Good stuff - Edit
Braving COVID for one of a very small number of meals out for us these days. My wife is a huge Dishoom fan, it’s her birthday so we’re taking precautions and heading into Edinburgh. We had a booking and there were staff greeting us first outside and then just inside the door in order to stop crowding. We sat downstairs - tables well spaced apart, numbers of diners limited. Most staff good wi mask wearing, a few wi nothing at all… The menu for vegans is pretty good -
Read moreA few interesting salads, chickpea dishes. All the food was very nice , just a wee bit limited. Most of the non vegan menu could be 100% plant based and no one would notice the difference. The Dhal Makhani we make at home wi soya cream, it’s superb. No butter required. Recommend food but cmon guys #Veganuary

Christmas lunch - Edit
Enjoyed Dishoom for a Christmas work lunch. Staff were very knowledgeable and advised on options to choose alternative plates to my non-veg/ veg workmates. I enjoyed what I had but would be far easier to have a specific vegan Christmas set menu. I also had less food than my workmates but enjoyed what I had!!

Breakfast at Dishoom - Edit
We both had the sausage naan and unlimited vegan chai for breakfast. Both were really tasty. There’s a separate vegan menu on request and we found it hard to decide what to have as all the options sounded amazing!

Delicious breakfast - Edit
There are several vegan options and they are clearly thought out and not an afterthought to tick a box. The oat milk chai is amazing, the perfect blend between sweet and spicy and bottomless too, make sure to give it a try.

Lovely Indian restaurant with vegan options - Edit
This Indian restaurant serves meat but they also have a full vegan menu (so be sure to ask the waiter).
Read moreI came here before the corona lockdown in 2019 and had a vegan breakfast called ‘The vegan Bombay’. It’s basically the vegan version of a full English breakfast and it was quite delicious. I also had the vegan chai latte and the refills are free which was nice.
I believe it’s a restaurant chain so they have restaurants in several places in the UK (like London). The one in Edinburgh was quite big so making a reservation wasn’t necessary. But I would reserve a table in London for example because it can be quite busy.
Pros: Full vegan menu available , Reasonable prices , Friendly staff and fast service

Amazing breakfast - Edit
Great service and amazing food. The vegan menu is great and the server took their time explaining the options. Be aware of the little cross contamination warning on the vegan sausage Naan roll! I had the vegan Bombay costing £13.50. It is very well presented and tasted lovely

Love dishoom. It may be a chain, but its a great place for a nice meal out. The vegan food is clearly marked and they do some incredible dishes (the chole puri is a must!)
Read moreThe mocktails are the best I have every had - not overly sweet. Their dry old fashioned is a particular favourite.
Also a nice place to go for breakfast, with a range of indian inspired food. Loved the oat chai and the cooked breakfast with masala beans and tofu!

The Dishoom first for us as a vegan/non-vegan couple. We were both delighted to see equal choices which were delicious. We’d recommend a visit if you’re in Edinburgh.

Way better than expected - Edit
This is a very nice place, quite fancy looking but not super expensive. I was disappointed with the vegan menu at first because most things on it seemed like side dishes rather than mains. I ordered the gunpowder potatoes and a bowl of greens. Both dishes were absolutely delicious - way beyond my expectations. The flavours were sensational. My friend and I also shared the okra fries as a starter and they were really tasty too. It was really a perfect meal.

Very impressed! - Edit
What a find! Me and my husband went for a weekend away and had breakfast at Dishoom. We both had the “vegan bombay” which was a spicy and tasty take on a fry up. The coffee was also great and the staff were attentive and very friendly. As soon as we left I googled Dishoom to find one closer to home to visit again😄

Great good and service - Edit
Gladly provided separate vegan menu on request and server was helpful in putting together a range of side dishes as the only main curry was too spicy for my companion and they serve dishes on a sharing basis. A bit more range would have been good and toilets are 2 floors downstairs from dining area which is a lot of stairs tho they did offer my disabled companion use of the lift at the very back. Would go again, very busy and a coffee order mixup at the end but overall I liked what they cook and just wish for main choices.

Favourite Indian Food Place - Edit
I absolutely love the vegan dishes they have! Tried most things of the vegan dinner menu and all were amazing. Service was very attentive and friendly and I also very much like the atmosphere in the dining room on the 1st floor. Food seems very authentic to me (although I have never been to India, so I cannot say for sure). Nice spice level too and balanced meals.
Read moreThe only pity is that of all the vegan dishes on the menu there at only two curries, both with chick peas. I hope that they will offer more in the future.
I would recommend you to avoid the very busy evening hours though, if you don't want to wait for a table outside. They don't take reservations for groups smaller than 6 people, which is not ideal.
Pros: Delicious food, Many vegan options, Vegan menu, Atmosphere, good service
Cons: No reservations below 6 people, Waiting outside during peak time (dinner)

Great vegan brunch! - Edit
Dishoom does a great brunch and they have a separate menu listing the options for vegans. Their vegan akuri (a twist on scrambled egg made with onion and soy) and the vegan sausage naan roll (served with vegan cream cheese and chilli jam) is especially good.

Dinner for two at Dishoom - Edit
Saturday night meal out at Dishoom in Edinburgh. No facility for reserving and an hour plus wait for a table. Staff very nice though - umbrellas for those outside as well as a mint tea. Good choice of cocktails to be had in the downstairs bar whilst waiting for the table. Staff very good with allergies - these were written down on the paper menu, which the chef returned to us with the unsafe options scored out. Food came out very quick so meal felt a bit hurried. Food authentic, fresh as tasty - but not knock-out flavours, so doesn’t get five stars. Quite a pricey meal for what it was too, but enjoyed and would return
