Serves meat, vegan options available. This busy restaurant houses a large clay oven, and you can watch pizzas being made. Menu offers several flat bread pizzas, an organic salad with option of add-ons, drinks, and dessert with egg & dairy. All pizzas contain dairy except for one red sauce vegan pizza, labeled as "vegan, no cheese." Plenty of seating but expect a long wait at meal time. Open Mon-Thu 11:00am-9:00pm, Fri-Sun 11:00am-9:30pm.

Good food, great staff - Edit
I tried the vegan pizza minus the spinach (I don’t like cooked spinach). It was really good! They use Daiya cheese here. The waiter (Nico) was super nice and kept on top of checking in to see if I was enjoying the food and if I needed anything else. Anyway, I was craving something uhhh, less healthy I guess, so I’m glad I came because it really hit the spot. I got their small size and was barely able to finish half, so I’ll have a full meal leftover. For $20, that’s not bad!

Vegan & Gluten Free Pizza - Edit
I was able to get a delicious vegan pizza and mai tai and my wife got a gluten free vegan pizza. Was sooo tasty and filling. Who knew you could find gluten free vegan pizza in Maui!?!

Helpful Staff - Edit
The wood-fired crust was authentic and tasty, but the pizza only had mushrooms & tomatoes, plus maybe 2 pieces of onion. I've had a vegan, cheese-less pizza from the grocery store that was better.

Eh - Edit
We stayed in Paia for a week and decided to try pizza for dinner one night. They don’t have any vegan cheese or meat options so it’s just sauce and veggies. It wasn’t very special or flavorful and I wouldn’t recommend going out of your way to try this place. It’s a good option I suppose if you’re with non-vegans and want a place everyone can eat, but if you’re only going for vegan pizza you might be disappointed.

Great Flatbread - Edit
Stopped in for lunch, minimal wait and a good vibe inside. Had one specific vegan pizza on the menu without cheese, but I’m sure you could make any type of combination you want.

Delicious vegan pizza - Edit
We go here as a family every time we’re in Maui & love it. The house salad is one of my favorites! They have a delicious no-cheese pizza on the menu, loaded with spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes & caramelized onion. No need for any (vegan) cheese. Great place for kids too. Fun vibe. Service is always friendly & fast.

Hidden vegan options - so delish - Edit
While in Paia, we stopped here because there was a vegan flatbread option on the menu, and by this point was so over having the beyond burger be my only option besides side salads. Our waitress was vegan herself and let me know that they do very simple substitutions on any flat bread and 2 of her faves were non vegan menu options with some tweaks. I went for the pesto pizza without cheese and it was amazing. YEAH, vegan pesto. Their main salad is vegan, as is their dressing and bbq sauce.

Pretty bland oily pizza - Edit
Vegan pizza on menu (no cheese), pretty soggy in the centre and very sparse on the toppings, pretty much just mushrooms and a little tomato. Nice dough though. Quick service, friendly staff but wouldnt come again. Over priced

Was PACKED when we walked by, so had to see what the fuss was about! - Edit
We stopped in Pa’ia on our way back from a busy morning volunteering at Leilani Farm Sanctuary, and we’re starving! When walking around town, we came across this place which we found through Happy Cow, and it was packed! Naturally we went in. Two hungry vegans shared a 16-inch vegan pizza, which had lots of mushrooms, herbs, and other veggies on a flatbread. It was one of those vegan pizzas that was so good it didn’t need any kind of cheese substitute. Definitely recommend getting a side of sauce to dip with, as it was delicious!

amazing gf vegan pizza! - Edit
My husband and I stayed in Paia for 9 days, and went here 4 times because it was so good we always wanted to return instead of trying something new and it not being as amazing as the flatbread company! I'm allergic to eggs, dairy, and wheat and I'm also vegan but I never felt deprived here. They have vegan gf dough and delicious sauces and toppings sourced locally. Their salads are amazing and my hubby enjoyed their beer selection. I can't recommend this place enough if you are in Maui!

Excellent salad and great flatbread - Edit
A local recommended this place as having the best salad on the island -- after trying it, we agreed that it was the best salad we'd had on our (albeit limited) visit: mesclun and sweet leaf lettuces, shredded green papaya, carrots, toasted sesame seeds, sprouts, and pineapple vinaigrette. Highly recommended.
Read moreIn addition to the salad, we split a 12" vegan flatbread and added pineapple to it -- very satisfying after a day of swimming and snorkeling. They had a vegetarian special of the day that they could make vegan by removing the cheese; we didn't try that one.
The staff was friendly and attentive. Would definitely visit again.
Pros: Excellent salad, Great flatbread, Friendly staff
Cons: Wish there were more vegan options

