Yummy vegan bratwurst. Lots of toppings

Okay okay okay y’all. This place is within walking distance to Alder Hotel and Ochsner. It’s kinda loud with the tv going but it’s chill on the lanai. Funny thing: I called (Ferret St) to ask what the brand was for the vegan dogs and they said Field Roast. So was satisfied bc Field Roast makes the only hot dog I will buy. Yippie! But from the photos I never saw a hotdog, all I saw were sausages. I decided to call the other location to clarify, but I just kept getting their voicemail which is oddly a recording of a British? Lady? Anyway, I studied the menu and reviews and I was curious to try the spicy chipotle sausage so we headed there. Okay for the funny part, I asked the guy taking my order if they have the Field Roast stadium dogs. He said, I have no clue what you’re talking about. I smiled and said thats okay and I ordered the Chicago dog vegan with the spicy chipotle. So another guy was near the register and I asked who’s answering the phone tonight he said me and so I asked him the same question and he said yes, you mean the bratwurst. I said that answers my question. 🙃 And I don’t know why, but y’all, ain’t that funny! I feel a hot dog place should know that a bratwurst is NOT a hot dog. Okaaay, but i wasn’t rude. He indicated he wanted to understand what I meant, so I explained that Field Foast has an actual hot dog called Signature Stadium. And he said he didn’t know that and that yah they didn’t have it.

Sooooo it was kinda loud talking over the tv which was playing the New York Giants getting their butts whipped by the Dallas Cowboys. I said, it ain’t gon be that hard to find us, they can figure it out, let’s go sit outside. Then I sat with my back to the tv like a strict morman on a bench.

They brought the food out and we ate ate ate it up! I never finished writing this review cause I was chowing down! The end

Pros: Good for groups, Outdoor seating, clean bathroom , Cute decor and wax paper

Cons: No vegan hot dogs! Just sausages

Craft hot dogs

For a full meal you need at least two hot dogs. They're great, and the choice of toppings is so wide. I've tried all vegan dogs and the apple sage is my favorite.

Pros: Casual atmosphere, Kid friendly

Cons: Can be slow at times

great service

Good drink options, friendly staff, and I really enjoyed the vegan option! It took me 2 bites to get to the bratwurst, it was so loaded with relish and sauerkraut. Wasn’t a fan of some of the decor (pictures of happy pigs flying with the hot dogs) but otherwise the atmosphere was nice

The "Vegan Banger" is a Banger

Awesome outdoor seating. I ordered the "Vegan Banger" house special (Vegan bratwurst with sauerkraut, dill relish, grilled onions, tomatoes, and Creole mustard). Thoroughly enjoyed my experience!

Decent

4 vegan “dogs” you can add toppings to plus the menu item of “the vegan werewolf” “dog”. I got the latter, and my husband got a plain “dog” with mustard. We both liked the taste. I found $8-9/“dog” to be a bit expensive. Also, I was disappointed the fries are done in the same fryer as meat (though was not surprised).

Pros: Tasty vegan options, Cute atmosphere

Cons: Expensive , No vegan sides

Yum!

Dat Dog has a fun atmosphere and is great for a laid back bite, and is very friendly for eating with vegans and omnis alike. Field Roast dogs are always a good choice! $8 can feel like a bit much to pay for a hot dog, but every now and then it's worth the splurge.

Pros: vegan options

Cons: pricey
