Incredible vegan fine dining experience - Edit
My partner and I showed up slightly early for our reservation, but the host was very accommodating and we ended up sitting at the bar. Jay was our server/bartender😄we were met with very friendly service and perfect recommendations that absolutely did not disappoint. I definitely recommend going with the servers recommendations (feed me) because they know their stuff! A bit pricy, but the serving sizes are very large considering it was multiple courses. The roti is so fresh and the Bao had an amazing texture. Great experience overall! Would have loved to try the tapioca pearl pudding, but I was so full towards the end.

Words can’t describe - Edit
How amazing this meal was! Best meal I had in Toronto. Permanent vegan pop up at a restaurant serving Malaysian food. We sat outside on a beautiful sunny day in Toronto. We ordered the roti and Dahl, Kari hor fun, and the baos. Everything was outstanding. My favorite was the Kari hor fun. I strongly recommend you visit this restaurant.

Good food and vibe - Edit
Went on a weekday for dinner and they were quite busy, definitely recommend getting a reservation. Fat Choi is a part of another restaurant, Soos, and which is not vegan
Read moreFood was pretty good with prices on par for most restaurants in Toronto. Food had authentic flavours and reasonable portion sizes. Service left a lot more to be desired but overall was a good experience.
Pros: Flavourful food, Restaurant had nice vibe
Cons: Service was disappointing , Smaller menu

Should be 5 stars! Should be labeled vegan - Edit
Fat Choi is a permanent vegan pop-up inside of a Malaysian restaurant called Soos. HappyCow doesn't let me give 5 stars to Fat Choi even though it's my favorite vegan food in Toronto!
Read moreService is incredible. They're so friendly, and they check in on you often throughout the meal.
Everything was genuinely so amazing that it's hard to pick a favorite. We got the scrumptious cakes, kari puff, shroom braise, and kapitan tofu. If I had to recommend one, it would be the shroom braise, because the noodles are perfect.
Also, I recommend the Sago Sago dessert: tapioca pudding, gula melaka, and pandan coconut milk

I think for a good reason pop-ups inside murder-kitchens aren't labelled vegan is to set expectations of what kind of environment you'll be dining in (sights, smells, incorporeal cries of pain and violence from the decapitated bodies of the deceased) and what food bourne risks customers are taking consuming food prepared on-site where dead bodies are handled and mutilated. Anything to encourage them to move out would be useful. I'd be really sad if I went there looking for a vegan safe space and found a satanic celebration of violence against innocent animals all around me. And the smell? How not to lose one's appetite? Here's hoping they find a new location immediately.

Yeah I totally see what you're saying. I'm glad I didn't smell or see anything except vegan food during my time in. but that may have been due to where I was seated? Or just a bunch of vegans in that night? I do wish I could give 5 stars to a vegan pop-up instead of 4. Hopefully, they find their own location soon. But one thing I noticed is that when a restaurant that serves a lot of meat lists their vegan options under a fake restaurant name on DoorDash, happycow approves of these. And also lists multiple "vegan" ghost kitchens that share a space with omni restaurants as vegan. So there's definitely some inconsistencies with labeling on here

It's pretty evil. I run into that all the time myself, sadly. Vegan is just a cash-in catchphrase to so many. We just gotta report them. It's not intentionally inconsistent and I'm definitely not defending the HC admins who are a for-profit company while also imposing their labor needs on uncompensated members of their community, but it's just a matter of who happens to report the issues or not. Ultimately, it's up to vegan businesses to refuse sharing kitchens with murder corps and for their customers to care about the intentional boycott of animal abuse component of veganism. I hope they move before I get to T bc it looks delicious otherwise!

Vegan char siu blew my mind, delicious roti canai - Edit
Highly recommend their tasting menu - and this place is all vegan and should be listed as such. I don't think there was any dish I didn't like, but the standouts were the roti canai (I've never seen a vegan version before and it made me so happy) and the bao bun filled with a vegan char siu (seitan). Eating it brought me straight back to childhood, it was incredible.

Try the Feed Me menu! It’s really great value for the price as it’s a lot of food, and everything I’ve had here is delicious. They also have a good wine selection. My husband and I go here a lot when we are celebrating something. Menu changes often so there’s always something new.

The place is not 100% vegan. - Edit
I thought they were fully vegan (as I clicked the 'vegan' tab assuming fully vegan eateries would be visible on the site). Iwas handed a meat menu when I got there. I should have researched properly before going.

Love the large separate vegan menu. The Kapitan Tofu was a really good portion and the sauce to die for. Also really enjoyed the deep fried banana dessert with Honey's ice cream.

patio on Ossington always humming and our server quick as an athlete responding to all of her guests. food, as usual, banging with flavour and textures and sheer delish'ness. Baos are our favourites, the edamame starters, the roti, oh and the banana and gelato dessert with caramel sauce (to go with caramelized 'nanas) yummm!

Best birthday dinner - Edit
I ate at Fat Choi for my birthday recently. We let the very friendly server choose our dishes because everything sounded delicious. He did a great job and explained everything he brought us to eat. Some highlights were the Peking Pancakes, No mapo no tufu and the tortellini; but truly everything was delicious. The waiter surprised me with the delicious dessert of Sticky Ginger pudding with a candle for dessert and it was awesome. You must try this restaurant and hopefully they will be so successful they can open a new full time vegan restaurant. You will not be disappointed- YUM!!!
