Interesting…tv diner style/taste

The menu is confusing, thought I could order chorizo but then was told that everything is premade and they just warm it up and the chorizo was sold as an item to take home and not a tamale.

So I then asked for a chorizo burrito but without the eggs (to make it vegan) and was told that it’s premade and I couldn’t order it.

I ended up ordering an enchilada with rice and beans. It felt like I ordered a frozen tv dinner. The inside was mush and it just wasn’t good😒

I like that there’s a vegan option in the strip but damn, I would’ve rather had something else.

If the owner ever reads this, please consider better plating, update your menu, maybe bring one skillet to the area to cook something. The microwaved meals are not cutting it.

Location has lots of potential.

Pros: So much potential on the location

Cons: Plating, The food in general , Menu is confusing

Old Sac Staple

I always try to stop here when I visit Old Sac. The owner is kind, and you can't beat a vegan tamale!!

Everything's Microwaved

Everything is premade and microwaved on the spot. The food looked delicious but if u aren't into microwaves then unfortunately don't come here. The service was very friendly and they do have vegan options. Luckily I heard the door shut to the contraption and was able to stop her from nuking my food. Sadly i had to get a refund. Luckily i had food in my bag i was saving for later.

Gave me dairy sour cream

Was overjoyed to find out Emma’s has a location in Old Sac. Bought two packs of vegan and gluten free tamales for my lunches at work. The veggie one is really good but dry. The potato black bean one is bland and drier. That’s what happens when there’s no cheeze. They get 3 stars for the veggie tamales. They get 0 stars for the potato ones, -4 stars cuz not only do they nuke as everything is premade, but they do it in plastic, and -4 stars for giving me regular sour cream even though I asked twice and the man working there insisted it’s vegan. I should have proven him wrong in the spot cuz I knew it looked too white. So, if I could give them negative stars I would, for this location only. Idk about the other location. Beware of the man running the old sac location. He gives himself too much credit for being the force behind having vegan options at this location but doesn’t even know the product line and which ones were gluten free. It was yet another thing I had to point it out to him. Can’t believe his reason for nuking everything is “that’s just how we do things here.” When I saw that he pulled my beans and rice out of the microwave in the plastic, I said I won’t eat that. He gladly warmed some up in a paper boat, but that does not make up for all the other crap.

Great Tamales

I got the chipotle tofu and veggie tamale and it was very good. I tried to order the vegan enchiladas but they had just run out. Reasonably priced for the amount of food you get. Nice to sit outside in the shade.

Goog vegan options

Had the vegan tamales and enchiladas. Everything was flavorful but preferred the enchiladas more. Also, appreciated that you could buy small bags of corn chips.

Pros: Flavorful food, Friendly staff

Cons: Wish there were even more vegan options
