We arrived 15 minutes early (before opening time) and with one extra person but we were pleasantly surprised at how quickly they accommodated us. We ordered the recommended four ‘surprise’ vegan options, all bursting with flavour, after the staff had carefully checked for any ingredients we didn’t like. The very friendly staff went to great lengths to explain every dish in perfect English. Would give 5 stars but because they serve non-vegan options the app does not allow this. This is a perfect venue for a mixed group (vegan/non-vegan).

We namen de 5 gangen verassingsmenu. Elk gerecht was volwaardig en zeer smaakvol. Met veel liefde bereid. Prijs kwaliteit top. De eigenaars zijn zeer vriendelijk en doen je thuis voelen.

I really enjoyed this small restaurant with my non-vegan family. I ordered the grilled seitan in ratatouille sauce but the owner made a mistake and brought me the seitan with mushrooms instead. It was delicious and I didn't care at all. My mom got the pasta with pumpkin and veggies and it was great too.

The food was nice but not great. I has a pasta and it was ok but not one that i would order again. I think it’s better when you take the menu. What i did like was the fact that there was a tapas dish with vegan apero.

Though the front of the restaurant doesn't stand out too much, dinner here stood out as our favourite culinary experience on our trip to Hasselt. Staff was friendly and good-humoured and we also had the pleasure of meeting the charismatic chef of the restaurant. The interior isn't very trendy or contemporary, making the establishment somewhat less suited for a fancy dinner, but the food more than makes up for it. Our vegan surprise menu was varied, was made with seasonal ingredients and the dishes were creative. No boring salads or simple burgers and chips. The menu needs a bit of work however, since there were non-vegan dishes under the header "vegan" (containing cheese of dairy). All in all, would definitely visit again!

Friendly staff, not a lot of room so advised to call in advance.
The vegan bbq's during summer are very good! And don't forget the veggie thursdays. Please take note, this one's top of the vegan eating bill in Hasselt, Belgium.

My favorite place in Hasselt - Edit
De Preuverie is my favourite restaurant in Hasselt. They have a classic cuisine, but with interesting vegetarian dishes. So many to choose from, I invariably get choice stress. My go-to option are the veggie croquettes: a fried patty with seasonal vegetable filling. You always get 3 different ones. Often I also just go for the suprise veggie menu, which has never dissapointed me. I trust this chef to always make me something delicious.
Read moreThe fact that they also serve meat, makes it a great place to take family and co-workers, who otherwise might not want to join you on a vegetarian dinner. If you have strong ethical objections to meat though, this might not be the best place for you.
If you are in Hasselt in the summer, try their vegetarian BBQ on Wednesdays. Do make a reservation for that though, as Peter will be preparing something especially for you.
The also do catering for the holidays.

I've been going quite often to De Preuverie, and they never let me down. Also for take out, they provide great service. It's quite small (cozy, not too small), and the staff is very friendly. They use daily products, and make suggestion to fit the meal to your personal expectations as a vegetarian. If you go on Thursday's they have a discout vegetarian menu (Veggie Thursday).
