Non-veg

Serves meat, vegan options available. Two local food carts. The one with the red umbrella and chairs makes Tam (pounded raw cucumber salad) and Veg Vietnamese style spring rolls. They usually put shrimp paste or a fish soy sauce on the salad so point to them and tell her no and 'no spicy' if you dont want it hot. The other cart vendor speaks English. Vegans, if you get there early she can make spring rolls with no egg. She uses fresh greens, carrots, mint, sometimes dried banana blossoms-just depends what she has. Cucumber salad is 10,000 kip and 4 spring rolls with peanut sauce is 5,000 kip. Open Mon-Sun 10:30am-9:00pm.

Ask for gin jay

I had a delicious cucumber salad for 10,000 Kip at a cart in the second walking street, just ask for "gin jay" (means vegan) and explain (just to be sure) no fishing sauce to be used. It was just a cucumber salad though so not a full meal.

Carts change daily it seems

There are usually at least two carts where you can get some vegan or veg options. One lady makes the papaya salad and has Vietnamaese style veg spring rolls-usually. If you get there early she can make them without putting the scrambled egg in. Tell her no shrimp paste and you want it 'jay'=vegetarian. 10,000 kip papaya salad. 5,000 kip 4 spring rolls.

There is also another lady who has various pots and fish. But, she always has at least a couple of vegan dishes either the cooked green papaya, bamboo shoots and pickled veggies and she always has rice. Prices range from 3-5000 kip depending on portion size.

Also, for vegetarians there is often a woman who makes donuts, banana cake, taro cake, and brownies who studied in Vient. Her english is very good and her stuff looks tasty. Donuts/cake 3,000 kip

There are usually plastic tables and chairs out to sit and eat or take the food away.

Pros: VEGAN options, Tasty, Authentic
