Tostones and Talk! - Edit
We stumbled upon this place within our first hour in Havana. We had not done any research before we left for Cuba and assumed we’d be eating nothing but rice during our stay. At first we were just happy to get out of the sudden rainstorm but we were so thrilled by the tasty VEGAN fare and amazing service that we ate here EVERY DAY!!! The staff was incredibly informative and happy to accommodate our dietary restrictions. We would highly recommend the black bean and veggie stew, veggie tacos, veggie sandwich, and the tostones! I miss the food and the friends we made there.

Delicious homemade meals - Edit
We loved this restaurant and went 3 days in a row there to enjoy the delicious vegan meals. All of their meals are homemade and freshly cooked, with the available ingredients in Cuba. The pumpkin salad and the basil peso were our favourite.

My favorite is "Stuffed Eggplant w / Grated Vegetables (without cheese)". Eggplant is the key, soft and juicy.

Brilliant veg / vegan restaurant in Old Havana - Edit
This is a great place, what a feast! We went back a couple of times. So much delicious veggie / vegan food. I'm veg and the lasagne is made with aubergine rather than pasta - it was gorgeous! My daughter had the vegan burger which she loved. It's huge - I saw others take it away as it's too big to eat in one go. We also took a big takeaway bag on our last visit as the Spanish airline we used didn't supply any vegan food. The price was incredibly low, and food tasted so good and fresh. Staff were lovely too. Highly recommended.

Nice place, many vegan options - Edit
We had the vegan sandwich, tacos and croquettes. Especially the croquettes were really nice! Portions were quite big and the price cheap. Quite hard to spot from the street.

Awesome food and service/New location - Edit
El Shamuskia’o just moved to a new location on Consulado#314/Neptuno y Virtudes. I’d say that out of all the restaurants I’ve been to in Havana, El Shamuskia’o offered the most delicious food and did not rip me off. The atmosphere is very friendly and Sheila is a super sweet and genuine waitress.

Cheap and cosy - Edit
We visited twice during our stay in Havana, vegan options stated on the veggie menu. Both times I had the vegan burger which was a bean based patty with some fresh veg (it is impossible to find any vegan meat or cheese replacements in Cuba).

Best veggie restaurant in Havana - Edit
Probably the only one that has a veggie menu separated from the meat one. Lots of options, big portions and all of them are sooooo good. The staff is really friendly. The best whole experience in Havana!

Best place to eat in Havana - Edit
So glad that we found this place. A lot of Cuban restaurants claiming to have vegetarian/vegan options often only offer cabbage (for all courses, and all meals) or crisps. El Shamuskia'o have a special vegan menu full of appetising choices. Proper meals.. and flavoursome too. The food menu is accompanied by an equally diverse juice/smoothie menu. Delicious. Really good value, great food, plenty vegan options, friendly staff and really central location- I recommend making the effort to seek this place out

The best restaurant in Cuba - Edit
I wanted to out 5 fives but I don't know why, it doesn't work. It's actually the best place where I ate in 20 days in Cuba. It's so hard to eat vegan and eat well in Cuba! The gaspacio was so so good. The cocktail (for 1 cuc during happy hour) was so good. The staff super friendly. We had Cuban live music for 1 hour. Everything was perfect.

Excellent place in the heart of the Havana Vieja - Edit
Definitely the best vegan friendly place we ate in during our stay in Havana as it is literally full of vegan and veg options. Highlights the homemade bean burger, the potato fritters served with onion and herbs and the pineapple and ginger juice. Happy hours cocktails for 1 cuc is definitely a pro.

Happy Plant-Based Find with the help of our guide Mirlan - Edit
We booked a private full day tour and researched this restaurant in advance and provided it to the tour company. We could never have found this restaurant on our own but our wonderful travel guide Mirlan of Cuban Trip Compass went out of her way to find this restaurant for us since she knew it was important to us. My husband and I were very pleased to eat a local, 100% plant-based lunch in this delightful whole-in-the-wall. We enjoyed lemonade and watermelon juice, pumpkin and carrot cream which was quite good (not a soup), roasted eggplant dip, tacos, fried plantains and Boronia, an interesting chickpea and pumpkin dish. We were able to enjoy plant-based food with local flavors and ingredients. See business card, map, menu and pictures to make it easier to find.

In my opinion a little bit pricey for the little portion it was. The food was ok but not amazing. The Juice also was not that good. But the place is really cute

Havana one day trip awesome restaurant - Edit
Was on a one day stop off on a cruise. Found this hidden gem by looking at a map and after seeing the listing on happy cow. All I can say is wonderful ! The waitress wasn’t great with English which just made it even more enjoyable for us ! Our Spanish is very bad but it was fun and she was a total sweetheart! Food was great and cheap and very filling. My meat eating sister claims that their eggplant lasagne was the best she ever had! It is very well worth the walk from the pier where cruises let you off. Go there and you won’t be sorry!

Worth to check it out - Edit
This place has any vegan dishes which is quite rare for Havana's restaurants. The Lasagna I tried was fresh and tasty. It used eggplant instead of bread layers. I personally like eggplant to be fully or even overcooked. But if you like it on more raw side you will enjoy it. I'd like to come back and try some other dishes.

Just ok - Edit
The place is quite small and cozy and for Havana they have a lot of vegetarian options, however the food was not that fun. I took the grilled vegetables which turned out to be a green raw salad with very little grilled eggplant, quite disappointing. My boyfriend had a veggie quesadilla which was ok. The hummus was tasty though, as was the fried malanga.

Llittle place with large veggie menu - Edit
A whole menu full of vegetarian & vegan meals - very wholesome and filling. A small unpretentious bar/restaurant, just a few short steps from La Plaza Vieja and worth visiting for a number of reasons: a warm welcome; good hearty food for veggies and their meat-eating friends; reasonable prices; quirky decor (styled after the owner's tattoo!) a small family business (the type that's worth supporting in my opinion) and an extensive cocktail menu, that's only 1 CUC between 6 & 8pm! What could be better than that?!

Yes Veg but Not Good - Edit
Not good food at all. Oh lord, not good! Weird flavor, unnatuall, badly prepared. It's a tiny restaurant, which is fine, but the kitchen is the size of a closet and totally unprofessional. We could see the guy cooking and it was just a disaster. We couldn't even identify the ingredients of the sauce.... Some red gelatinous stuff? Not expensive, but still not worth the money since after one bite we didnt want to eat anything we ordered.. Disappointing all around.
