Love having a meat free restaurant in Aber, excellent mains and some lovely cakes for afters. Accomodated a large group in a small cafe which I know is difficult. Highly recommend

I particularly love the savouries. I love the wonderful Buddha bowl. Healthy and less healthy options. They do a lovely afternoon tea. They have special nights occasionally at weekends such as sushi night, American diner and f*sh and chip night.

Fantastic - Edit
We've been to this lovely little bistro a few times now and we are never disappointed. Fantastic selections. We've tried their pies, sunday lunches and amazing cakes. And it is all vegan with great glutenfree options. Both our vegetarian and meat eater friends love coming to this place as well. Lets not forget the staff. So so lovely.

Lovely place - Edit
This is the only sit down vegetarian and vegan place in town that has predominantly vegan menu giving dairy milk, cheese and eggs as an option.
Read moreGail was inspired to Open Dragonfly bistro due to her daugther in law having allergies to gluten, egg and dairy and students asking for healthier options. The cafe has won a number of awards and in 2020 won Aber First Award for Food & Drinks against non veg businesses.
Gail is lovely and appears to be a mother for all providing good nutritious meals for the people and travellers like me of Aberystwyth. She cooks most of the food and sometimes comes out to serve her guests and have a little chat.
I was so tired and sat in for quite a long time only having a hot chocolate with soy milk which was nice. Just before it closed Gail and I had a chat and she recommended the Buddha bowl which was just what my body needed. I took it as a take away but found my self devouring it. It was a simple but tasteful meal of quineo, mixed salad, steamed medley veg and fried sweet potato falafels with some I think soy yogurt dressing.
I found the staff friendly. There is seating for about 20 people and also offer private bookings out of normal operating hours.

A wonderful place to eat - Edit
We were thrilled to discover (via HappyCow) that we were staying in an AirBnB about 10 steps from Dragonfly. We booked in for Sunday Lunch.
Read moreHeck the food is good. It’s traditional home-made style, made with such attention and care that we felt we could eat there every day.
We had the seitan roast, with veg, gravy and excellent roast potatoes. The potatoes were so good, we even ordered a box to take with us.
We followed up with strawberry crumble and phenomenal home-made ice cream.
Dragonfly make cakes too, so we took away a blueberry and lemon cheesecake for later.
When the bill arrived, I thought they’d missed something out because it was so reasonably priced.
Lovely people, lovely atmosphere and terrific food. I’d give it six stars if I could.
Pros: Delicious home-cooked food, Suitable for all, lots of gluten-free options
Cons: None

Simply amazing - Edit
Wow! Staff and food are just incredible. Myself and my partner both had the vegan quiche. Followed by cake and cheesecake with icecream. Everything is clearly homemade, from the bread to the mayonnaise, even the ice cream! 😍 I will definitely be back again for the Sunday lunch. Also the staff made the whole experience lovely. Such down to earth and lovely people😄also very dog friendly for those with canine friends!

Delicious smoothies and generous food - Edit
I've been to the restaurant twice, once for a lunch with my partner and once to get a take away smoothie, in the past few weeks.
Read moreThe food was generous and delicious, the homemade vegan ice cream had great flavour and texture and I'm wondering why they still offer dairy ice cream as the vegan one is so perfect.
I was very impressed by the smoothies (I tried strawberry and banana) - again the texture and taste were great.
The staff is professional and polite.
The atmosphere of the restaurant could be improved (It's called Dragonfly, but the decor is quite bland with a few mismatched paintings and nothing about dragonflies - I love the rainbow rug though!)
I just wish they swapped to full vegan, as it seems most everything is vegan here anyway.
I recommend having meals here.
Pros: Quantity and quality, Smoothies, Home made vegan ice cream
Cons: Not fully vegan, Decor could be improved?

Thank you so much for taking the time to review us. We’re so pleased you enjoyed our food and drinks :)
Read moreWe’ve always prided ourselves for giving everyone choices as we cater to both vegans and vegetarians.
While we understand the paintings may not be to your taste, they hold great sentimental value to our family establishment - they are by my late father-in-law. My business partner (mother-in-law) and I were very keen to have his paintings on display.

We managed to get in before they closed on Sunday for a delicious roast dinner.
Read moreWe both had the vegan loaf with all the trimmings. We were so full by the end of it sadly we didn't have room for one of their vegan desserts.
We did take a slice of cake away with us though.

The food, service and cakes are great. The hard part is deciding which flavour is my favourite...so far the chocolate and marshmallow with chocolate ice-cream is up there but that could change! Has to be the best place for cakes in town.

Best place in Aber for vegans - Edit
This place is hands down the best place in Aber for vegans and vegetarians. They have so many choices, especially at lunch times, for us vegans. The owners are very friendly and know whats in the food as its made fresh. Love the fact that they list allergens so those of us with allergies know what we can have and if in doubt, just ask. Their selections of cakes are amazing, my fav has to be their spiced carrot cake. Today, I tried something new - Passionfruit cake and it was soooo good. It was vegan and glutenfree - tell me where else in Aber can you get that!

Excellent - Edit
I ate here for lunch the other day with a friend. Hard to choose from the good range on the menu including soup, pasta, 3 wraps, savoury crumble, burger, and something else. I had the chestnut & veg crumble in the end which was lovely and came with chips and salad. I had room for cake. The best cake ever! It was vegan spiced rum and chocolate cake and was utterly divine. I was meant to be returning a few days later with other friends but plans had to change and I couldn't go - gutted!

Ice cream sundaes! - Edit
We went in for tea and cake / dessert. Four flavours of home made vegan ice cream to choose from! My 3yo had two scoops in a fun kids portion complete with sprinkles. I had a VEGAN SUNDAE which was awesome and totally made my day, and my omni husband had a vegan & gf blueberry and lemon cake which he described as "incredible". Savoury menu looked inviting too. They do veggie and vegan here, and they are doing it really nicely. Great space, friendly staff. Such a find.

Great find for many vegan options & good coffee. - Edit
I had the vegan burger with chips & salad on brioche bun. Home made vegan mayonnaise really set this meal off nicely. For desert there was a glorious mixed berry fruit Crumble with home made vegan ice cream. Perfectly made if you prefer the taste of the fruit to an overload of sugar. Just nicely tart tasting. I also had a soy latte coffee which was on a par with Melbourne coffees ( I haven’t found many in the UK that are this good). Will definitely be back to The Dragonfly Bistro while I am in area.