Perfect way to end Road to Hana - Edit
We stopped here to finish off our Road to Hana day because we didn't think we could make it back to our Kaanapali area hotel without stopping for dinner. It was a 20 minute wait at prime dinner time but definitely worth it! Started with a salad with pineapple dressing that was delicious. They have a vegan pizza clearly marked on the menu (no cheese), and it was really good! I added pineapple to my half - highly recommend. They are also able to accommodate tree nut allergies, they wrapped the pizza in foil to cook it for my boyfriend. Food came out quickly and our server was very friendly and helpful. One of my favourite Maui meals!

awesome atmosphere! - Edit
This restaurant was a blast, watching the staff flip the dough, chefs moving the pizzas with the paddle, watching the fire, and live music. This dining experience was a blast. Vegan flatbread pizza and salad was delicious. I agree with previous comments that the pineapple vinaigrette was awesome we asked for more to dip our crust in it. The cocktails were also creative and mixed well.

Sometimes you just *gotta* have some pizza, and this brick-oven place will satisfy that itch!
Read moreWe brought our own daiya from the local natural food market and they didn't blink--perhaps others have done that too. They did a good job applying it to a custom-ordered pie (too much and you ruin the pie), but the menu's already vegan pesto pizza was the table's favorite. Good salads too.

Family favourite! - Edit
We always come here at least once each visit to Maui. There is something for everyone in our family: omni, veg, and vegan. I am crazy about their salad with pineapple vinaigrette and always get their vegan pizza but add local pineapple to it. They seem to be very community minded as well, judging by all of the thank you pictures on the walls. It can be a little hectic, but you just need to get into the Maui mood and enjoy the local vibe. Wood fire pizza oven in the middle of the restaurant is pretty cool.

Bring your own vegan cheese - Edit
I had read about this place on happycow, and have eaten here twice on two separate trips to Maui. Was just here in December 2012, and here's my Flatbread Pizza review.
Read moreFlatbread Pizza Paia is located in the heart of Paia town where all the tourists and nearby residents like to come for food and shopping. The interior is very casual, a bit rustic and dim, with a large dome-shaped clay oven to one side of the room. Plenty of seating inside plus a covered back patio.
The menu is concise, just salads, pizzas, desserts, and drinks. On the pizza section of the menu, most all contain dairy with the exception of only one labeled as "Vegan pizza (no cheese)."
The first time here I had the vegan pizza without cheese, and it was okay though a bit dry and not particularly exciting. It consisted of pizza bread on the bottom, topped by a thin layer of red marinara sauce, then fresh tomato slices, mushroom, caramelized sweet onion, and avocado slices. I enjoyed the onions as it gave the pizza a sweet flavor.
The second time here, we brought our own un-opened bag of Daiya Cheese (vegan) that we had purchased from Mana Foods just up the street. The kitchen two 16-inch pizzas with this cheese, and it came out just perfect--not too cheezy or oily. The topping this time around was different. Avocado was not on the ingredients list for the vegan pizza. Also, the price went up slightly to $19.50 each.
Note that the pizza with pesto is NOT vegan.
I'also had the organic salad, which is vegan suitable, and that was alright. It came with had a light and tangy vinagrette dressing, plus romaine greens, shredded papaya, carrots. It was small but enough for 2 people to share as an appetizer.
Vegetarians who eat cheese will have several pizzas from which to choose, but vegans have only one. We asked why they don't offer vegan cheese, and the response we got was, "We're corporate. I don't know."
Overall, our second time eating here was better than the first.
Pros: can bring your own vegan cheese, good pizza crust, prompt service
Cons: long wait on weekends

best pizza in maui! - Edit
If I were to drive the Hanna highway again I'd call ahead and get the vegan pizza (minus onions and garlic oil: personal preference) for the trip. This is the best pizza I've had in memorable history, its loaded with locally grown maui tomatoes, spinach, mushhrooms and spices. Its all organic and the 16" is HUGE! Its super afordable, too! 26$ for two people including a delightful fresh lemonade. They slice it in super thin ribbons which makes it great for eating while driving :)a. Service was awesome, the fire place where they cook the pizzas is super cool, too.

super diggity vegan pie, tropical salad - Edit
The pie is very tasty. It emphasized local produce, avo, famous Maui onions, tomato, and is perfectly baked in the clay oven. The salad has a great dressing, I think it had lillikoi in it, was topped w seaweed, shredded papaya, and was bountiful, more than enough for two to share. We had lillikoi lemonades. It was awesome.
Read moreWe stopped here for takeout after that first day when passing through Paia, it is on the Hana Hwy. The box shows other locations, a few in the NE, Ptd, ME and so forth. It is not a "chain" as the other reviewer might prtray; I doubt the one in Ptd ME has lillkoi dressing and lemonade or uses fresh Maui produce.
Good stuff. Cool vibe in the place too; nice folks.
Pros: goooood pizza
