Had the Basil Chili w/ mixed veggies. Added rice.
Was very good, a bit chaorcold wok veggies, so much taste, with really good (homali) rice. €128

Great place to visit with omni friends

Dandy's is an omni restaurant but caters for different diets - it has lots of vegan options, and is 100% gluten free. There is very detailed labelling. This makes it a good choice to visit with omni-friends who are interested in organic and healthy food.

I've visited many times and enjoyed the salads, stir fries with brown rice, and most recently the "tofu cakes and veggie penne" pasta dish. The tofu cakes on top were delicious, it had lots of veggies, was coated with a delicious homemade nut pesto, and filling. The portions are generous. I love their homemade sauces. Vegan burger could be improved - whilst tofu cakes taste nice, would be better with a more interesting patty to balance out the bread.

They serve alcohol, and had some wine specials on a card on the table during my last visit, which included a delicious white wine (labelled vegan) :)

I've always experienced friendly service.

They've moved location, still in Sheung Wan, to a location more tucked away on Upper Lascar Row. It's a quiet street in the evenings (you might not realise Dandy's is there), but busier in the daytime.

We got quite a lot of mosquito bites so bring along insect repellent if you are prone to bites.

Everything is great, except the vegan burger

Lovely little restaurant, clearly labeled vegan items (of which there are several!), nice atmosphere. I had the spring roles to start which were great, then the vegan burger for main, which was bland and uninteresting. No seasoning or sauce inside, very dry and difficult to eat. A real shame when they have so many vegan options on the menu! Dessert was lovely though. Will definitely go back to try other mains

Pros: Vegan options, staff, food, generally nice

Cons: Vegan burger bland and plain

100% Gluten Free & Organic

Chef Vivi and her staff are warm and welcoming. I love to come here for healthy organic foods for a super reasonable price! Most other places raise their prices incredibly high, but here they actually give a very fair price for the quality of produce they are using! This place is tucked away on a souvenir street in Sheung Wan. It’s like finding a little Oasis among the all the busyness of HK. Try the ViLife juice - so refreshing.

Pros: Lots of Vegan options, Friendly, warm staff, 100% Gluten Free

Re-opened

Restaurant has re-opened and serves healthy veg and non-veg meals. Only a handful of vegan options. The tofu eggplant salad was 90% lettuce, but still tasted nice. The vegan burger was hugely disappointing, with flavourless deep fried tofu, unseasoned eggplant and the tiniest drop of pesto that was only tasted in one bite. Prices semi-expensive.

Top 5 Restaurants for Eating Vegan/Gluten-Free in Hong Kong

This healthy eating cafe is such a hidden gem in the Sheung Wan district. As you can tell from the name, this little restaurant boasts of its organic ingredient in its foods to offer. Once you enter the cafe, you can notice a little corner filled with Dandy's own branded products and promotional materials for a healthy and organic lifestyle. You can also see the owner Vivi Cheung's master/certificate in nutrition from a local HK university right in the corner.

What's most valuable and appealing to me from Dandy's is that on their menu they have listed all the major ingredients and the COMPLETE NUTRITION INFORMATION BREAKDOWN for each food item, including desserts! I have yet to see any other restaurant to be able to provide this on their menu. But we all know that knowing what exactly goes into your food can be extremely important to eating healthy.

But do note that this cafe also offers non-vegan and non-vegetarian food items. The idea is more on gluten-free and low-GI food. Also, the foods are pretty traditional Western dishes like pastas, fish steaks, etc. Nothing as creative as Grassroots.

For the dessert, I've tried their gluten-free almond cake, which is mainly made of almond flour. The cake was pretty moist but the vanilla extract flavor was very overpowering....In terms of flavor I think it's average, nothing special. But hey, we know that's all good stuff that goes into it, and that's all it needs.

Dandy's Organic Cafe - Hong Kong

Just to add also... Alcoholic drinks on sale at Dandy's haven't been checked for vegetarian / vegan suitability. (see weblinks below for more info)

www.vegsoc.org/alcohol
www.barnivore.com

Dandy's don't bill themselves as an exclusively vego eatery. Thus I don't see that selling non vego booze is any kind of misrepresentation. If though you are looking to have veg*an booze then Dandy's isn't for you.

Also I read a press article linking the manager of Dandy's with the now defunct O Green Cafe. The manager of Dandy's tells me she parted from O Green Cafe in Dec 2013.

The dish labelling against vegan etc is very helpful. Food was tasty. I was in a party of 4. All of us enjoyed it. I've a friend who has also been based on my recommendation. He also said his group enjoyed Dandy's.

Pros: Good dish diet suitability labeling

Cons: Booze not checked for vego friendliness

very tasty veg food in non veg restaurant

This small restaurant on Jervois Street has an extensive menu serving both meat and non meat dishes.

The menu is so clearly labeled, so it's easy to spot the vegan dishes and gluten free ones. The menu also lists the nutrition values of each dish.

we had the tofu and lentil salad and also the crispy sweet and sour tofu with pineapple. both were good. we had dandelion tea as a drink.

prices are a little high at 100-150 per dish but fairly standard in this area.

Pros: clear menu, tea and coffee

Cons: little pricey, Not all veg
