Glad vegan options exist, but there are better options in Pittsburgh - Edit
I want to start by stating I'm really glad that more and more places carry not only vegan cheese but also plant-based proteins. So, kudos to Ege Mediterranean for having both vegan cheese and vegan "chicken." Also, Ege Mediterranean deserves to be acknowledged for having a clearly labeled vegan section of their menu, which makes ordering easy.
Read moreI ordered the vegan ranchero pizza and a side of hummus. The hummus was pretty lackluster, not really bringing much to the table. The pita was closer to pizza dough than traditional pita.
The pizza had a lot going on, but sometimes a lot is too much. The vegan chicken was quite flavorless. It was also overcooked to the point of being dry.
I wouldn't be opposed to trying Ege Meiterranean again, but I would definitely opt for different selections. However, with so many vegan pizza options available in Pittsburgh, I'd likely opt for a different eatery altogether.
Pros: Separate vegan section in menu, Option of both vegan cheese and vegan "chicken"
Cons: Service left a bit to be desired, Food was mediocre at best
