Great Food And Venue

They make some of the tastiest and most creative dishes using Yuba that I've had. It's decadent to have a meal of small plates with great drinks and then catch a set in an intimate setting upstairs. Music is always great in the bar too.

Pros: wine selection, small plates, performance schedule

‘Hot’ Spot

We stopped in for drinks and dinner on a Saturday night. Firehouse 12 is in an old firehouse and we ate downstairs with a great atmosphere and cozy, speakeasy vibe. Partner ordered wine (generous pour) and I wanted something non-alcoholic. The bartender created a lovely, fall-spiced mock-tail for me that was delicious. The food was outstanding. We started with grilled eggplant in coconut curry, and shared the shawarma. Both were amazing with rich flavor and textures. We shared the Rebel cheese board, such a treat! And finished our meal with homemade vegan gelato & corn cake with sweet and spicy peanuts.
Staff are friendly and very knowledgeable and the space is intimate. Highly recommend!

Pros: Ambiance , Creative food, Inventive drinks

Best restaurant in New Haven

Love this place!!!!!! My go-to. I really enjoy their Yuba options, like the shawarma and BBQ sandwich. The fried tofu sandwich and impossible burger also get good reviews (although sometimes the tofu sandwich is served with a hot sauce mayo that’s too spicy). Highly recommend to everyone. Currently take-out only.

Pros: All vegan

Cons: Small menu

one of new haven's best

this is my favorite bar in new haven, and also one of my favorite spots in town for vegan food. though the menu is ever-changing, you can always count on several unique and delicious sandwiches and vegetable small plates. i come several times a month and am never disappointed. the kitchen serves meat (EDIT: not anymore! all vegan) but the menu is usually mostly veg. on top of that, it's just a cool place to hang out and get a drink. good music, good atmosphere, nice people, etc.

also - the prices are absolutely unbeatable, especially if you come for friday happy hour, when the entire food menu is half off.

highly recommended.

Pros: low price, delicious and unique food, good atmosphere

Cons: not open for lunch, it's a bar, so it's 21+, portions can be on the smaller side
