Grand Rapids’ most Famous Brewery

Founders Brewing is THE Grand Rapids brewery. It is the place most people associate with The Beer City. Their products are widely noticeable in supermarkets throughout the Midwest. Unfortunately, the brewery sags under the weight of its noterietay.

The atmosphere of the brewery is what I would classify as the quintessential American brewery interior design: industrial chic. It’s not bad; it’s just medicore. Maybe one day previously it was original, but in a city full of breweries, this layout lacks character.

The few times I have been, the staff has been okay. Usually they are so busy that they do not have time to really build any rapport, and they usually focus on shuffling you out to make room for the next guest in the packed seating area.

As of now, there are no vegan food options on their standard menu. They might have a secret vegan option, but if so, it is hidden.

The drinks are okay. The okayest of okays. If this was the only brewery in town, I would be more kind, but there really is not a beer here that I have had that left an impression on me.

In summary, I would not recommend this brewery for a plant-based patron. There are better locations in the same tier, New Holland Brewery or Bell’s Brewery, that offer better drinks and food.

Great Brewery, has vegan options

Had the vegan chorizo wrap, solid wrap. It was $14 for just the wrap, but it was fairly large. The chips and guac were really good, and they give you a massive portion for $9.

This is a brewery that has a couple vegan options. So I wouldn't go just for vegan food, but as far as great breweries with vegan options, it's a great place to go.

Pros: Great beer, Nice atmosphere , Covered patio

Cons: Only a couple fully vegan options

Nice vegan option

The vegan chorizo wrap was delicious! It was not too spicy and the taste was wonderful. Great to have an option at this grand rapids must visit brewery.

Pros: Great selection of beers, Vegan option was good

Cons: Only one vegan item on the menu

Great beer, ok food

They stopped selling the vegan sloppy joe at this location, which was really delicious. Now they have a tree hugger wrap and salad, which are pretty good but not very filling. The beer is great though

So kind

My family and I had a great experience here after a not so great one. We went here and they knew exactly what the vegan options were. Amazing guac and sloppy joe. I even dropped the half of my sloppy joe I was trying to put in a to go box and they gave me an entire new one free. They were so so kind. And the beer was AMAZING!

Pros: Good beer, Vegan options (labeled or staff knows) , Kindness

Limited but delicious

The vast beer selection makes up for the limited vegan options. But hey they're there at least! I had a vegan sloppy joe, which was very good and super filling. They had a potato salad that was vegan but sadly they ran out of it. (So must be good!) there is a tree hugger sandwich but there is aioli in it, so you'd have to double check if it was made with mayo or not. The mustard was also made with honey so for some (like me) I would omit both and not have any dressing on my sandwich.

Pros: Fun environment

Cons: Limited options

Decent enough

Obviously the beer is the main atraction here (and very good) but they also serve decent food. I had a vegan sandwich which was super tasty and good sized. Decent prices. Table service during the day, in the evening you need to get the food from a counter. Pretty good overall.

Pros: Nice food, Beer!

Cons: Not that many vegan options
