One of the only places in the area to get vegan food so I'm not too surprised that the reviews are as high as they are. Some vegans will eat anything if it's their only option around. I will give a disclaimer that this review is from an experience I had just before the pandemic so it is not extremely recent and it is possible that they have improved since. However, I want to share the experience anyway because it is so unbelievable. So my mom and I stopped here before going to a concert, it was dinnertime but completely empty when we walked in. The food took no time at all which was good because we were on a schedule, but also lead me to wonder how they could make two full meals that fast without taking any shortcuts. The food itself was simply not good. It was undercooked, almost stale tasting, lacked much flavour and the presentation to be honest was god awful. The whole meal was extremely underwhelming but we didn't really want to say anything because we were in a rush, we were just trying to feed ourselves. But that didn't matter because the owner (assuming it was the owner) was standing at the counter the whole time just watching use eat the whole time and listening to our conversation. She started asking what was wrong with the food and when we started to tell her it wasn't good she started getting defensive and telling us 'that's how it's supposed to be' and 'we've never had any complaints before' and treating us like we didn't know what we were talking about. It was straight out of a Gordon Ramsay Kitchen Nightmares episode. The funny thing is that I am a chef, I've been through years of culinary school and worked in kitchens so I do in fact know how food should taste and be prepared and that was not it. This is definitely the most negative review I've had to post about a restaurant but at the time of the incident it looked like I wasn't the only one who went through this situation. The google reviews all share similar incidents and the owners replier were just as defensive as they were in person. One of them said the fries were undercooked and greasy and the owners response was that sometimes the fries are great and sometimes they are greasy, it's a 'trial and error'. Fries are vegan normally, they do not take much to perfect and any legit food establishment knows that consistency is key. Don't put it on the menu if you can't consistently make it the same way each time. Hopefully the owner has grown up by now and customers continue to leave happy.

I was looking forward to eat their food. But it was such a disappointment! Sausages was hard and mashed potatoes tasted sweet. There is no salt in their food either. Salads was fresh and that’s why 3 stars.

I ordered the Fish & Chips which were incredible. I wasn’t a fan of the mushy peas with it but the fish and chips will be a definite reorder for me. Also ordered the Chickenflower Wings which were blow your mind delicious!!! A hidden gem for sure!!

I love eating at FGF Vegan. They have a menu full of delicious vegan options. My favourite is super food salad and fish and chips. I bought the cheese to take home and it is to die for. Don’t even start me on the new desserts.

FGF quickly became my favourite place to get takeout from. I've tried many of the menu items and have enjoyed every dish thus far. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable of vegan cuisine, and the owner has published her own vegan cookbook/journey. I always look forward to going back to FGF.

BEST VEGAN ON THE EAST SIDE - Edit
My husband and I are from Toronto but we have family in Whitby so everytime we visit we make sure to stop at FGF vegan (it makes the drive even more worth it lol). We usually try something new everytime we go but the latest time we went we ordered the sausage and mash and fish and chips (super good). The time before that we had the burger with plantain bun (the Patty is super juicy and realistic-even the colour is on point) and the Thai Green Curry (husband's fave- he makes orders it super spicy) There are other larger scale vegan restaurants in the area (think copper branch) but I just love supporting small business owners. The owner really wants to make sure you leave happy and full. Definitely recommend you checking them out, they also sell vegan cheese and pepperoni to take home, good for cheese boards/girls wine night 😍

I was looking forward to coming to this place and brought my non-vegan sister along. When the food was made, the owner checked with the cook made and said she didn't trust him to do it right. OK?! Then I bought a dessert for my sister and she didn't like it. The owner made some jokes about my sister because she wasn't vegan - it upset my sister and I. In addition, it's a tiny place for just a few people to eat inside. There was nothing at this place that would bring be back.

For making jokes - if no one is smiling or giggling, then know your sarcasist jokes may not be funny. You might have been the only customer in the front but we have several pick up orders and delivery orders that are in the back and sometimes we are busier than it seems and when I said "you don't trust my cook" I was referring to giving me the right container as there were other ones on top of the heater. Vegan heaven in Oshawa - Edit
Too many delicious comfort foods to try. The staff do an amazing job of recreating all the foods that we love, like sausage and mash (yum) and cheese and pepperoni. I'm hooked on the cassava cheese. As if delicious vegan food isn't enough they are now hosting monthly film screenings for people who want to learn more about plant based eating. Fabulous food and community resource rolled into one. FGF is a little gem for sure.

I went here with my non-veg dad and we both really enjoyed our meals. He got the BLT with smoky eggplant “bacon” and I got a burger. Something I found really interesting was the use of grilled plantain as a bun for the burger bun. Still starchy but a little more nutritious. I also tried a sample of the cassava cheese and it was great!

A tiny vegan heaven in Whitby. LOVED the beer battered "fish," made from banana blossoms. LOVED the sharpness of her in-house cheeses (recommended she turn her cranberry cheese into a holiday cheese ball...roll dat jaunt in some nuts!). The poutine was CRAZY good! Her desserts were nice, but I do suggest two things: removing the peanut butter swirl from the orange cake's other (surrounding) frosting, and creating a cream cheese frosting for the red velvet cake...THEN we can die and go to heaven after eating those otherwise delightful little numbers! Go here. Eat here. You will NOT regret it!!

Innovative, delicious vegan comfort food - Edit
Uh, yum! Had the perfect Friday night meal consisting of pizza, the vegan burger and the desserts. I loved it so much I came back again on Saturday to try a healthy superfood salad and the Mac and cheese. The faux cheese and meats are top notch. I live in Los Angeles, where veganism is popular, and these alternatives are surperb. I’d love to be able to buy them in the store in California. The service here is quick and friendly. Did you know the vegan burger has more protein than a traditional burger with no cholesterol? Not to mention it’s much healthier than those you buy in store like beyond burger. Highly recommend. Best vegan food in the area for sure.

I had an incredible experience at FGF! The food was out of this world and the staff was amazing as well. You can tell that there is so much passion that goes into their product. We tried a bunch of their gluten-free items, in which they were very knowledgeable about what my friend with celiac could and couldn't have. You will not be disappointed with choosing to grab food from FGF!
