Stunning Library Vibe, but Not Truly Vegan - Edit
I visited Cultivate in Chinatown (Maxwell Reserve) specifically because it is often marketed as a premier vegan destination in Singapore. I wanted a place where my wife and I could enjoy a meal without the temptation of non-vegan "straying," but unfortunately, that wasn't the case here.
Read moreThe Atmosphere & Service
The ambiance is world-class. Housed within the Marriott Autograph Collection, the restaurant feels like a high-end, old-world library. The layout is fantastic, and the waiters are impeccably dressed, adding a level of sophistication that makes it a great spot for a special occasion or a quiet, classy lunch.
The Food & Menu
While I was able to order a delicious vegan meal—including a fresh kale and avocado salad and a vibrant cold-pressed juice—there was a significant catch. Despite being listed as a plant-based venue in many searches, the menu and the dessert cabinets featured non-vegan items.
As someone who chose this location specifically to ensure a fully vegan environment for my dining partner, this was disappointing.

Nice ambience and food that’s unique. Wasn’t crowded during weekday lunch. Slow pace and enjoy. For those who don’t eat alliums, can let the staff know when ordering food. I had to park further away at Orchid hotel basement carpark. - Edit

Cultivate Cafe (Singapore) - Edit
Full meat menu from the adjoining sister restaurant named Isabel, now offered at Cultivate (see pic).
Read moreI went on 29 Nov. The server unprompted said to me, "We are a vegan restaurant. If you want meat, we also have this (meat) menu from our separate meat kitchen". Hence you could eat vegan food and have sirloin steak smell waft over e.g. from the next table.
If they want to sell meat, while I don't personally endorse it I recognise its up to the venue. I object to their attempted BS spin that its still a vegan resto. I thus left without ordering.
I've no arguement with the server who is only the messenger of management policies.
HappyCow regrettably doesn't let me rate this venue lower than 2 stars.

Vegan WFPB, GMO-Free, Gluten-Free, Gorgeous Ambience - Edit
Edit 9th Dec 2025: Just clarified again with the cafe via official social media. Fully vegan (not vegetarian), gluten-free, and GMO-free restaurant. No real dairy or honey used, including for drinks and bakes. Plant-based alternatives are used, e.g., "honey" in the menu is actually blue agave nectar. In addition, there are 4 restaurants located within Maxwell Reserve (Cultivate, Isabel Brasserie, Polo Bar, Shikar); customers can order from all 4 menus regardless of the restaurant they're in, but there's a separate kitchen for Cultivate.
Read moreVisit Nov 2024: Vegan restaurant with a focus on being whole-food plant-based, GMO-free, and gluten-free. Artisanal dishes, mostly Western cuisine. Gorgeous ambience with opulent colonial-style decor and elegant bookshelves, reminding me of the library in Beauty and the Beast hehe. Pricey but delicious healthy food and beautiful space for special occasions! Located within Maxwell Reserve Hotel, walking distance from Maxwell MRT.

High quality and tasty but not enough food - Edit
The restaurant atmosphere is extremely nice, and the food is very high quality - however the prices are very high and the portions are small and not very filling. After my (very tasty) portobello mushroom dish with bean puree (one of the only protein options available) I was still hungry.

Good not Great - Edit
Specifically sought this place out while in Singapore as it came highly recommended. The space itself feels like you've stumbled into a decadent colonial library, complete with bookshelves, dark wood and velvet chairs.
Read moreWe tried the "Selection of Cavi-Art", as we hadn't come across vegan caviar before. The caviar itself was a mix of good and bad, with the black seaweed variety being a stand out, especially when paired with the yoghurt, and the salmon roe being a bit of a slimy mess.
We did have a look at the desserts in the display cabinet, but couldn't justify the price for such small portion sizes.
The staff were attentive and pleasant, but service took a while, and we felt the pricing was quite high overall, even by local standards.

The service is very kind and polite, the food is amazing and the atmosphere is extraordinary. I loved it and will return, despite it's expensive! The whole menu is vegan not "only" vegetarian and reservation isn't required.

Excellent food in a beautiful setting - Edit
As others have noted, it is expensive. I don't mind that for food but was surprised to find that the described non alcoholic drink ($16 SGD) wasn't a handcrafted concoction, but simply a very expensive can of bubbly water -- which we had to open and pour. The food was quite good and I can imagine going back.

Vegan fine dining Singapore - Edit
Very cool place that has it all and the prices to prove it😄true vegan fine dining. I wish HappyCow would make a category for fine dining because this place would show up. Overall I would say Singapore is the anti-vegan so a place like this is precious don’t be in a hurry, Service is a little slow but the atmosphere is so cool as you can see from the pictures,, chill out and enjoy the vibe! Recommend the fried kale the pad Thai, the cheese tray and the caviar!

Fully vegan and gluten-free restaurants are rare… They set the bar really high with the quality of their dishes, not to mention the location is perfect (in the middle of Tanjong Pagar and within the gorgeous Maxwell Reserve Hotel). The menu matched the decor.

Fine Dining Vegan - Edit
Incredible ambiance and service, though topped by the great food. Selection is amazing and every dish we had was top notch. It’s expensive but worth it! We had the risotto, the Satisfying Sandwich (insanely good bread), the Chaat, the dark chocolate tart, the blueberry muffin and the chocolate muffin (yes we were hungry). The sandwich was worth it, served warm. Wish US delis could serve sandwiches like this!

Great, but not worth the money - Edit
On the outside a golden sign makes it very clear: "Singapore's best 100% plant based restaurant and cafe". So I had to give it a try. The setting is more than classy, located in a ritzy hotel in a space that looks more like an English library than a restaurant. There's even a dress code and I must say I did barely pass in my touristy t shirt and shorts.
Read moreBased on other reviews I tried the baked kale and a serving on Japanese sweet potato. Whilst good, I didn't offer the wow factor that one might expect in a restaurant that pretends to be the best. The ingredients are clearly of top quality and the taste was excellent. Yet, it was missing something beyond the ordinary, except for the atmosphere. Because 73 dollar for two starters and a drink is quite a price!
Pros: great food, great variety, high class setting
Cons: too expensive
