Authentic tastes - Edit
This place has an authentic Mayan vibe and is a great place for a break from vegan meats and cheeses. Everything is made in the open, as their open kitchen is right next to the seating area. Their tortilla española is vegan, they make some sort of vegan egg substitute that holds it all together. AMAZING. The tacos and the salbutes are also great (see pics below) . Plus the green salad that accompany the main dishes are really tasty and complementary. Their vegan deserts are refilled every two days, starting with Wednesdays after they are closed on Tuesdays. Definitely a cultural and gastronomical experience.

Chill vibe cafe - Edit
Small cafe style place with limited seating. Food was nice. Had the Tortilla Española and the Sandwich Elela. Everything is vegan except for honey, so you can ask to leave that off if you want. Staff was kind.

Cute Café - Edit
Kind service and great atmosphere. Lots of honey so be aware if you are not into that. Really loved that they used items grown at their own farm. Food was fresh but a little bland.

Absolute Gem in Valladolid - Edit
Went to this spot last night for dinner and we were blown away. From the service by Suzanna to the food, everything was perfect. My friend had the salad and I had the tortilla española as well as the chocolate cake and brownie. Pure amazingness. #Veganuary

Awesome - Edit
Really great little cafe. Healthy food but not like the everything raw kind. Actually good delicious food made with care. Lady working there was super nice as well. Also you gotta try the sesame milk they make. It’s absolutely fantastic. They do have honey in a some foods but everything is clearly labeled.

Super interesting. - Edit
Their dishes are all super good and tasty, but the sesame milk latte its out of this world, super interesting mix of flavors. Their fusion cuisine is also very interesting, tried tacos and tortilla, everything has a bit of tahini which I love! Be aware that this is not a vegan restaurant as it uses honey which you might find in some sweets, the ice creams and even some drinks might have, so make sure to ask. They normally have one version with honey and another one with Panela (unrefined whole cane sugar, typical of Latin America)

No 100% vegan - Edit
We went for desserts and everything contained bee's honey. They told us it was all sustainable and they work with the bees and it's vegan but we explained that it still wasn't for us as we don't consume anything from another creature.

Cute Vegan/Vegetarian Restaurant with AMAZING food! - Edit
Elela is a cute and charming vegan and organic restaurant/cafe located across the street from the Convent.
Read moreThe menu featured a variety of healthy and creative items including breakfast choices, two different kinds of tacos, quinoa bowl, ice cream, and various cafe drinks. Everything is organic and prepared fresh and you could see the open kitchen behind the counter. I loved how most of the ingredients that they use are grown locally and sourced from the owner’s ranch. I ordered the Tacos de Yaca Pibil (made with jackfruit), the Chaya juice, and the cacao ice cream (it does contain local honey from their farm, so not completely vegan, but so tasty). Everything tasted sooo fresh and delicious! The tacos were among the best I’ve had during my Mexican travels and it was my first time trying jackfruit. The Chaya juice was sweet with citrus juice added to the Chaya and it was so good. The ice cream was so creamy, flavourful and incredible.
The staff were so kind and welcoming and the service was excellent. They explained the dishes and their speciality is “halva” which is local tahini milk, and the ice cream is made with it. The restaurant was small with only a few tables inside, but cozy and lovely. The walls in the restaurant also featured amazing murals! The decor was authentic, artistic and beautiful.
This little place was amazing and such a great hidden gem! I’m happy to see more vegan and vegetarian food options popping up in Valladolid since my last visit 5 years ago. Will definitely return again on my next visit. Muchas gracias!
Pros: Creative, unique and healthy meals and drinks , Ingredients grown locally from owner’s ranch , Welcoming, charming and friendly staff
Cons: None

Best tacos ever - Edit
We've been in Mexico for 10 days and eaten at lots of different vegan tacquerias, but this is without doubt the best. We only visited on a whim after getting off a bus starving hungry and am so glad we did. Prices are a little higher than elsewhere, but worth it. Try the Mayan iced coffee (don't let the cayenne put you off!)
