Top spot for vegan pizza - Edit
Let’s face it, vegan pizza can be sort of a let down but not here! Flying Saucer makes lots of different vegan pies and let’s you create your own. The staff is kind and gives everyone a vegan menu so you don’t have to go out of your way to ask. There’s always specials and they are great about substitutions! Go on a Tuesday night for trivia :))

Lots of vegan options but the cheese is a let down - Edit
There’s a whole separate vegan menu here with options to build your own pizza too. Unfortunately I just found the cheese a bit too sloppy, but the restaurant atmosphere is nice to take a break from Salem sight seeing.

Amazing! - Edit
Great service! If you’re coming in October it is about a 30-45 min wait. But they move along quickly and serve the food quickly !

Conflicting - Edit
This has always been my favorite pizza place as a vegan, to the point that I’m disappointed getting pizza anywhere else. That being said, flying saucer HAS made mistakes and given me real cheese on my vegan pizza on a few occasions. And even more recently, I got take out and got home to eat my pizza and it was completely burnt, the slice just snapped right in half. I wasn’t able to go back to the restaurant to get a new pizza so they said they’d give me a refund. It took days to get a refund so my boyfriend emailed them as we didn’t want to give them a bad review as accidents do happen. We never got a response to the email explaining the situation, until emailing them yet again. I don’t know, maybe it’s just going down hill because they know they’ll get tourists as customers, but very disappointing to a regular that lives locally.

Fun vegan pizza options - Edit
I shared a large Vegan Nick Fury (mac and cheese, buffalo chik'n) pizza with my non-vegan brother. It was good—nice and deliciously unhealthy. You can get a vegan slice of the week (1/4 large pizza) for $6. When I went, it was red sauce, mozzarella, and pineapple.

Evening snack in Salem - Edit
We arrived late in Salem and got to the restaurant 40 minutes before closing time. We still got something warm to eat. The mac and cheese and Brussels sprouts were very delicious. The pizza didn't taste quite fresh, but was ok. It was just before closing time. The ambience (a Gillian Anderson autograph, Star Wars and Star Trek stuff 😀) was cool and the staff were very nice. Definitely a good vegan option in the late evening.

Love it - Edit
This was my second time here, having gone around 2017 last time (Not sure why this app says “might be closed” in 2024). Both times were great! I shared vegan garlic knots and a build your own pizza with my partner and a friend, and we all loved it. We also loved the spacey, nerdy decor and theme.

The pizza was just ok but I love the many vegan options. Had better vegan pizza though. The cheese was melted well but made the pizza a little mushy.

We ordered takeout last night from Flying Saucer. We ordered tots, garlic knots and a pizza. We arrived within 5-10 minutes of our ready notification. Tots and pizza were cold. Garlic knots were hot, but didn’t have any garlic. Would not recommend.

I had the Vegan Nick Fury pizza, and it was spectacular 😍 I’ve never had such good pizza. it was a little messy to eat, as the toppings were heavy, but it was delicious :))💗

We tried the vegan pickle rick and vegan nick fury. Both were amazing but I slightly preferred the pickle rick. I want to go back to try all their options.
Read moreMy boyfriend said this was the best vegan pizza he's ever had (I still have that spot reserved for 20th Street Pizza in Philly).
The crust was phenomenal, perfectly crispy and chewy. I could eat it everyday. Only con was that the entire pizza was oddly very greasy.
Vegan spaceballs were delicious, highly recommend. Don't miss out on them.
Expensive but worth every penny.
We got the order to go because it started raining when we were in line. We had our dogs with us so we asked to sit at the patio table. The waiter gave us two napkins to wipe down the wet chairs and table.
He then looked at me like I had 5 heads when I asked for more to dry everything. He begrudgingly went back inside to give us a couple more.
Wish they supplied umbrellas for their outdoor seating.
Pros: Vegan options, Dog friendly, Fun menu names

YES!! Such a great find! - Edit
There is an entire extensive vegan menu. Pizzas are thin and amazing and unique. Pizza of the day is a good idea. I got the Nick Fury pizza (small) and split it with my mom (nonvegan) she loved it! It had mozzarella cheese, Alfredo sauce, scallions, bbq breaded chicken, and Mac and cheese! So good! You can also create your own pizza. The decor is also cool and the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. Great location. Right in middle of downtown.

Tons of vegan options, unpredictable QC and service - Edit
Great pizza, excellent options for people with dietary restrictions. Sometimes quality control has been hit or miss with takeout (skimp on the toppings, usually) but usually good with dine in. However, TERRIBLE SERVICE. Unbelievably rude 75% of the time for the past year or two. I’ve been a fairly regular customer for over ten years (since 2012!) and the staff used to be amazing — some of the best in town. What happened? Quick turnaround? Apathetic college kids? Also very pricey now, which would be whatever if the staff wasn’t so rude and indifferent.
Read moreTourists will keep going here because of the location but hey, good way to lose your local regular customer base…
Have ended up with several mediocre pizzas in the past two years which is disappointing because it’s pretty expensive and it used to be so great.
Please keep in mind their vegan menu is still extremely impressive for the area but the QC and staffing really knocks it down a bit. Hopefully this can be remedied in the future.
