Not very vegan friendly - Edit
Unless you’re going for fresh fruit and veggies the other vendors don’t have much. There was some fresh juice, jams, bread and nuts. The food vendors for meals are heavy on the meat and walking by several bbq stands wasn’t very fun. Shalimar Indian had a labeled vegan meal of chana Masala

vacation treat - Edit
Being from out of town we love when can be in SLO on Thursdays! Great selection of fruits and vegetables as well as juices and an ever growing vegan menu as demand increases.

Over 20+ years and just as amazing as ever! - Edit
I've been attending this farmers market since I was a little girl. They have the best fruit and vegetables and you can find vegetarian and vegan treats being sold fresh and hot from the various stands. Raw nuts can also be purchased. Last time I was there they even had bike valet ;-) It can be busy and full due to its enormous popularity. Its an ideal place to find California's best and freshest produce!

Cons: Full, Only held once a week, Mostly cash only

first half is good - Edit
Honestly there is A LOT of meat at the farmers market. That's in the second half. But the first half just focuses on produce, and it's amazing! I also really like the atmosphere and bands playing. Just try to enjoy the produce and avoid the meat heavy parts

Beautiful produce and a vegan stall or two - Edit
Yes, there are a few places selling charred dead body parts here, but they are all clustered at one end of the market, so I just skipped around them (careful to walk up-wind of them!) and continued on. There is a lot of beautiful fresh produce here, I ate a huge amount of the sweetest strawberries ever!! So delicious. Also, the vegan cafe in town, Bliss, does a stall here serving mains and sweets. There's another stall called the Hommus Factory selling all kinds of flavoured hommus variations, plus prepared chickpeas, pitas, chips and more, nearly all vegan (all vegetarian). There's stalls selling roasted corn, and you can select vegan items from the choice of toppings. I'm sure if you asked in other food stalls, more vegan items would turn up.
Read morePros: great for raw fooders or self caterers, at least 2 veggie stalls with yummy food, atmosphere
Cons: billowing smoke from roasted dead bodies
