All vegan southern comfort food - Edit
I’m so glad I finally got here. This place is fantastic! So many choices! I got the Oyster Mushroom pita because I wanted something different. OMG…delicious and huge. Enough for two meals. My Omni Husband loved his meatball sandwich. The onion rings and coleslaw were yummy too!

What a find! - Edit
Traveling from Maine to Florida is a challenge for vegans, but finding Eliza’s is quite a wonderful surprise. Everything on the menu is vegan! We settled on “Beef Stir/Fry & Rice, Danny’s Cheesesteak, Baked Beans, a salad, and two wonderful home made juices. Fantastic meal and we plan to visit every winter.

Comfort Food! - Edit
I had a wonderful time at this vegan restaurant. I was so happy to find a vegan restaurant along my travels. Cookie, the server and the person who prepared my meal was so sweet. I wish I could’ve met Eliza. She had great posters and sayings all over the restaurant.

A vegan oasis - Edit
Driving along the highway with all the BBQ, burger joints and gas station signs, we just happened to see a billboard advertising a vegan restaurant in South Carolina ... we thought maybe it was a joke or mirage, we couldn't believe our eyes! But it is real and really delicious!
Read moreWe pulled off and it is basically a truck stop but with vegan food! The two women behind the counter were so friendly and while we were deciding what we wanted from the huge menu, 4 more vegans traveling north came in, also just amazed at this little vegan oasis off the highway.
We got the fried fish sandwich and a side of mac n cheese, both were incredibly delicious! The fish fillet tasted wildly like I remember one tasting and the mac n cheese was of the variety that's pasta in a rich, flavorful nut sauce, and it was possibly the best I've ever had!
While waiting for our order 2 more vegans came in who saw the billboard, all 8 of us chatting together for a bit... it was just a really nice moment of community and connection. I almost didn't want to leave this magical place and just see who else stopped in! Eliza's will now be a regular stop on our road trips.
Pros: Delicious vegan food , Location like an oasis in a non-vegan desert , Friendly service

Best We’ve Ever Had! - Edit
My fiancé and I found this place via a twist of fate on a roadtrip up to Pennsylvania from Hilton Head. Finding veg-friendly food while traveling is always tricky, especially in the south. We were planning on stopping further north for lunch, but took a random exit to use the restroom and gas up. We were shocked to see Eliza’s sign right next to the gas station and had to give it a chance. WOW. I had the chickpea tuna sandwich, and my fiancé had the rib sandwich. This was truly some of the very best vegan food we’ve had anywhere — including in big vegan-friendly cities like Chicago, NYC, Philly, etc. The complexity of flavors in such simple sandwiches was mind blowing. Everything was fresh and prepared with care. And we felt so welcomed by the staff (and fellow customers). 10/10 experience made even better by the surprise of it all.

You must go! Amazing comfort food. We shared some drumsticks. I had the fish sandwich and a side of mac n cheese. My husband had the spicy Chikn sandwich, which was bigger than his head! We also had some blueberry cheesecake. Everything was outstanding. My husband says he can’t stop thinking about that chik’n sandwich lol! I only wish we lived closer so we can try everything. Oh and the staff….they are the sweetest!

Traveling north for a backpacking trip, my Dad and I were staying at a nearby hotel and luckily happened to see a billboard advertising Elizas. I was thrilled.
Read moreEven better, the food and staff were incredible! We tried the spicy chicken sandwich, sample platter and fried okra. All of it was great comfort style food. The chicken sandwich was gigantic!! I swear it was on half of a loaf of fresh Italian bread.
We left very happy, full and with change in our pockets. My Dad tried to leave a tip and they would not accept it. The staff was exceptionally friendly and kind. Would stop back here any time we pass through.

I dream about the wings from Eliza’s - Edit
I will apologize in advance for the lame photo. After driving a few minutes with the delicious smell of Eliza’s takeout tempting me, I dug in before I could take photos. The burgers are excellent, as is the samplers platter but the wings are hands-down the best I’ve ever had. They are excellent when fresh from pick-up and just as good as leftovers. Order a lot to have leftovers the next day! Great staff as well!

