Lovely little find, food was great - Edit
This restaurant was filled with mostly students and a few foreigners. The older couple that ran the restaurant were so cute! They didn't really speak any English but they tried and we tried and they were so helpful and explained what to do with the hotpot. The ajussi asked if we wanted beef, and said I was vegan he understood and brought us a vegetable filled hot pot and showed us what to do and how long to wait. The food was amazing, the owners were extremely nice and cute. We felt very accommodated. Would recommend and we'd love to go back asap. It was really cheap around 23,000KRW with a beer as well. Would give 5 stars but the app doesn't allow 5 stars for places that aren't 100% vegan =(

My favorite meal in Korea! - Edit
I can’t stop thinking about this! The owner understood me when I asked for the vegan kalguksu and tried his best to make sure I understood the instructions about cooking and about the “service” which just means free rice at the end to soak up the broth. It was delicious, and do not skip the rice service after! Best part of the meal.

Very good food and fun experience! - Edit
We mentioned that we are vegan and they gave us options to order. We ate kalguksu (knife cut noodle soup), tofu mandu (dumplings), and Dotori-mug (acorn jelly) salad. Once we ate all, they gave us rice to make a porridge from the leftover soup. The staff were super nice and fun!

Delicious food and very accommodating host! - Edit
I mentioned vegan while ordering and the host us a very delicious pot of soup noodles. We cooked it for about 8 mins. The best part was when only soup was left, the host came with some seaweed rice and cooked it more for another 5 mins. It was so good!

Second time I had a meal there - Edit
After a year I went there for a second time. The soup is really good but it is a little bit spicy. Beside the knife-cut wheat flour noodles there are a lot of mushrooms, a few potatoes and some green leaves in it.
Read moreYou will get the soup in a pot and you will need to cook it for about 10 minutes. Don't finish the soup because in the end you will get rice to mix it with it. You need to stir it constantly for about 2 minutes or more. We couldn't understand the instruction properly.
And when you order the dumplings you need to ask for the vegan mandus, these ones are filled with mushrooms and vegetable.
The staff is an old couple and they are really friendly and try their best to communicate with you.

Delicious - Edit
I love this chestnut noodle kalguksu. The owner understands the word „vegan“ and the dish comes with a lot of mushrooms. Its filling and you can add more noodles, ricecake or ramen for an additional price. The dumplings are only vegan if ordered as a side dish. Vegan dumplings cannot be ordered into the kalguksu, which doesn‘t make a lot of sense.

Really cool experience and lush noodles - Edit
We showed our translation of "we're vegetarian, don't eat fish or meat etc..." on Papago when we arrived and the lady running the restaurant understood and said, "ah, vegan" which made us confident that we wouldn't be served meat.
Read moreWe were brought a pan of broth with noodles and loads of mushrooms that was put on the hot plate in front of us, and we were instructed to wait 8 minutes, stirring it intermittently. We also asked for the vegetable dumplings.
After 8 minutes, we could finally dig into the noodles, though we were instructed not to drink the broth as it would be used later to make rice porridge. We broadly adhered, though it was tricky because the broth was really tasty. The noodles were deliciously chewy and the mushrooms were some of the best I've ever had. The dumplings were obviously good too.
Once we had fished out the noodles and mushrooms from the broth, the staff added some rice, chopped veg and dried seaweed, and we were told to stir it 200 times. It took a little longer than that to reach a silky texture, but I'm glad we persevered because the flavour of the resulting porridge was amazing.
Pros: Fun experience with the hot plate, Porridge was great

Okay experience👍 - Edit
Visited 5Oct22. I don't speak Korean, so I showed the male elderly owner (?) photos from Happycow and said Vegan? Kalguksu? OK? He understood and I got the same dish as others. I tried to order the jeon too but he said something with "Andwae" (and hands, put cross sign) so I just dropped it, maybe it was unavailable?
Read moreKRW 10,000: The soup itself wasn't like very spicy, more peppery, flavour wise nothing very surprising, its the usual Korean spicy flavouring. I didnt request for the rice dish as I was already full. Not sure if it's part of it.
Service is slower at peak period; the place was packed with Korean locals at dinner time. The Korean couple beside me and other tables were all fighting for the one male elderly's attention, so recommend to go during off peak.
The male elderly person was real nice and friendly however and I would recommend this place if you're nearby.

Good food for windy and cold days! - Edit
I walked in and told them I was vegetarian and they took care of everything. The food options were more vegetarian (they served the rice with egg) than vegan but if you tell them to not serve the egg, they’ll remove it as well. Really good food since it was so cold and windy yesterday, right amount of spicy (my friends found it very spicy hahah). Plus the people there are very kind and sweet!

All kinds of acorn dishes - Edit
This restaurant specializes in acorn-based dishes that are rather uncommon elsewhere. Not only can you get good and flavorful Korean food, but noodles, dumplings and even kimchi are made on location.
Read moreHowever, their kimchi contains fish sauce and most dishes are prepared with egg and meat by default, so you have to clarify that you need vegan/vegetarian food when ordering!
The plant-based options include acorn noodle soup (도토리칼국수), acorn mushroom pancake (도토리버섯전), acorn jelly salad (도토리묵무침) and acorn dumplings with vegetable filling (도토리야채만두) - all these dishes are normally shared among several people. If you eat alone, you can order the acorn noodle soup and get a big pot with a single serving all for yourself (price is 9000 KRW, not 7000 KRW).
Portion size is good and, with less than 10.000 KRW per person, prices are very affordable.
Personally, I loved the chewiness of the noodles, which are made partially with acorn flour, and the spicy soup felt so comforting in winter. In fact, I was surprised by the flavor of the broth so that I had to inquire about the ingredients. They confirmed that they do not use animal ingredients for the basic soup anymore (although they did use shrimps in the past).
It is a rather large restaurant that can host up to 90 people, and it has operated for more than a decade. Overall, a vegan-friendly restaurant with food that accommodates vegans as well as non-vegans.

Great experience. Great food - Edit
Tell them you are vegan. They are very vegan friendly. They noodle mushroom soup was great! FYI, the bowl of rice on the side is for when you finish all the noodles. Leave approx 2cm of broth in soup pot and then mix in the rice and boil it down for 2-3 minutes continually stirring. Was good way to finish off meal.
