Fresh and indulging, with pseudoscience twist

Loved the atmosphere, the floor seating and the food. I had the tempeh salad with peanut sauce, and it was delicious. For dessert, I had the chocolate cake with coconut cream, which made me so full I was barely able to walk out of there! I also enjoyed a lemon grass iced tea. Be aware that the amount of sugar they add to the tea is very generous (and for me, too much). Everything was delicious. However, as a scientist, I did not appreciate the generous helping of pseudoscientific advice about soy consumption. This is simply not true, and has been discredited years ago. Other advice about "healthy" this and that should probably be taken with a grain of salt.

The service was also really slow. I asked to see the menu after my salad, and had to wait 15 min (u til I approached them at the counter) to place my order.

Pros: Food, Atmosphere, Floor seating!

Cons: Pseudoscience, Slow, inattentive service

Disliked the green curry

I feel so bad for this review because the restaurant is gorgeous and vegan and vegetarian! But the green curry just wasn’t to my taste whatsoever. I really hate tofu that hasn’t been fried, just boiled in a curry.

I’m used to green curries at home in Thai restaurants which don’t seem to be spicy at all, only a ‘little bit spicy’ was very hot for me and every mouthful I was sipping water 😅 I found the curry to be really heavy on one ingredient (either Thai basil or kaffir lime leaves) which gave it a very potent taste, it just wasn’t a very pleasant experience.

Boss coconut shake, but mid pad kaprow

I got a cinnamon chocolate coconut shake, a pad kaprow with rice. Servers were very nice and advised against ordering two dishes as they are big.
The shake was awesome: 5 stars there. Sadly the kaprow was a bit of a let down as it's normally my favourite dish. It was ok, but lacked the intensity I like in thai cuisine. Just more bland than normal, not enough garlic and only had like 2 chillies.
The menu is massive though, so perhaps I just ordered the wrong thing.

Decent food

Not bad but think there are better options in the area. The pineapple fried rice was stodgy and bland and the tempe tasted a bit cardboardy. Not a bad experience but pretty average in my opinion. The lighting is also weird and the lampshades hang to close to the tables and get blown about by the fans so it's kinda distracting when you're trying to eat. Also half the restaurant is on the floor seating (cushions) and there was a queue of people at one point waiting for a proper table.

Fill your belly before khaosan

Love coming here before Khaosan! Super friendly (but also super slow) service, food tastes good and I always enjoy reading the comments in the menu.
Tempeh is amazing, I also really liked the basil pineapple juice.

Cute little place and yum food

The food was delicious and lots of different options. Good Drink menu too. Some of the seating is cushions on the floor and all round great atmosphere. It is down a little side road that looks a little sketchy but definitely worth it, little gem hidden away! 😂

Pros: Atmosphere, Choice of food & drink, Tasty food

Great pancakes

We had some vegan pancakes for breakfast and they were great and thick. They tasted like something you would do at home. Also tried the coconut smoothies (without ice). They were all right. Would recommend 👍🏼

Good experience

There is a vast menu full of good options. However, the Pad See Oo noodles were overcooked. Still, it is worth it.

Delicious vegan food

Ethos offers an extensive menu with many clearly marked vegan options. Everything we have tried was delicious and of very good quality at reasonable prices. My favourite is the salad with peanut sauce and tempeh. Nice vibe, too. However, it can be quite hot inside, further to the back.

Great!

Delicious meal, even late at night. Although our order was initially incorrect, it was quickly corrected by the waiter. The food was tasty. The location is pleasantly calm, just off the busy party street. However, there was no air conditioning.

Huge menu, nice vibe

We came here several times as it was one of the only nearby places open during Songkran. The staff were really friendly. We enjoyed most of our food, including the massaman curry, tempeh burger and tomato pasta with vegetable balls. The chocolate cake was really good! However, the muesli and soy milk meal was really poor - a tiny portion, with minimal amount of fruit or nuts included within the muesli. It was way too expensive for what it was. We also didn’t like all their weird warnings in the menu about the health issues of soy and soy milk, particularly in the coffee section, especially if they’re not even going to provide an alternative milk to have in your coffee! Seems a bit of a strange approach for a vegetarian place trying to attract both vegetarians and vegans.

Awesome masala shake, try it!

We came here to on our quest to try all the vegan restaurants around Kao San Road. According to the menu and restaurant intro, they highly value ethicality and sustainability, which is great, and obviously results in higher prices.

We had the pineapple fried rice, some non-spicy fried noodles in thick sauce, and a pancake with mango and banana. All of which was good, 4/5. For drinks we got a coconut and a masala shake. Funnily enough, it was our clear verdict that the masala shake was by far the best (and cheapest) item that we ordered.

Pros: Nice atmosphere and clean location, large and very clearly labelled menu, high focus on sustainability

Cons: Pricier than other restaurants in the area

Too salty, too expensive

Cons: Too salty , No ice in cocktails , Not enough alcohol in expensive cocktails
