Hungry Horse, Montana???? Population 650, with a fully vegan restaurant in a state I would consider a vegan desert??? You must be out of your mind!!!! Yet, here they are, making some amazing food. All of these 5 star reviews can’t be wrong. I only have one grouse———I ordered the bowl of mushroom soup which came with a “demi-loaf”. First, the “bowl” had the volume of a large mug, I.e., not large at all. Second, ‘demi’ is ‘half’; and demi-loaf is from the French for half of a baguette. The “demi-loaf” which came with the soup was literally the size of a fat index finger (see the image from the most recent previous post). I don’t care if we’re talking half a baguette or half of a boule, or half a loaf of standard bread, a wonderful soup should be accompanied by a sizable piece of bread which you get to tear apart and dip in your soup. This finger of bread I received would have drowned on the first dunking……really a disappointment.

Best eats around Glacier - Edit
This was my favorite place to go during our stay at Glacier! My husband who is non-vegan was fist to mention to come here two other times after our initial visit. Everything is so fresh and the sauces are excellent. You will leave feeling full, nourished, and with energy ready for your next hike. The huckleberry smoothie is delicious and great for post or pre hike mini meal.

Great Glacier Option! - Edit
Me & my non-vegan friends really enjoyed our burgers & pizza here! The location is about 10 minutes outside Glacier NP west entrance so it was a great post-hiking option! That said, the only thing I wish was different were slightly larger portions, especially for the burgers! We could’ve taken down 2 easily 🤣

A must stop! Not just a restaurant to Fill you, a special treat. - Edit
We ate here twice. It was that good. I am the solid Vegan of the family and our two teen boys ended up craving this place for the 2nd trip of the week. My husband said his Beet burger was the beat burger he ever had. The owner has created some amazing sauces and dressings which I find lacking at restaurants. Each dish is created by the chef from scratch. No frozen vegan patties here. They even make their own organic chocolate. I recommend this for people who are trying to share their love of Vegan food to non vegan friends and family. Try the taco pizza!! #Veganuary

This surprising vegan restaurant in Hungry Horse was such a wonderful gift. It's on the way from Whitefish to West Glacier. I came on a day that didn't have any pastries left because they had a big catering order, sad me.
I got a side of the pesto salad, spaghetti and meatballs, and smoked black bean burger.
I'm typically not a fan of a pasta salad, but this one definitely surprised me. It was so bright with tons of veggies.
The meatballs in me spaghetti was a bit extra toasted, but that's alright. I can't describe the flavors here, but I think the best word is "fresh". There's something unfamiliar about the sauce though... maybe because it didn't taste like it came out of a jar? Lol.
The smoke black bean burger I found to be a bit on the sweet side however that is to be expected considering there is a BBQ sauce.
Overall, I'm so glad that this restaurant exists and it has definitely saved me on my short visit. I would definitely come back next time I'm in Whitefish.

Delicious! - Edit
We stopped by after a day at Glacier National Park and were delighted to finally have a fully vegan menu -- it was so hard to choose! The bleu cheese pizza was excellent, as was the burger and especially the huckleberry shakes. We liked it all so much that we went out for drinks at a nearby distillery and then stopped back to pick up take out to carry back to our hotel.

Terrific vegan restaurant near Glacier - Edit
It was a wonderful surprise to find this vegan restaurant very close to our rental cabin when visiting Glacier. The food tastes homemade and fresh, and everything we had was delicious (pizzas, lemon tart, huckleberry shake). The owner is super nice, and eagerly shared her knowledge about the area. She has a real passion and talent for serving healthy and tasty vegan food.

I’m so happy we found this place! - Edit
How awesome to find a plant-based restaurant while visiting Glacier National Park. It was obvious the owners love creating new vegan/GF meals and desserts. Everything is home made or gathered locally (salad from their garden). Unfortunately they are closed Mondays and Tuesdays, so we couldn’t eat there EVERY night we were in the area. One evening the special was rice and beans with collard greens. It was so good, we bought a second order to go and used the leftovers to make wraps to take with us on our hiking trip the next day. Try whatever is the daily special — you can’t lose! Or try one of their pizzas. Don’t miss this place!

I thought I was dreaming - or maybe my GPS was off - when I saw a plant- based restaurant listed just outside Glacier National Park... BUT IT'S TRUE! The food, the dining area, and the owners are all INCREDIBLE so check this place out! I had the Italian meatball pizza and a weedeaters salad which, btw, was picked fresh from the owners' garden earlier that morning!

This is truly a hidden gem! The food is so delicious, nourishing, and filled with so much good energy. The owners are the sweetest, you truly feel at home in this place. Their food is all organic and gluten free, they get a lot of their ingredients fresh from their garden and the menu / food items change with the season, HOW COOL! Beyond delicious! Dan d”Lion is so yummy, but is also a place that will feel like a home cooked meal made by a loved one — it has an extra special magic. You won’t want to miss it! We went every day they were open during our visit to Glacier National Park and we cannot wait to visit them again next trip. After a couple days the owners felt like friends and family. It’s a restaurant you will feel so good about supporting, the owners are so kind and the food is that delicious! And nutritious! You’ll feel energized to get out for a hike in beautiful Glacier. Definitely get the lemon tart - one of the best treats we’ve ever had. Enjoy!

Plant Based Perfection! - Edit
Wow! This place was incredible and the highlight of our trip to Glacier. Although listed as vegetarian the entire menu was vegan (and also gf). This is not your standard vegan food. The love and creativity put in to the menu was remarkable - and delicious. Which makes sense, once you meet the owners. This is their passion project and you can feel and taste it. They have items ready to go, as well as dine in (and the food comes out fast). Great for having a cozy meal in the restaurant, or taking lunch to go on the trail. We visited each day they were open (it’s that good) and loved everything! Also, this is not vegan junk food. This is plant based, with whole ingredients, that will fill you up and feeling good - fueled for the next hike 💪🏽 🌱! Many people come to Glacier because they love nature and the preservation of land and wildlife. They are environmentally minded, and now have a way to live that out while they eat! This place is a win for health, our planet, and the animals. Although we live thousands of miles away, we’re already dreaming of our next trip back to Dan D’lion and it makes me so happy this place, and people, exist in the world. We visited just days after they opened and they were already knocking it out of the park! I have no doubt they will be hugely successful, opening hearts and minds along the way through some of the best, healthful food I’ve ever had. Pics don’t do it justice!

MUST VISIT!!! - Edit
If you're vegan or gf and lucky enough to be anywhere near Glacier National Park, you must eat here! Though it opened only a week before we were there, "Chef Meg" has been perfecting these creative dishes for years. Every dish is filled with the joy and love she has for good, fresh, healthy food. She brings a farm-to-table experience with any dishes that include veggies harvested daily from their garden. Over the course of two visits, our family had the sapphire pizza, avocado caeser, confetti hummus, zucchini-walnut burger, black bean burger, lemon tart, rhubarb tart, "cheese" cake, granola bar, spruce/tamarack infused water(!!!), Italian meatball pizza and avocado flatbread. We enjoyed every single thing!! Our favorites were the confetti hummus, sapphire pizza, black bean burger, avocado caeser, lemon tart, and the tastiest, most flavorful granola bar ever! The balance of flavors is REMARKABLE and that, along with Chef Meg and her husband's enthusiasm for sharing their passion for plant-based, gf meals, is what makes Dan d'Lion so special!! Just splendid!
