Not actually vegan - Edit
Owner thinks you can put a little milk in something and it’s still vegan.

Haven’t eaten here but owner’s reply will ensure I never do - Edit
Owner of the restaurant responded pretty poorly to a review that stated their bread isn’t vegan. I’ve been to many Indian restaurants and I understand some certain dishes or sides are, culturally, made with animal products. However this owner called food without animal products, ahem, “rabbit food” and that has always been a look down on people looking for food that doesn’t require animal abuse. Shame on the owner and shame on the platform that propagates the general well being of animals and allowing this behavior. There are plenty of other Indian restaurants who explicitly demarcate their vegan and non vegan options in Columbus which are amazing

NOT VEGAN - Edit
As a vegan I was very upset to learn that there is milk in their bread. We use to eat there all the time and get bread. One time the waiter didn’t bring it saying that it had milk in it. When I asked the owner about it, he dismissed it saying that “every bread has to have some milk in it to make it soft. But it’s such a small amount.” I said “ so it’s not vegan.” He insisted that it was still vegan. He offered to let me check out his back kitchen but I really didn’t understand the point. If it has real milk it’s not vegan. Makes me wonder what else has small amounts of non vegan stuff that he still labels as vegan.

I am the owner of the Dakshin. I clearly explained to her that Roti is vegan which is 100% wheat and Nan bread has some dairy in it. I am not sure which part did she not understand.
