I dream of these burgers - Edit
These burgers are amazing! The volcano burger was our favorite from the ones we tried. It’s spicy and delicious. They were all great though. I wish they would have more locations throughout the US, it’s that GOOD!

SO GOOD! - Edit
Found this place by magic while on a road trip and made sure to stop by again on our way back. Tried the volcano and chicago burgers, which were probably some of the best vegan burgers I’ve ever had. The mango shake and North African salad are also great.

Great Selection of vegan burgers! - Edit
I love being able to go somewhere that is all vegan! And this place makes it so easy to take anyone along. My daughter loves the shakes! I found some of the food to be a little greasy (like the chili fries, but I guess that makes sense). They offer a lot of choices in burgers!

Great Burgers and Chili Cheese Fries - Edit
Placed a carry-out order from Dirt Burger that included 2 hamburgers for non-vegan eaters. We ordered the Original Dirt Burger, the Chicago Burger and the Austin BBQ. All 3 burgers were great and very tasty! The burgers held together very well. We also ordered an order of the Dirt Balls and the Sweet Potato Dirt Balls along with an order of the Chili Cheese Fries. The Dirt Balls filled our car with a delightful smell and were very good. The Sweet Potato Dirt Balls were good (but to be candid, there wasn't much difference in taste between them). The Chili Cheese Fries were huge and were delicious! My daughter thought that they were the best item that we received! Lots of chili, fries were crisp and there were jalapenos on top to make it nice and spicy. Overall, were very good and will definitely make it back here again on the next trip to Des Moines!

Des Moines’ much needed vegan joint - Edit
House-made veggie patties that carry a long list of delicious, whole ingredients. Unique menu with burgers including things like onion rings and fried pickles. Tried the Chicago burger which was masterfully flavorful and uniquely delicious, loved the pesto aioli addition. The fries were also delicious and overflowing from the cup. Forgot to add ranch on my order and on my way out cashier got me some free of charge. For a town that has such few vegan restaurants this place not only fills a hole but knocks it out of the park.
Read morePros: House-made vegetable patties (not imposs/beyond), Friendly/helpful staff, Amazing price for quality (>$15 for burger+fry)
Cons: Pretty bare interior, better for takeout, Ranch was too watery (but still good overall)

Fast food, but healthy and vegan - Edit
Went there with my daughter when we were passing through Des Moines, not very many vegan options in Des Moines. We were in a hurry and was able to order quick take out burgers-- seriously they had her food to us in

My go to lunch spot - Edit
Everyone has days they can't pack a lunch, I used to get really stressed when that happened, but not anymore, I go to Dirt Burger where I can eat everything on the menu because everything is Vegan. The food is wonderful and I have options, but the Cobra Kai and Sweet Potato Dirt Balls are my favorite. Did I mention that I love the staff. Worth a trip off the interstate even if you aren't vegan.

Stopped here on the way to Nashville and it was so good! Got the volcano, the bbq, an order of fries (which were the best ones I’ve probably ever had), and a chocolate malt. No complaints! And I love that the burgers were homemade veggie and not beyond or impossible

A Great Find! - Edit
So, last year, I drove cross country and with the help of HappyCow, was able to find many wonderful vegan restaurants along the way. I am finally getting around to writing some reviews. Out of the many restaurants I stopped at, I had 4 absolute favorites, and this was one of them.
Read moreAside from having a cool, intriguing name, Dirt Burger has some unique options, i.e., Dirt Balls, instead of boring old French fries to go with your burger. Everything on the menu is vegan, which is always a plus, and the food, while quick, is made to order. The place is nothing fancy; it's basically a burger joint, but the food is delicious, as is the homemade lemonade.
Had the opportunity to eat here twice on my way west, and twice again on my way back home a month later. Highly recommend.
Pros: Delicious food, Excellent service, Dirt Balls - what's not to love?
Cons: No cons.

Seriously great burgers. Don't go in expecting beyond meat though! The patties are their own thing and compliment the toppings perfectly! It's the only place I go where I'm not disappointed to hear they don't have beyond meat.

Really solid vegan burgers - Edit
After a 6 hour trip I had this delivered to my hotel room and it came very quickly! I got the Austin BBQ burger and a side of the dirt balls. The burger was among the best vegan burgers I’ve had - gourmet / specialty style burgers. It is was just the right amount of spicy. The dirt balls were OK but not enough to warrant losing a star. Definitely check this place out - good prices too!

Pardon the ac/dc reference; I couldn’t resist. Anyhow, I got the Austin BBQ burger and the little Elvis shake and sweet potato dirt balls. Everything was delicious, super-affordable, and was prepared remarkably quickly! The staff were very friendly as well! I can’t wait to go back!

Favorite place in Iowa! - Edit
Holy [censored], Dirt Burger is absolutely amazing.
Read moreTheir food is bomb and their staff/management is so friendly and helpful. My boyfriend and myself used to eat there at least once a week but unfortunately money is short right now so we don't get to go weekly anymore. But, we do try to go as much as we possibly can. Their "burgers" are all SOOO yummy. Our favorite is the Austin BBQ but honestly you can't go wrong with any of them. The chili cheese fries are a must! Now they have ICE CREAM too 🤤😍
Pros: Food, Staff
Cons: Only location is downtown(come to the west side 😊)

Great Vegan Burger Place - Edit
My partner and I got 2 combo meals, and it was 25$. We both had the volcano burger, which had an onion ring, zesty cheeze, and a delicious slaw on it. The patty was made by dirt burger, which is a nice break from the beyond / impossible patty. There was also a spicy sauce coating over the patty that was great. The fries were skinny and delicious.