A MUST TRY for the Vegan Foodie - Edit
We saw the billboard driving down 95 a few months back, but it was late and they were closed. We knew our next trip through we would try it. Eliza's didn't disappoint. Ot will now be our regular stop when driving 95.
Read moreThe Philly Cheesteak is amazing! The Mac and Cheese made my wife feel like she was eating crock pot mac from her grandmother. The good is great, but don't forget about the juices. You have to try a homemade juice.
This is not a healthy destination. I'm sure you could find a few healthy options on the menu. It is a soul food diner and it's connected to a gas station in a kinda sketchy part of town. All that kind of adds to the experience and made it a must stop when we are traveling through SC.
Pros: Tons of options, Nice people, Great food and juices

June 2024 Update: just a heads up if it’s near closing time -
Read moreI was in town again and looking forward to trying more. They are open until 8 and I got there at 7:35, I was going to see if I could get something to go but they locked the door on us as we were walking up. There may have been a valid reason for rushing to close but an “I’m sorry we are closing” instead of locking it as you see us going to the door came off a little rude. Another traveling family said they went in at 7:20 and they let them order but told them they need to take it to go so they were eating in the car

Feb 2024: Like another reviewer, I stopped to sleep at the Cracker Barrel in my van and was surprised an all vegan place was next door.
I was really looking forward to the rib sandwich but they were out, unfortunately, so I got the Danny cheesesteak which was really good. I’m pretty certain they use Beyond steak which I like
The Mac and cheese was just okay for me, heavy on the salt, I wouldn’t order it again but I’d definitely return if I’m passing through the area again. Plenty of other things on the menu I’d like to try

Pros: All vegan and friendly, Good selection and big portions, Easy in and out in an oversized vehicle

All vegan - Edit
Fairly large menu to choose from with lots of variety. My Philly cheesesteak was delicious, bread was soft. My wife had the cheesy mushroom melt, it was huge! Very good, great earthy taste to the mushrooms and kale. The bread seems fresh baked and the cheese sauce was delicious. My daughter had the drumsticks, I have to say, the BBQ drumstick was out of this world good. Just lightly sweet sauce. The sample platter has plenty to taste. All very good. Great service too.

Flavor explosion! - Edit
We have had her food when she was on the food truck. It was phenomenal then, AND we just visited her new restaurant location. . .EVEN BETTER! I didn't think it was possible!
Read moreMy husband and I split Danny's cheesesteak, the rib sandwich, and a lasagna. . .don't judge. . .we skipped lunch! LOL! The cheesesteak tasted just like what I remember from my meat-eating days. That is one thing I've missed since going vegan. We've tried other places, but this one is the real deal. The "rib" pieces were crispy, yet moist and well coated in a sweet and slightly smokey sauce. The lasagna was flavorful, cheesy, and had the crispy noodle edge I love.
I wish I had gotten their names, but the lady that took our order checked on us to be sure we enjoyed our meal. The sharp young man cooking had a very welcoming personality and as stated above made some AMAZING food for us!

Vegan fast food - Edit
5 star for fast food vegan, 2 star for Whole Foods Plant Base Healthy. Huge portions and a lot of choices. Although most everything was fried and salty. The young man at the counter was great. He was friendly, polite, helpful, and the food was served fast. I like the concept, but it wasn't for me. I would recommend it if you are looking for fast food.

Such a confusing review. I remember you. I recommended the lasagna, the chicken pesto pasta, and the beef stir fry. None are "fast food" items. I have over 30 items on my menu. However, YOU chose other than what was recommended. In any event, I appreciate you stopping in.

AMAZING food, poor location, bad service. - Edit
The food was absolutely amazing. Portions were large and you definitely get your money's worth with an expansive menu and plenty of gluten free options as well. Good juices too. It was kind of hard to find, though I didn't particularly mind that. The service was poor and the cashier was incredibly rude - almost soured the whole experience. Tried to give her the benefit of the doubt though, everyone has bad days. Would come back again even if the service did hurt the mood as the food more than makes up for it.

I hate that you had a "rude" service experience. Would have been great to receive an email, phone call, or request to speak to me in person, rather than write a review. I could've resolved the issue!

Best Vegan Cheesesteak! - Edit
While traveling the country, we stayed one night in Florence in our RV at the Cracker Barrel. What a delight to land right beside Eliza’s vegan cafe! We walked over to have dinner and I decided to indulge in the cheesesteak with a side of sweet potato fries. I hadn’t had one since I had gone vegan, and WOW, it was better than the animal versions I’d had growing up. Everything was deliciously seasoned, and came out hot and fresh. The service was great too; so friendly and welcoming. We felt like family. It’s not often I choose to eat non-WFPB, but if my husband and I pass through the area again, we will for sure be back here! #Veganuary
