Delicious meal at this cozy all vegan cafe - Edit
Based on other reviews I thought this was a vegetarian cafe, but it’s 100% vegan!
Read moreWe started with the Mac n cheese, crabbie cakes, and biscuit sliders, but once we saw other people’s order of hush puppies we had to order one as well. My personal favorites were the crabbie cakes and sliders, but we all had different favorites.
We shared the oyster mushroom entree which was incredible and unlike anything I’ve had before. Then ended with the salad and purple sweet potato cheesecake, which is a must if you like cheesecake.
To top it off we shared a delicious bottle of natural wine. If you have time check out their bottle shop next door!
Pros: Delicious food, Friendly owners, Great natural wine selection

Sunday Brunch........ I had the Grits & Grillades, That was an awesome dish! Also a side dish of Cauliflower (it was battered and deep fried) the side was 4 peices, I thought it would be greasy and heavy. It was not.
Just wish they were open more days and longer hours. We come to the area and would like to eat here all the time.

Fog Eater Cafe has been on our radar for some time and each time we would miss the day. They are open Wednesday - Saturday for dinner. We did some planning to pull this off this time. Must have had a dozen emails from Haley about our reservation. It’s so nice to go to a restaurant that you don’t have to ask about food and the ingredients. It’s all vegan! Except the eggs on brunch🤦🏼♂️ We were able to sit inside cause we were vaxed🤫 So many choices. Ended up splitting the pumpkin curry soup, veggies of day, mashed potatoes and gravy, Buffalo cauliflower sliders, focaccia bread with mushrooms, and to top it off the beignets with chocolate sauce and pear butter. Everything was prepared so well. One of the best meals I’ve had. Looking forward to coming back.

Everything was excellent - Edit
Had the corn fritters and the fried mushroom steak. Also the cheesecake. I’d get them all again. A bit pricey but worth it to support an excellent local vegan business!

Yummy southern vegan - Edit
Definitely amazing choice in a dearth of vegan options. Classic southern cuisine with a vegan twist… and tons of gluten free options. We had the fried green tomatoes, zucchini soup (of the day), the fried blue oyster, crabbie cakes (slightly on the mushy side - flavor was amazing though), Mac and cheese. 😋😋😋

12 out of 10! - Edit
Best vegan experience we have ever had. We had the crab patties, spring salad, king trumpet plate, pot pie, kiwi lime pie and the beignets. Every bite was more amazing than the last. We are staying at the Stanford inn and the fog eater cafe puts them to shame.

Raven's Move Over! - Edit
The only non vegan item is deviled eggs. This is got to be the best place in Mendocino besides Ravens restaurant. The Creole Mac and cheese is to die for.

Solid vegan brunch choices - Edit
Great service and atmosphere. The food was really good, though the portions were on the small side for me. Had two dishes, an app and desert. Waitresses were extremely efficient with coffee refills. Would recommended, even if it’s on the pricier side for the portion size, though everything in Mendocino is a bit pricey.

Super yummy and creative southern vegan menu (the waitress shared that the only non vegan item is an egg option at brunch only. The fried green tomatoes were crunchy and delicious and we loved our to go dessert (we were too full to eat there!)

Dreamy little coastal cafe with mind-blowing food - Edit
We had the southern plate and the fried oyster mushroom, and both were awesome. We also had the “fancy soda” which had chamomile and rhubarb with fresh flowers on top! There were also delightful little arrangements of fresh local flowers at each table. The best part was dessert! Best strawberry rhubarb pie of my life and fluffy beignets with home made vegan lemon curd!

Visit First and Last - Edit
My wife and I visited Mendocino for our honeymoon, and we were fortunate enough to find Fog Eater Cafe for dinner. We enjoyed the food so much that we came back two more times, once more for dinner and a second time for a wine flight. While the wine flight was okay, the quality of the food and warm service was phenomenal. Walking in, the dining room is small yet cozy with a short counter for drinks while you wait. The color scheme is vibrant and inviting, the restroom was immaculate, and the outdoor dining area was just as cozy on the inside. I can only imagine how relaxing it would be on a warm summer evening. Service was prompt and polite each time we visited. And the food was definitely on point. Hot and fresh from the kitchen, we ordered almost every item on the menu between our visits and were not disappointed in the least.

Amazing southern food! - Edit
My husband and I visited Mendocino for 5 days. We went to Fog Eater 3 times!! We both lived in North Carolina for several years, so we know southern food. This place hits all the marks! Everything we tried was amazing, but if you only have one opportunity to go- definitely try the beignets and pimento cheese.

The greatest discovery of my day in Mendocino - Edit
I always go “window shopping” in Mendocino when on my annual camping trip and since going vegan, finding places to eat on my trip can be challenging. Not anymore! I can’t wait to visit Fog Eater Cafe again and feast on all of their vegan menu items.
Read moreAt first, I thought that I could only get the crabby patty’s, because I’m so used to menus showing their (V+) code for vegan items, which this menu didn’t have any of. I was then told that everything on the menu was vegan (even though it doesn’t say that anywhere), so I ordered additional items and I’m so glad I did. I cannot recommend this place enough. Treat yourself, go all out and feast on the delicious vegan plates at Fog Eater cafe.
Pros: Fun ambiance , Great food, Friendly staff
Cons: Needs to list what’s vegan and what isn’t

Pretty tasty and reasonable prices - Edit
My partner and I went for dinner on a Thursday evening and sat at the single small table they had in front of the cafe with our dog. They indicated it was the only dog friendly seating they had available.
Read moreThe servers were super nice though and took care of us swiftly. Food came out pretty quickly as well.
The menu had no indication of it, but we were told by the server that everything was vegan on it that evening. She said only brunch on Sundays served eggs but that overall the menu for dinner has been totally vegan recently.
We got the buffalo cauliflower sliders and hush puppies from the starters menu and then an entree of BBQ Lima beans, cornbread, creole Mac and cheese, and when the plate came out it also had three large grilled chiles.
The sliders were delicious and I loved the hush puppies. I was less into our entree overall (my partner really liked the Mac and cheese) but the real winner for me was dessert.
For $12 my partner was served three large beignet with two sauces liberally sprinkled with powdered sugar. For $10 I was served a large slice of golden beat cake with almond cream cheese frosting and a sour cherry sauce on top. It was delicious. Also it is now hands down the best vegan cream cheese frosting I've had.
We're planning on going again for sure.
Pros: Fully vegan menu , Reasonable prices, Delicious
Cons: Smaller selection

Says Vegetarian but actually the menu was all vegan. - Edit
This is a lively place to have a completely plant based meal, and there is an adjacent shop with specialty items for takeaway and picnics plus a large wine collection. We started with a steamed artichoke with a lemon aioli. We had an amazing vegetable pot pie and bbq Lima beans, braised greens and their vegetable of the day: roasted beets with avocado. We were quite full but couldn’t resist the pie of the day to take home: a strawberry rhubarb, which was as excellent!
