Delicious vegan burrito - Edit
The vegan burrito was really nice - the soymeat they use is very well prepared and flavourful. The burrito comes with french fries/salad and a side of avocado and salsa. The french fries were a little too dry and oily in my opinion.

The staff was very friendly. The food was very good, 4 options for vegetarians ( burger, burrito, enchilada, and a quesadilla) , 1 for vegans ( burito). The restaurant is very small so you may have to wait a little bit before you can enter but it's worth it.

Small and sweet place with a very warm and nice atmosphere. It was closed when we got there at 16:20, but the lady came out to tell us they will open again at 17:00 because they were busy and need to remake a lot of things.

We ordered the vegan burrito, and both enjoyed it! You can choose either salad or chips with it.
The lady even surprised us by wishing us safe travels in our native language when we left :)

Read moreAppeared vegan ready. The sign outside said vegan and vegetarian options. I was expecting the soy based burger to be like a meat substitute type that simulates meat, but was very glad it wasn’t. It was all delicious and language was no barrier as we have practically no Japanese.

Best vegan burrito in Japan! - Edit
I don't even have the words to describe how delicious this vegan burrito was! It was so filling, and the flavors were perfectly combined! They make their own soy meat, and I really hope that they will expand their vegan menu. I believe that with just a few small tweaks they can easily veganize many of their existing dishes. But in the meantime, I highly recommend having the vegan burrito if you are in Takayama!

Great burrito and fries! They make their own vegan meat from scratch and it’s delicious. We do wish they had more than one option, even if the one option is amazing. Because they make a soy cheese too I think it would be possible to make their vegetarian options all vegan. If they were all vegan everyone is happy :). The owners are super friendly and we had a good time there.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal of burrito with fries and burrito with salad. This was all that was vegan on the menu, but it was a fabulous option... it was really delicious. Staff were friendly and helpful and we enjoyed the fun atmosphere of the restaurant.

We arrived at EvilTex for a late lunch. They quickly came to us and right away asked if a there was someone vegan or vegetarian on the table. A vegan vegetarian menu in English was readily available.

Achingly cool people at Evil Tex really know how to do the veggie thing! They have lots of great options, that are unbelievably tasty with huge portions! A veggie burger that makes you double take and worry a little! So good we tried to go back the next day but it was closed wednesday. It's a must try if your in the area.

Vegetarian/vegan menu plus vegetarian/vegan sides available. Uses soy meat for burgers, burritos, enchiladas, etc. Lists ingrediants for soy meat on vegetarian/vegan menu. Staff are happy to make changes to the meals to accommodate dietary restrictions and choices. Waitress conversed in English. Huge drink selection as well. One of the best meals I've had in Japan.

We came here as it was one of the only vegetarian friendly places open on new years day but we were presently surprised by the delicious burgers and burritos. It had a ‘route 66’ American diner feel and the staff were lovely. They had a good number of vege options and double checked our dietary requirements when we ordered. Beer selections were good too!

Omni fiancé had a burger and I had the vegan burrito. Very understanding about vegan. I asked for fried pickles and the lovely server kindly let me know the batter had egg! When my meal was delivered she assured me no fish, meat, dairy, egg etc. was delicious! And something a little different after 2 weeks of Japanese food.
