Delicious food, delightful owner - Edit
Update 10-April-2020
Read moreSadly, they are closed at the 228 Wanhangdu Lu location. The restaurant next door told me that Eat Dumplings is looking for a new space to rent.
My previous review:
Three vegan dumplings: pumpkin (squash), mushroom, and lotus.
Prepared fried, in a soup, or dry (steamed).
Quaint; seating for about 7 people.
The owner doesn't speak English, but communication is easy: just point to the menu. She has a great attitude and seems to love serving customers.

Great local food - Edit
Eat Dumplings was our first meal in Shanghai, and I was really happy to be eating local food after being worried I would be eating vegan burgers and western food! It’s a tiny ‘hole in the wall’ kitchen with the owner serving a small menu of vegan options - vegan mushroom, vegan pumpkin or vegan lotus. You can order as fried, soup or steamed dumplings. We all went for the mushroom soup with a side of beansprouts, and it was really tasty, packed with flavour. The lady running the kitchen is so friendly. The total for three bowls of dumplings with beansprouts and two beers was 168rmb.

Small but so tasty! - Edit
This little charming place is a delight. There are 3 vegan dumplings to chose from an you can get them fried or in a soup (or dry - we didn’t try that). We tryed all three because they were cheap and delisious. 38 rmb per serving and you get about 12 dumpling in a serving. They were all very good but the pumkin-one was our favorite. It had also mushroom in it and was very tasty. There are very few seats (about max 8 persons can fit in there if you squeese) but it is so cosy and local and the menu is in english and the lady there is so sweet. A great experince!

Amazing hospitality and food - Edit
I love this place! I had the pleasure to meet the mother and chat a bit with her (she only speaks Chinese though). She already asked me if I'm vegan as soon as I entered the restaurant, so I had no panic to get served meat.
Read moreI had the small portion of 9 dumplings and 3 kinds of fillings. They're all nice, even though I could not really tell the difference. The broth comes with fresh spring onions and is tasty as hell. Also, there is a slightly spicy sauce you can dip your dumplings in.
The lady is super nice and gives the whole place a relaxed vibe. I will definitely go back there!
Pros: Super friendly staff, Tasty, fresh, non-oily vegan food, Very cheap

Lecker! - Edit
I was more than happy when I found this cute restaurant at this exact address! 😅 Using Google maps over here can be a bit tricky but this one is correct! The dumplings were really good and besides that, the owner was so friendly. She called her daughter to translate (because I was actually already a bit late) and then she stayed a bit longer for me. She made me really happy with that ☺️

Affordable, delicious vegan dumplings - Edit
Small "hole-in-the-wall" restaurant located about a 5-minute walk north from Jing'an Temple. They offer 3-4 types of vegan dumplings (three one the menu and maybe a fourth depending on if additional types were made). The owner used to be a vegan and understands the do's and dont's of veganism. Fillings include lotus & tofu, mushroom & tofu, and bamboo. Have also tried the pumpkin and pea dumplings, which are nice (but not on the permanent menu).
Read morePrices are extremely reasonable (as other posters have mentioned - 2 RMB per dumpling) and you can get various sizes (ranging from 8 to 16 dumplings). They can be served in a soup broth or fried. Customer service is excellent.
They also offer take-away and take-home raw dumplings that you can cook at home.
A great spot for a dumpling breakfast, as they open early.

Amazing place - Edit
Cheap and really tasty vegan dumplings - they have three or four different kinds, depending on the season (the Halloween dumplings were amazing). Always good for a quick lunch, and the owner is a nice girl that’s always up for a chat. The cook, her mother, is really sweet too!
Read moreBowls go from small (8) to medium (12) to big (16) and you can also get them fried if you prefer them that way.
Place is small, so either avoid peak hours or order online if you’re a bigger group. If you can’t find seats as a group they will figure out a solution though :)
Pros: Cheap prices (2 kuai each dumpling), Tastiest vegan dumplings so far in Shanghai
Cons: Restaurant is relatively small

Amazing!! Best veg dumplings! - Edit
Had such a lovely time eating here, easily labeled vegan dumplings with 3 different tasty options. I believe it is a mother and daughter who own/work in the shop and they’re both easy to communicate with and very warm and welcoming! (The daughter has fluent English).

There are three options of dumplings and I think you can get it with the soup or without. But make sure to ask her to make the soup without the animal part. Otherwise, I really enjoyed this place!
