Nice but not the best value

Each wrap was £2.20 which isn't the best value for North Macedonia. Also there was no pickles inside which seemed very odd/stingy and also not crushed tortilla chips so no texture at all really. That said it's still a tasty vegan option but just could easily be made better by being a little cheaper and/or being a complete classic cig kofte wrap

Grew on me, love it now

Been visiting this place a lot of times now and while the Cigköfte took me some time to get used to, it now became a personal favourite. Love the Cigköfte Wrap, Cigköfte Rolls and the Lentil Soup (which is served with flatbread). You wouldn’t guess but everything is really filling, cheap and served quickly.

Note that the flatbread is warmed on the meat grill though, in case you don’t like the taste of meat.

You can sit inside (nice view!) but especially the Cigköfte Wrap is also perfect for to go.

Pros: tasty food (lentil soup + Cigköfte), open inside area to sit in with view on bazar, reliable and fast staff

Cons: old used chairs (but feeds to the vibe)

Inter-rest-ing…

This was my first experience of this kind of food and let’s just say I won’t forget it. We had to double check with a translator app as to what was actually vegan so do the same. The kofta(?) dish was like a do it yourself burrito/nem with some rather “interesting” lumps of pate and a funky pomegranate sauce. The atmosphere was cool with lots of locals of all ages wolfing down their favourites.

Pros: Authentic as you get, Friendly staff, No frills, all fills…

Cons: Check they understand you, No cutlery so be warned, Smoking allowed inside

Not fully convinced

Let’s not go overboard on this place, half the menu is vegan but the are only about six things on the menu so your choice is; lentil soup, the fake kofta wrap or, tiny fake kofta wraps cut up into neat sushi style rolls.

Cafe is total no frills in the bazaar and has an authentic vibe. The soup was lovely but i wasn’t convinced by the fake kofta, tasted like an uncooked pate mix, my stomach is not going to forgive me for this.

A must try!

Half the menu is vegan and the prices are incredibly cheap. My partner and I ordered way too much so we couldn’t finish it all…the vegan ‘raw meat’ dish is huge and incredibly filling, so you won’t need any size larger than a small unless you aren’t getting anything else and are very hungry.

Yummy!

Cigkofte was really yummy. I wanted to order another one but my tummy was already full. Too bad, it was my last day when I went there.

Pros: 3 vegan options

Cheap traditional Turkish food

Even my travel buddy (who eats meat everyday) wanted to go there twice in one day because he liked the food so much!!
It is really cheap and the staff is very friendly! I ordered 2 dishes because I thought one would have been not enough 😊 it is in the middle of the city and definitely worth a visit!!

Typical Turkish Cigköfte

The vegan movement should not overlook traditional dishes, and cigköfte is really one of those specialties that are lifesavers for vegans in the Balkans. This typical Ottoman dish can be found in lots of places, among which in Engin Cigköfte in the old bazaar in Skopje. This restaurant only serves two dishes: vegan and non vegan cigköfte. The vegan one is very tasty and fresh, and the staff in this place is very nice. Don't skip it!
