Scrambled tofu not available - Edit

We were looking forward to the scrambled tofu but the section of the menu that had some nice vegan options was not available. ☹️

Pros: Menu has some nice vegan options

Cons: Vegan options not available when we went

OK-eish burger - Edit

Not spoiled for lunch options in Warrnambool, I opted for a Lentil Burger at Fishtales. It was not a bad burger but nothing special. If you need a quick vegan fix, that is a good place. Many vegan options

Pros: Vegan options, atnospheric place

Cons: Decenrt but not mindblowing

Ask to cook seperate - Edit

Tofu burger normally cooked on same grill as meat ask to be cooked seperate, same as falafels cooked with fish in the fryer

Pros: Vegan options, Large menu, Tasty

Cons: Must ask tofu and falafels to be cooked seperate

Amazing cafe with lots of vegan options, friendly staff and great courtyard. - Edit

Amazing vegan selection. When the covid restrictions was eased in regional Victoria, we came to Warrnambool for the weekend. We got out dinner here and the lentil burger I had was very tasty. Also, after doing research for vegan breakfast the next day, this place had the most options that we could find. So glad we came here. We sat out in the courtyard with our kids due to seating restrictions but worked really well coz we got to have our own space with the kids being loud. We really enjoyed this cafe. Also, very friendly staff 😊

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Generous serves, Friendly staff

Cons: Nothing.

Little gem - Edit

Such a lovely place to eat, with loads of options for vegans and veggies. Reasonably priced and the staff were so lovely throughout!

Nice vegan selection - Edit

Plenty to options already vegan or easily made vegan. And there was practically every type of food on the menu. Staff were knowledgeable and friendly. Had a lovely smoothie and rainbow stir fry. The portion size was perfect and tahini dressing was Devine! Would love to go back to explore more of the menu.

Very slow service - Edit

The menu is huge and a bit confusing - really not that obvious what is vegan and what's just veg. I had a tofu burger which was pretty sad looking. No vegan ice cream for shakes. The table number system also seemed to break down with staff wandering between tables trying to locate the orderee.

Quiet delicious dinner - Edit

Had quiet dinner before a gig here. Plenty seating, friendly helpful staff.
Great food - extensive selection! Had a simple stirfry with tofu but it was very nice!
And a lovely soy hot chocolate too. One of the micest I have had in a long time.

Pros: Variety, Open for dinner, Eclectic

Cons: Not open really late

Good but BEWARE - Edit

I was a bit dubious about finding vegan dishes at a place called Fishtales cafe, however I found the restaurant through this app. The staff where very helpful, BEWARE I did confirm the wedges and chips are cooked in the same oil as the meat products. I ordered the falafel burger with a side of salad, burger was pretty good, salad was just your average salad really. I have added photos of the menu; note the majority of it is meat but I though I would include all pages so you can see what your in for, as you can see though it is quite an extensive menu with something for everyone

Pros: Staff helpful, fast service, vegan options

Cons: Mainly meat menu, some otherwise vegan options cooked in same oil as

Worth looking past the name - Edit

True - I would not have ventured into Fishtales if it were not for HappyCow. But I am glad we did.
The menu is massive, and covers many different cuisines; from burgers to curries, salads to noodles... almost too many choices.
Ask about vegan options, they are very obliging. I had a tofu burger, and asked if they could do it tandoori style. They were more than happy. It was nice, fresh and not unlike something I might make myself at home.
There is courtyard seating out the back (which smelt like fish the day we were there), as well as outdoor seating at the front (you could bring the dog) and inside. Service is friendly. I wouldn't rave about the food, but you do have options, including fresh juices. Which is nice considering it's pretty limited otherwise in Warrnambool.

Plenty of Options! - Edit

Fishtales has many vegan options and the staff are so friendly. They are more than happy to make vegan options on request. My husband had a falafel burger with chips and I ate a delicious lentil burger with peanut butter spread! There is also a glass case with a vast array of raw desserts. If you come to Warrnambool and feel limited for options, please go to Fishtales!

Pros: Plenty of options!

Cons: Cant think of any!
