The places was old fashion but comfortable and warm. I like the options for a quick snack on my bike ride. There were a few options for vegans which was nice.

Charming cafe - Edit
Cute, quirky spot that will take you back in time. Feels like the quintessential Yellow Springs experience. Used books, local artwork on the walls, whimsical hot-air balloons hanging from the ceiling, even a piano! Plenty of space to relax and enjoy a break.
Read moreTheir coffee is excellent - my double espresso with steamed oat milk was piping hot and hit the spot. They have soy milk and oat milk for non-dairy options. We didn’t get to try their breakfast, but they did have a small selection of vegan baked goods at 3pm in the afternoon. We tried the Cranberry Chocolate cookie and the Vegan GF Brownie, both good. Will be back to try more of their offerings.

The Emporium has the best vegan options in Yellow Springs and every weekend they offer a wide array of vegan treats that you can see through the front window. Coffee is also delicious.

Delicious vegan options and friendly staff! I had the vegan breakfast burrito, a sunflower seed cookie, and also some single serve vegan ice cream from a local creamery—a new addition. Good portion size and totally worth the price. Cute atmosphere and good coffee, too.

Read moreBreakfast menu is available until 11:30. If you show up at 11:31, the tofu scramble is no longer available. Goodbye decent sounding breakfast burrito (add on a charge to make it vegan, of course, even though you’re replacing two items with one)
What’s left is a hummus spinach red pepper sandwich. Which was fine, but due to being made the day before we were very glad that there was a veggie soup. Ended up needing to dunk the entire sandwich in the broth, otherwise the yesterday-toasted bread is a job to bite through. Could make something better and more chewable at home.
To their credit, at least there are vegan options. Yet with a pushy staff member trying to rush us, despite clearly being first timers, I can’t say the whole experience here was exactly pleasant. At a time of need, food is food, yet I would recommend exploring other options.
Summary
•Vegan breakfast option may be good, yet we do not know due to showing 1 minute past available time.
•Coffee “tastes burnt” so was likely cooked at too high of a temperature. Chai tea (not latte) was very sweet. Both drinks remained fairly untouched despite efforts.
•Sandwich was meh, better once dunked in broth for sure.
•Soup of the day was good, unclear as to whether or not it was vegan
•Have yet to try the vegan cookie, keeping hopes low just Incase.
Would likely not come back again, unless it was to try vegan breakfast. Like that they offer vegan options.

we had breakfast at Emporium. They had vegan scramble, a concoction of tofu with mushrooms, onions and kale. It was very good. They can also make a vegan breakfast burrito. I haven't tried their lunch sandwiches. This is a decent place to have breakfast.
