fun while it lasted - Edit
I was waiting for a special occasion to visit Follies. When I finally made it there earlier this week, I found out they are closing tomorrow. So if you can afford to, get out and support small vegan businesses.
Read moreBetween 2 of us, we knocked back 3 cocktails, a wine and a spritz. All the drinks were delicious. We also racked up a large stack of sticks. All the pinxos were tasty, our favourites being the arancini, smashed pea crostini, hot roasted peppers, and the meatball.
With 2 big appetites, it was a bit too easy to spend $200. I was happy so see an almost full house there supporting them in their last week of operation. Sad it wasn't enough to keep them afloat. Times are tough!

Lovely venue for drinks and snacks - Edit
Great friendly spot! You head in and grab whatever snacks you want from the selection on the bar and hang on to the sticks in each plate for when you pay at the end. Good range of delicious treats, nice range of cocktails, and just a great atmosphere. However I heard it's closing so get in fast 😢

Funky and fun! - Edit
A fresh way to dine, tapas style and self serve!
Read moreDishes are continuously cooked and brought out throughout the night, you simply head to the counter and pick what you want to bring back to your table. Reserve the toothpicks from the items after eating and your bill is calculated from these!
The ambience is lovely, super seventies carpeted walls and moody warm lighting, all the staff are super friendly and charismatic - and the food is amazing!
Some examples of what you might find include Spanish meatballs, bruschetta 🍅 arancini 🍘 roasted chillies 🌶️🫑 and a fully vegan drinks list.
Get as much or as little as you want, you can try every single dish once (if you’re really hungry 🤩) or get four serves of the same thing, super cool.
Pros: Friendly people, Decor and ambience , Novel selection
Cons: Little bit on the $$$ side

Drinkies & bites - Edit
A good place for a drink and a couple of bites before moving on. The larger bites (which are not particularly large) are $7 each, so if you're planning to make a meal of it, it will add up pretty quickly. In saying that, the food is well prepared and tasty. The meat ball in particular, was very good. The spanakopita was also delicious. The staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Great cocktails, great food - Edit
Slightly strange buffet style antipasti but all very tasty. We arrived slightly later in the evening and were told that there wasn’t much food left but we still managed to try most things. The food was all very tasty and we had had a large lunch so weren’t very hungry making the antipasti style prefect for us. If you are looking for a full meal then this is maybe not the place. (You definitely could eat your fill but it would be fairly pricey to do so).
Read moreThe meatball and the Spanish omelette were particularly delicious.
The cocktails were also very nice and the staff were really friendly. Overall would definitely recommend.

Amazing atmosphere - Edit
I would really recommend this place if you are in the area or are just wanting some cocktails. I really liked all the food but it can add up if you have a big appetite! They have a bottomless lunch which I think would be well worth it. It was a really lovely vibe and atmosphere and will be definitely coming back again. We came in a standard day so just the normal food no specials etc. But was still delicious.

Very trendy Tapas bar in Fitzroy that has regular ‘Arancini Nights’.
Read moreDelicious Tapas, we loved the meatballs. I tried every Arancini on the menu and we loved most of them. My favourite was the ‘Sunday roast’ Arancini 🤤🤤

It was ok - Edit
I should have read the reviews more carefully as I’d assumed there was a small menu but the food is at the bar and you choose your options. I arrived first and I asked if I could be moved from the table with stools to something my height could cope with. They were nice and said yes. My friend arrived shortly after but I needed to ask about the ordering process because I heard it explained to others but not us.
Read moreSo we didn’t need to get up, we ordered the fondue special. The fondue was cheesy and I particularly liked the vegan sausage.
It was nice enough but probably not my kind of place. Still it was a nice evening.

Fun experience - Edit
Great place to go for a quick bite, really friendly owner/manager.
Read moreThe highlights were the patatas bravas (the sauce was delicious, not spicy at all) however it was sprinkled with dry, dense chickpea type things.
I almost didn't get the smashed pea, mozzarella, and mint crostini, but it turned out to be my favourite crostini, and one of the best things of the night, very fresh tasting. The bread on all the crostini wasn't crispy, more chewy, which was a bit of a let down.
The meatball in red wine sauce was very good, with a nice thin crispy coating, in a very enjoyable sauce.
It all ended up a little pricey once I had eaten enough to feel satisfied.
Pros: Friendly service
Cons: Bread wasn't crispy, A bit pricey

Fun place to grab a bite! - Edit
I love the idea of choosing a few little snacks to eat with friends. We came by around lunch and it was buzzing and I'm sure it's even better for drinks. They also do an unlimited/ bottomless brunch which I'd love to come back for. The food was delicious and flavourful, and just the right amount. The people there were so so lovely too!

Folly vegan bar - Edit
Like many others in the neighbourhood, no doubt, I was e cited to see a new completely vegan bar opening. I booked a table for the following weekend and we went there for an early dinner. The bar fits right in with the strip of eateries on Johnston Street between Brunswick and Nicholson (JoBrunNic?) We were met warmly as we arrived and seated in the nicely laid out rear section. The process was explained to us and, after ordering a cocktail, we investigated the buffet and took at least one of pretty much every savoury dish there. Almost everything was delicious, with the standout for me being the Italian meatball, but the dolma and the smashed pea crostini were divine too. The letdown was the conchiglione: dried out and hard without a lot of flavour to compensate for the unpleasant texture. We declined to have dessert, although there were two options when we were there. While the food was generally very good and the decor, atmosphere and service nice too, of course the price adds up, but possibly no more than a starter and main in an à la carte restaurant. The cocktails made up a big chunk of our bill, but there are plenty of other drink options. For me this would be a place just for a drink (after all, it is a bar) and perhaps a snack, or maybe a dinner on an occasion.
