Tasty Egyptian Food

The vegan banquet consists of starter dips (hummus, babaganoush, etc.) followed by middle Eastern rice with four veggie dishes. Delicious and filling! Only rating it 3-stars because it isn't veggie or vegan.

Pros: Tasty Middle Eastern food, Banquet has a good selection of foods

Adding to the chorus of well-fed customers

We went to El Attar Middle Eastern Grill after a long day of looking at beautiful gardens and flowers for the Carnival of Flowers a couple of weeks ago, and it was a lovely finish to a lovely day. We had the vegan option feast menu and it was yum - the baba ganoush served with the flatbread platter was a particular highlight! Smoky and full of flavour. And the salad they served with it had just the right amount of zing and freshness to offset the creamy dips and carbs. The selection of mains was tasty and interesting - and included a few meals I've never tried before and would like to make at home.

It was extremely busy when we went (the Carnival is Toowoomba's biggest event of the year) and when we got our first course (the flatbreads) it included some dairy dips because the staff gave us the vegetarian option by mistake. We spoke up and they were very apologetic, fixed it right away with the vegan alternative and let my omni partner keep the dairy dip. The very busy night did mean some courses were slow to come out, but it didn't bother us too much as we were happy to slowly work through the AMPLE food. We left full and happy.

We took home some Turkish Delight for dessert on the two hour drive back to Brisbane and it was, indeed, a delight to eat.

To echo another tip: do make sure to specify vegan!

Pros: Delicious, different food, Baba ganoush

Cute tagines

The fava bean entree was ok, nothing special. It came with flatbread that was boring like supermarket packet variety. The moussaka was rich in flavour, but the rice and side salad hardly exciting. Serving the main course in a tagine was a nice touch. I had an Arabic Fanta drink which was quite small. The service was good. Some Egyptian background music would have lifted the atmosphere. Overall it was good but $35 seems rather steep.

Pros: Ample vegan options

Cons: A bit pricey

Dinner here didn’t disappoint

We had a rare dinner opportunity without the kids, and decided to try El Attar.
The staff were helpful and friendly, and the food was authentic and tasted delicious. It was prepared quickly, and there was plenty of it.
We enjoyed more vegan choices than we normally have in our small home town, and will definitely eat here again.

Pros: Delicious food , Friendly knowledgeable staff , Good sized meals

Cons: Exterior doesn’t do it justice, Animal hide artwork on the walls may disturb some

Love this place.

Normally I give 5 🌟's. But not being entirely Vegetarian or Vegan on Happy Cow, can only give a maximum of 4 🌟's.
Really nice casual dining. Although not entirely Vegetarian / Vegan, plenty to choose from and the menu is clearly marked. Been quite a number of times now.

Pros: Great value for money. Always friendly staff. , For my birthday recently, they let us take, in our own cake 🎂

Cons: None to speak of. If you do have an issue , they are very good at listening and very, obliging.
