we had trouble narrowing it down. We wished we could have gone more times while we stayed in NYC. We ordered two of the specials, the drunken basil noodles, sushi, spring rolls, dumplings, tea and their almond mocha cake. Every single item we ordered was amazing. I would definitely go back there in a heartbeat.

come hungry!!! - Edit
It's in your best interest to make reservations to this restaurant in order to avoid any long wait times or possibly getting rushed out of your table. I highly recommend ordering a non-alcoholic Ice Shissandra Chinesis (herbal tea) or any of their fruity cocktails to start things off while you read the menu. The star of our table was definitely the Cauliflower and Lotus Stone Bowl. The Soy 'Meat' and Wonton with Noodles in Vegetable Broth was a close second. The Coconut Tom Yum Rice Noodles came in third and between all the sharing, my group was mad stuffed but we still managed to inhale the Chocolate Mocha Cake. The food here is just that good!

I went here for lunch twice while visiting New York. The prices are reasonable and you get a good amount of food. Everything is really tasty. I was there with four non-vegans and they all were very pleased. The quality of the food is excellent. The decor is also very nice. I want to go back and try more dishes.
