Horrible experience on June 9. 2022! My wife has celiac disease (gluten is poison to her.) We both ordered the Flora's Summer Salad with chicken at 12:50. Before we ordered asked the front counter if it was gluten-free and was told yes.

The salad arrived and looked great. My wife noticed that the chicken appeared to be dressed with a teriyaki or soy based dressing or glaze. Asked again what was in the dressing. The server went back to ask and returned saying it contained honey and other ingredients that are gluten-free. Again asked once more if soy or teriyaki was a base and was told no.

My wife generally shows symptoms of being poisoned by gluten within 5 minutes of eating something that contains gluten. These symptoms include painful gas, burping, vomiting, and fatigue for days. She took a few bites of the salad and within a few minutes started burping. Asked the server to remake salad without the dressing or sauce. About 15 minutes pass and server returns with a new salad with the same dressing/sauce. We said please remake without sauce. After about an hour from the time of order, my wife's symptoms continued to get worse. At one time needed to excuse herself to the WC to vomit. We asked a number of times for her remade meal with no success.

After about 1.5 hours from the time of order we returned to the counter to ask where her meal was. At that time it appeared that we were the joke of the restaurant. A cook and someone tending to coffee proceed to laugh at her as she asked for her meal. A kind server asked what they could do for us and at that time asked for a refund. They provided a cash refund. It was very disappointing and unprofessional that the staff would find it laughable that they poisoned her.

Sadly we had to return to our hotel for the remainder of the day due to her being poisoned. Hard day being on our last day on holiday and not be able to enjoy Reykjavik.

If you have celiac disease or gluten intolerance don't eat here. Unfortunately at this restaurant the staff does not care about the health of their patrons.
