Multiple vegan ‘meat’ choices - Edit
I loved that they marked which items can be veganized and that all bean choices were vegan. No cheese or sour cream but they had multiple choices for meat replacement including ground style, chunks and mushrooms.

I ordered a vegetarian burrito and made the modifications to make it vegan. While I was eating I had to spit it out it had a big piece of steak. I decided to take one more bit and there was more beef. Not to please

I had a similar experience. I'm pretty sure my burrito had pork in it, and I also got the feeling like it wasn't an accident. The owner seemed nice, but I'm not too familiar with the rest of the staff. It could have been purposeful.

Veg Options in Yuba City Needs Improvement - Edit
I was excited based on the reviews I saw on HappyCow, but it might be because we came on a busy Sunday that unfortunately it was very disappointing. I didn’t appreciate the rubbish/trash in front of the establishment making it look abandoned and uncared for. Upon entry the place was large but tables were scattered about fairly close to one another and outdoor seating “was not available yet.” They did/do have vegan options but I was skeptical of the seitan so I didn’t finish my order of the 3 taquitos. Caution to ask for white rice as the other kind does contain chicken broth. Review of the menus, looks like breakfast doesn’t have vegan options, so I recommend inquiring about the lunch one. At this time, I personally wouldn’t return nor would I recommend this place to others that are strictly vegan. I do appreciate that personnel was friendly and hope they would consider looking at these items as opportunities and areas of improvement.

I love and appreciated that this restaurant have such great vegan offerings. There are 4 mock meats that can be use to veganize almost any of their dishes. The portion was good and filing.

Excellent and Plentiful Vegan Options - Edit
We were very impressed by their thoughtful vegan offerings. You can veganize almost anything on the menu, by substituting seitan. I got a taco comb plate and all I had to say was that I wanted the vegan option. It'll automatically come with the vegan rice option, and all of their beans are animal-free. My taco "meat" was delicious and the texture was like ground beef. My husband had the enchilada combo plate - it was very good and the seitan was cubed and had a good (grilled?) texture.

I really enjoyed my lunch today. I had a vegan burrito with chile colorado. Rice was delicate and tasty, beans are perfect consistency and taste, and the seitan (meat substitute) was a great texture and went well with the hot sauce (which appears to be house-made and is gritty and hot...reminded me of Kansas City in a weird sentimental way...I loved it).

Surprisingly Delicious - Edit
This resturaunt was pretty delicious. I went with my family which consists of meat eaters, a vegetarian, and a vegan. This place was pretty great they had the vegan, vegetarian, and the gluten free options clearly marked on the menu. I ordered a combo plate with vegan tacos with the adobada, and a vegan enchilada with mushroom and seitan. The dish came our wirh refried beans and white rice with corn and the entire dish was really delicious. I would definitely come back.

El Zarape is perfect for everyone! - Edit
This great local favorite offers traditional Mexican Food in a relaxed, nice sit down environment. Not too pricey! Always good for omnivores- they recently modernized the menu making it super vegan friendly with TONS of great choices! The best most exciting thing is that at El Zarape the entire menu has several vegan protein options listed right next to the usual meat choice! They have Seitan Chili Verde, Seitan Chili Colorado, Ground Seitan and my favorite is the super savory Seitan Adobada! They also offer yummy Portobela mushroom dishes if seitan isn't for you. All the beans are vegan and they have a tasty vegan rice option too! Just be sure to tell them vegan and they will take care of you.
