Great place for lunch with decent vegan options - Edit
I always enjoy a lunch stop at Firefly when we're in town. There is a separate vegan menu section with several vegan sandwiches. I've had the VLT and the sausage hoagie; both tasty. Good beverage selection, too! Nothing amazing, but a good place for veg and non-veg. Nice casual atmosphere.

Terrible Customer Service - Edit
There are far too many restaurants with vegan options in Charlottesville to have to experience poor customer service. They have a vegan brunch menu, but the sides listed are not all vegan. So while paying my bill, I made the suggestion to the owner that only including the sides that ARE vegan would be a nice improvement. I had ordered a side Caesar salad with my sandwich thinking it was vegan - it was not. So I thought this suggestion would help others avoid a similar mistake. I asked to have the up charge for the Caesar salad removed from my bill and explained to the owner the mix up and made my suggestion. I also mentioned that the service had been very slow, with our having waited 45 minutes to get our sandwiches. The owner was not receptive to my feedback and told me I was rude. I won’t go back to Firefly. There are amazing vegan restaurants like Botanical Faire and GRN Burger that I would rather have my business.

Great menu, average quality - Edit
Update 9/2023: still a great, long menu of vegan options. I got the vegan french toast for brunch which was tasty!! I stand by my original statement that the quality is average but I will certainly be back to try more food and bring my omni friends/family.
Read more5/2022: This place has so many vegan options!! It is so exciting to have a restaurant of this style with so much to choose from. I had the vegan totchos and they were good but there was too much cashew cheese for me. The vegan brownie was a little oily. But, I will definitely be back to try the sandwich options!

Vegan food and games! - Edit
Dedicated vegan brunch menu and several vegan options in regular menu. Vegan Bloody Mary was great and the vegan wanton nachos were amazing and unique! Can’t beat the pinball and skeeball games either!

Clearly labeled vegan options- and there are plenty. Fried green tomatoes, chili, crab cakes, tot-chos! Couldn’t have been a better meal or a better time.

Solid vegan options@World Vegan Day - Edit
Not sure if we just caught them on a good day (World Vegan Day) or what, but almost all of their specials were vegan and their standard menu had many vegan options. We enjoyed the seitan po’ boy, Beyond Sausage Hoagie and mushroom tacos with some chili and butternut squash soup thrown in for good measure. All tasty and filling options. Most of their desserts were vegan, we enjoyed the apple crisp and chocolate mousse cake. Recommend in Charlottesville!

Excellent - Edit
Shared the vegan sausage sandwich with tots and the quinoa kale bowl with cashew cream sauce. Had the vegan chocolate mousse cake with cashew crust for dessert. Delicious and left full and happy. The lunchtime atmosphere was laid back and even played a little pool. I’d like to try dinner there sometime.

Amazing, great Vegan options - Edit
Firefly is a staple in my life with many vegan options. They have recently rolled out a vegan cashew cheese which is awesome on their tater tochos. Usually get the tofu sandwich because it’s so good, but there’s also a vegan burger, vegan sausage, and other rotating items that are vegan. Great beer and wine list. Very friendly service. Definitely recommend- would give 5 stars if I could.

Great vegan options - Edit
We live just down the street from this place, though it's pretty convenient to I-64 if you're just passing through. They've always had a couple of good vegan options and a couple of other things that can be made vegan. Lately they're adding more vegan options. The jackfruit sliders are really good, as are the vegan tater tatchos (though these are both specials right now - not sure if they'll be part of the permanent menu). The owner is super nice and the staff are usually friendly and knowledgeable about the vegan options. They've also got lots of old school arcade games and pinball machines, which keeps our kids happy.

Meatless Monday: Vegan Roots Fest Menu Sampling - Edit
Hubby and I enjoyed a Vegan Tatar Totchos off the special sampling menu, delicious! Then my hubby had the No Bull vegan burger off the regular menu and I had the “Oyster” seitan Po Boy off the special menu (I hope they add this to the regular menu, it’s a keeper). For desert we shared a delightful Vegan Berry Crumble for dessert. It should be noted that their oil fryer is vegan (fresh oil, no meat cooked in it) for Meatless Monday. Looking forward to seeing Firefly at the Vegan Roots Fest at the end of the month.

Several vegan options - Edit
Shared at our table were the tofu sandwich on vegan sourdough and the quinoa kale bowl with added local tofu. Both were solid vegan dishes and I would order them again. We really liked the vibe of the place with a wood stove to keep you warm and old school video games for your quarter wasting pleasure. Some places you say, “I can eat there” as a vegan. This place earns the “I want to go there” tag instead.

Love it! Obsessed! - Edit
I recently discover Firefly had vegan food, after not knowing but living in Cville for quite a while, now I'm obsessed! They don't have a huge vegan selection, but a lot of their regular menu items can be made vegan on request and I've never felt bad about requesting it (one server was vegan himself and was excited to find out I was as well). My favorite item so far is the Tater Totchos (done vegan) but I always ask for hot sauce (they have either Tapatio or Cholula) and I sprinkle it all over because without the cheese and such I think it could be a little dry/bland. If you don't like hot sauce, ketchup would probably work well too. Their sweet potato fries are pretty standard, but good as a side item. Their sweet chili tofu sandwich is also really good, the tofu is flavorful and done well, great on the sourdough which is their only vegan bread option. I don't love their veggie burger, it's good and cooked well but I'm not a fan of pesto so that ruined the experience for me and it didn't work as well on the sourdough like the tofu sandwich did. They have a large selection of drinks/cocktails, etc. as well. Love the environment and love the food.
Read morePros: Great vegan food (both appetizers and main meals), Nice vibe/environment, Good value
Cons: Not a huge vegan selection, could have more, Only vegan bread option is sourdough
