Pretty good! - Edit
Doesn’t stand out too much with other vegan options in town but the food is solid and you have more than one option. Really enjoyed the sauce on the burrito. No margaritas😒

Not many vegan options - Edit
Not too many vegan options, to be expected I guess from a Mexican restaurant. I had the veggie burrito and a side of guacamole. The veggie burrito was decent but the guac left much to be desired. I had to keep doctoring it and adding salt, pepper, and lime to make it actually taste like something.

Very basic comfort tex-mex - Edit
It's kind of the only show in town for mexican food in Kanab. It's extremely crowded, but the service doesn't suffer too badly because of that.
Read moreThe food is very standard tex-mex faire. It's a good value (for Kanab), and filling, but it's very barebones for vegans in 2022. It's what I remember eating out vegan in 2010 was like, where they charge full price to take meat/cheese out of things but don't really make it up with anything. So you get a burrito or fajitas that feel sort of empty.
But if you just need to carb up for your next big hike on the cheap. This is the place for you.

Pros: cheap (for Kanab), big portions, lard-free beans!!!
Cons: very basic

Get the guac! - Edit
Escobar's has some of the best guacamole around (and I'm a Texan!)! Their chips, rice, and beans are really good, too. A vegan burrito can certainly be made but that's about it for vegan options. We usually just grab their chips, salsa, and guac to go for a filling mid-day snack.

Unexpected Delight - Edit
We rolled into Kanab early Sunday evening, not sure what would be open. We phoned in our order for vegetarian burritos guacamole and chips. So delicious. We’re lacto veg so the wet burrito aspect was great for us, but not vegans. The beans & rice & veg in the burrito were all delicious. The staff were cheery & gracious despite the FULL dining room and less than an hour until closing.

Yummmm - Edit
We got fajitas and chimichangas. It was seriously some of the best Mexican we’ve ever had. They seemed to get what “vegan” is about, but we’re guessing things are all fried in the same fryer with meat and such so this is probably not your place if that’s a dealbreaker. We got some extra salsa and it was really excellent and served us well for a few days after for snacking with chips. We got takeout as we visited during peak COVID. The staff was masked but picking up the food was a pretty unpleasant experience as there were tons of families dining in and chilling out like COVID ain’t no thang. Food is packed in styrofoam, which is also a bummer. Bottom line - really tasty food. Room for improvement in other areas.

Several options available for vegans - Edit
A nice Mexican restaurant with accommodating staff. We ordered standard items from the menu which the staff happily veganised. I had veggie fajitas, without the sour cream or cheese. My son had a shrimp salad, less the shrimp, cheese etc. My husband had a veggie burrito, less cheese - his was not as good a meal as ours.
