A Hidden Gem!

The co-op not only has your typical vegan grocery options, but they have their own vegan ready-to-eat products as well. We had the vegan macaroni salad and the chocolate pudding and both were delicious.

Unique

Many shelf-stable packaged grocery products are very close to the expiry date. I desire more fresh itema for longer storage. Not many organic options in produce section. Few vegan options in prepared foods cooler (grab-n-go). They do have many grocery items that you can't find anywhere else, although the prices are typically higher compared to the People's Food Co-op

Pros: Wide selection

Cons: Poor produce section

Great store!

I love the Ypsi Food Co-Op! They have a wide variety of things you can't find elsewhere. A good variety of vegan/veg products, as well as other natural foods and a great bulk section. They have wonderful soups (always at least one vegan option!) and sandwiches, and during the holidays are my go-to spot for vegan pies and other desserts.

Pros: Great selection, Discount if you join

Cons: Produce section could be larger

Usual place!

They have a lot of organic stuff that tastes amazing. I go there for my meat substitutes and protein powder. It's small but it's really awesome and not fake like Fresh Thyme

Small grocery with some vegan products

The bulk grains and nuts are an excellent value, and they carry a lot of local produce and products you can't always find at a typical grocery store. I don't do all my shopping here, but it's a good place to stock up on these things.

It's also worth noting that they carry some interesting plant-based proteins in the freezer section, and occasionally have pre-packaged sandwiches and baked goods (muffins, cookies) that are vegan.

Pros: local food

Cons: would like to see more vegan items

My Go-to Grocery Place

I love Ypsilanti Co-op for many reasons. 1. They're in a really convenient location. 2. They've been around for decades. 3. They have a really great, cheap bulk food section. 4. They are a localvore heaven. They have local produce and other food items all year round. 5. The staff is very friendly and helpful. 6. You don't have to be a member to go there, and they have a really good community bulletin board.

It's a lot more authentic than Whole Foods, in my opinion, and it's a great place to shop.
