Great food

My first time trying ‘fish’ and chips, the fish are made out of tofu and seaweed and deepfriend, there are also many gluten free options, dairy free milkshakes were a hit too!

Unexpected find!!!

Coming across a place in the small town of Sidney that not only had vegan options but really delicious ones was a thrill. Hits the spot for greasy fish and chips, which is a popular dish in the area. Surprised by how much I liked the vegan options!

I love this place 🐠❣️

An impressive amount of vegan options, for food and drink. Everything that is vegan is clearly marked on the menu, and it really feels like they understand. I’ve had the fish & chips several times and it’s delicious! A special treat when I’m in the area 😋

Vegan fish and chips!

I am a flight attendant with a layover in Sidney and was amazed to find this small little gem of a restaurant having so many vegan options! I got the single piece not cod with fries and coleslaw and it was amazing #Veganuary

Surprising number of Vegan options

Great casual place to go with a group. Lots of vegan alternatives for both fish and chicken. There are gluten-free options as well as all of the traditional fried fish classics for the omnivores in your group. They even have vegan shakes and desserts.

"Fish"-and-chips and soft-serve ice cream

I had the good, vegan Filet of Phish (tofish cheezburger) with fries and vegan coleslaw. A satisfying meal. In good weather, the outdoor seating would be the place for you if you don’t like the smell of fish. The Dole Whip pineapple soft-serve vegan ice cream is delicious! Just $3.95 for a cup or cone. Vegan vanilla soft-serve also available, which is soy-based and used for their vegan milkshakes (I later had the Black Forest Cake flavour, made with the chocolate ice cream). It's great that they have a separate vegan menu - and “all the items in green type can be made vegan.” Some local Phillips beers on tap - at a very good price for 20 ounces.
Edited to add: I later had occasion to speak with Felicia, the manager/chef (owner?) about ingredients. The burger buns are from Dempster's and are confirmed as vegan. The tartar sauce, aioli dip and coleslaw use vegan mayo. Because Felicia has strong allergies herself, she and the staff are very cautious and conscious of ingredients and cross-contamination. (Only the chowder has dairy. The only meat item, beef patties, are grilled on a separate grill. The fish is grilled with oil, not butter.)
I will continue to enjoy eating at Fish on Fifth. (Five stars not allowed for non-vegan eateries, so four it is.)

Tasty, fast, friendly

Really enjoyed my meal, as did my omni, gf dining companion- lots of selection and knowledgeable wait staff

Understand veganism

I have been here a few times and what shines above all (in addition to the food if you like fried foods) is that the staff is very sensitive and accommodate the needs of vegans.

The food is good but largely fried.

Sorry I missed this. I believe they have a dedicated fryer but I am not sure. None of my posts are based in the omni restaurants having a dedicated fryer as most do not.

AMAZING burger

I was going to get "phish" and chips but the server recommended an Impossible burger, with mushrooms, onions, all the toppings. It came with fries and did not disappoint. Best burger I've had in a very long time!

Pros: great food, excellent service, delicious vegan options

Cons: serves animal products, no indoor seating (COVID protocols)

Authentic fish and chips experience

They really go the extra mile in making the vegan fish and chips feel just like the classic, from the tasty tarter sauce to the endless pile of fries. No alterations needed - fish, batter, sides, tarter sauce were all vegan. Staff was friendly and supportive. They provided a menu with all the vegan items highlighted (several options).

Pros: No alterations needed, Custom menu, Vegan soft serve

Delicious!

Awesome. Many options for vegans, soup, salad, mains, desserts, smoothies.
Had the not cod with coleslaw and tartar sauce, all vegan of course, and it was unreal. I was so full after.
Finished it off with some pineapple dole whip and was blown away by how tropical and fruit it was.

Delicious! Don't waste your money on ferry food!

We stopped in here for lunch on the way to the ferry. Great surprise to see they had so many vegan options. They have a separate vegan menu so make sure to ask for it. The vegan fish and chips was soo good. It was made out of tofu. I wish I was closer to here so I could go all the time!

The best vegan burger around

Fantastic establishment with lots of options!! As a vegan, I come here to fulfill my burger craving and then finish off with dole whip. Seriously, what more can you ask for??

Love Fish on 5th

They have an entire vegan menu which they usually offer at time of seating, but definitely ask for it if they don't. They also support other local food companies like The Very Good Butchers no-beef parties in one of their vegan burgers, Beyond Meat is in the other one.

A True Gem

Fish On Fifth is a traditional fish and chip shop, that has many vegan options and will happily veganize most of the menu.

Their Vegan Big Mac is incredible, using patties from the Very Good Butcher and Chao cheese.

Pros: Know what vegan means, Ever-expanding options, Vegan substitutes for everything
