Underwhelming Experience - Edit
I had been wanting to eat here for years after reading all the amazing reviews and I had really high expectations. It seems like I am in the minority (based on reviews) but I was seriously underwhelmed by this experience. I felt a bit like I was in an episode of Portlandia the entire time (that's not necessarily a bad thing!). I was expecting something like Harvest Beat in Seattle (which i highly recommend), but this was an entirely different experience. The portions were VERY small, which in itself would not be an issue, but my friend and I both thought they lacked flavor as well. One of the entrees was 4 peeled tomatoes with pretty much no flavoring. I was left generally bewildered by this entire experience. Overall, it wasn't terrible, and I'm glad I went once, but I won’t be back. For the price, I would expect much more flavorful dishes. I do want to say that I appreciate what they are (trying) to do, it just wasn't my cup of tea. .

We chose the dinner with the wine flight and it was spectacular.
Firstly - the pairings of wine and food were really amazing and everything was locally made - two whites, two reds (one Rose blend) and one cider.
The cider was interesting, it was unfiltered and unsweetened, I presume that was what they drank back in ye 'olde England. To the food now...
Everything was clearly very fresh, well thought out, and high quality.
It's hard to articulate exactly why Farm Spirit is an excellent experience, so I'll summarize:
- Amazing and knowledgeable staff
- Fresh food, all locally and sustainability sourced
- Fabulous wine/alcohol pairings
- Intriguing and unique dishes
Because the menu changes regularly, I don't want to spoil or go into detail on my food. But if you want a one of kind, upscale experience, go to Farm Spirit and support not only a local restaurant, but local farmers, wineries, and people.

Truly a special occasion experience. I went with friends who are omnivores, and they were really impressed by the dishes. Portions are small as you would expect from a fancy place, but there are quite a few courses.

It was our first time experiencing finer dinning in a pre fix menu setting. Really had to put trust into the chefs for a good meal and they knocked it out of the park! Such diversity of flavor, texture, plating, made the experience even better.

I had heard about Farm Spirt for years and was looking forward to eating here. First, let me say that the service and atmosphere were wonderful. The food, however, was not at all what I had expected. It was generally lacking in flavor. I have been to Harvest Beat (formally Sutra), in Seattle, numerous times - and was hoping for an experience similar to that. t was not. While Harvest Beat has food that is delicious, creative, and full of unexpected flavors; I found Farm Spirt to be plain and nothing at all special.

I honestly wasn't sure that Farm Spirit could live up to the hype, but it did! We enjoyed all the plates that came with our tasting menu. The experience was top notch from start to finish. I also like gratuity is included on everything (keeps it simple). We had a snack before we went so we didn't go in starving, and this really worked out well for us. The plates are small, so not being starving meant we really savored everything.

Food was all incredibly delicious with many flavors I had never tasted before. The menu was an experience like never before! It is pricey but nice for special occasions. Only con was the small portions (even for 7 courses) did not fill me up.

We were lucky to snag a spot last night and it was one of the most delicious meals and fun dining experiences of my life. The food is creative and thoughtful. We were blown away. Highly recommend! I will definitely come back next time I’m in Portland.

Intimate venue with about a dozen locally-sourced small plates served over an hour and a half seating. Menu is pre-set. Great presentation, tasty and creative combinations of ingredients, and a hardworking and knowledgeable staff. Our evening was heavily mushroom-focused, but it sounds like they change their menu every few weeks to focus on the freshest ingredients. If you are a fan of food and willing to leave the decision-making up to the chefs, definitely go here.
