I am very glad that I asked to visit this place thanks to the community. Considering the location and the places I walk through, I would never have known about it.

Little taste of home - Edit
It’s a little tricky to find this place because you have to go down a few alleyways, but once you’re there it feels like a warm oasis in the middle of the city. The owners were so friendly and welcoming. They speak both English and Japanese. The food was amazing! I normally find gluten free bread/baked goods to be very dry, but they have cracked the code here on how to keep everyone moist and delicious! It felt like western food with a Japanese influence. It was a perfect little taste of home after traveled around Japan for a while. Highly recommend!

Absolutely Adorable - Edit
It looks, sounds and tastes like some lost indie film from the 2000s. Absolutely loved it! The hosts are delightful and the food is immaculate! Almost a shame my waistline won't let me try all the cakes but the miso brownie was immaculate

One of the best vegan spots I’ve found in 10+ years here - Edit
Wow! This one is easy to miss but you really owe it to yourself to stop by. I’ve lived in Japan before and still visit often, found this while on a recent trip. It’s probably the best vegan cafe I’ve been to in Japan in a long time. They’ve apparently been doing pop-ups or selling at markets for years so I assume locals must know about them.
Read moreThey mentioned that the menu rotates so I don’t want to pin expectations on dishes, but their (gluten free) homemade bread and approach to food is amazing. The desserts case is also 100% dangerous because it’s all great - tofu cheesecake hits closer to non-vegan cheesecake than many I’ve found, the cookies are amazing, etc. The coffee is also good, and they clearly care about making good coffee (in a country that frankly still can’t always get it right).
Just go here, trust me.
Pros: Amazing staff, Incredible bread, Good vibes

Fabulous food and cafe - Edit
We went for an early lunch. I had an iced cafe latte with the reuben sandwich set. This came with a soup and the most delicious focaccia. The filling was tasty, the salad was nice and the soup was good too. My iced cafe latte was strong which I like but not too strong. My partner had the pumpkin bread French toast. I tried some and this was another amazing meal.
Read moreWe also bought a chocolate chip cookie to take away. Oh my goodness, this was perfect. Soft and delicious. Wow! Should have bought them all.
The cafe was gorgeous and the staff really kind. I wished we were staying longer as I would have visited again.

We really enjoyed our visit to Folksaka. It's nicely tucked away but still reachable from Umeda on foot. Enjoyed all the food and drinks we had but our favourite was their french toast.

My favourite place to eat in Osaka - Edit
Their pop-ups were my absolute favourite place to eat in Osaka for years and they finally have their own cafe. Their cakes are beyond amazing making this the best vegan and gluten free spot in all of Osaka.

Located in a modernized Japanese house that kept the spirit from back in the day, the local vegan legends of Folksaka have created a perfect bakery / restaurant hybrid that is the perfect setting for yummy brunches. They have won my heart with their popups, and I'm beyond thrilled to have such an amazing vegan place in Osaka!
