Some things are good, some less so.
Read moreI really enjoyed the Mediterranean tart! But the salad was only ok.
Overall I thought it was decent, though some of the people I were with (all vegans) were not too happy
Pros: The tart was very good, Very affordable
Cons: Vegan options not all labelled, Some food is not so good

Simply edible 🤷🏻♀️ - Edit
The cafe is really cute and all but under staffed, maybe that’s why nothing was tagged as vegan. My mother-in-law, bless her, had to ask about each and every one of the baked goods to learn whether they are vegan or not. It was okay, they have plant-based milk options too.

Great - Edit
Really liked this place with great options - chilli, curry, salad bowls, paininis ect. I had the small salad bowl and it was good but didn't have a lot of options. It had 6 options - grated carrot, grated cheese, rice salad, red cabbage salad, white cabbage salad, coleslaw. I found a peanut in my food (white cabbage salad, red cabbage salad amd grated carrot) I'm sure it was a mistake because I think one of the other salads have penuts in it - there are signs next to the glass just ask beforehand. My glass was a little dirty but other than that it was great lots of seating, take away quite cheap. Friendly staff

Decent cake - Edit
Got a vegan cake for 2.99 which was fairly decent, not many other vegan options though and on leaving we noticed their hygiene rating was 1 star, which was a bit off putting.

Served non vegan butter with Vegan breakfast - Edit
The food was ok but perhaps you can look at plant based alternative butter to serve with your vegan breakfast.

Tasteless - Edit
We took the vegan breakfast with beans: their sausages were tasteless, beans not very good, potatoes were fine. We also took avocado toast (without egg). It was basically a toast with a smashed avocado, so, technically, yes it was an avocado toast but tasteless, no seasoning, spices or anything.
Read moreI wouldn't recommend this place.
Pros: Nothing in particular, Cheap
Cons: Tasteless

2 1/2 Fine - Edit
I noticed there was a vegan breakfast and you could choose beans or mushrooms. It came with vegan sausages, a tomato, “hash brown” which was individual potatoes. I had mushrooms. It was exactly as advertised (other than the hash brown) but it lacked a lot of flavour. Most of the other breakfast items contained eggs. The fresh oj was lovely.

Definitely a must try - Edit
Though limited in options, Crumbs provides wholesome vegan food with incredible soups, a pretty good salad bar and a few other dishes which change constantly. They have really good vegan cakes as well. The best part about it though is the ambiance and staff. It’s a great place to sit down and relax with a wholesome and fairly priced healthy meal. If you go, I recommend trying their soups (especially the sweet potato one!)

Nice place in the traditional Cardiff arcades - Edit
Cute place in one of Cardiff's traditional arcades, which gives it a lovely atmosphere. The food is all ready behind a counter so you pick and pay first and then sit down. There aren’t a huge amount of vegan options - basically some salad things (many are only vegetarian friendly), one chickpea tart, veg curry, chili with rice or bread and jacket potatoes. They do always have vegan cakes though which are nice. They charge extra for soy milk which is annoying.
Read morePrices are reasonable and it’s nice that it’s fully veggie.
Pros: vegan cakes, inexpensive, convenient location
Cons: Not many vegan options , Charge extra for soy milk

Nice Breakfast - Edit
Vegetarian café in a nice setting, I had the vegan breakfast for £4.50 which was nice and a decent size. The orange juice was fresh and tasted that way but I paid £2.90 for the large glass and it can't have been more than 250 ml. Personally wouldn't get that again.

Brilliant Selection - Edit
Delicious vegan options, lovely location in the centre and really great atmosphere.
Read moreI have been here a number of times and am always impressed by the freshness and variety to chose from. Although the food is not very adventurous, can always guarantee a good meal.
I took my grandmother (who is quite new to the idea of vegan), even she found the food 'very flavoursome' and was surprised and the wide selection available. She actually requested a recipe.
Pros: Wide Selection, Choices for friends who are non vegan, Lovely quaint place
Cons: Can be a bit of a squeeze, Could be a bit more adventurous

Wonderful Vegetarian cafe! - Edit
The cafe looks unprepossessing as you walk down the Arcade (it's at a small corner, part way down) but inside the atmosphere is warm, considerate, kind and very very supportive. The food is beautifully cooked. I ate here twice, once for breakfast and once for lunch. The 'hash browns' I expected to be cooked from frozen - far from it, they were cooked from fresh and were delicious! The lunch, similarly, was great - the guy who cooks remembered I ate vegan food and - I was looking and feeling very delicate, just recovering from something - kindly recommended a soup he had just made with many, many good-for-the-health ingredients. A very nice place! (and probably the best place to get vegan food in central Cardiff, tho' it is just vegetarian. There was a queue at lunchtime. NB most of the tables are actually upstairs.

very expensive. and some staff ignore the fact you're vegan or don't pay attention and serve you coleslaw. (And honey!)the food is nice enough. but I've only gone here as a last resort on my lunch. I tend to get a subway salad or baked potato from the market.lovely interior. always busy. - so they're doing something right. :)

Nice cafe but not fully vegetarian - Edit
We visited Crumbs yesterday whilst in Cardiff. It is a nice café that is almost completely vegetarian but not quite. They do serve tuna apparently due to public demand and them not being able to survive if they didn't! The owner did at first tell us that they were 100% vegetarian and then, when asked about the tuna, revised that to 99.9% vegetarian. That aside, it is a nice lunchtime café. We had jacket potatoes with the veg chilli and the portions were a good size. The chilli wasn't too hot which is how we like it! Unfortunately no dairy free margarine was available. For dessert we had the chocolate cake and the vanilla and cherry cake. Both of which were delicious.

Vegan heaven!! - Edit
I visited here on Friday (26/6/15), with my young daughter.
Read moreAfter many recommendations & good reviews. I had to pop in here to see for myself how correct they were.
Well, all I can say I wasn't disappointed!! I loved it!!
I had the Chickpea & spinach pie warmed up for me. With a side portion of quinoa, rice with peanuts. And salad.
My daughter had a little jacket potato with beans.
Drinks, I had a hazelnut soya latte & Rose lemonade for my daughter.
Loved everything about the place - the good food & drink choice, the portion sizes, the setting and if course the friendly staff.
I certainly left here with a rather full belly!! And much enjoyed & value for money.
I will definitely be recommending this place and returning in the near future!!

Favourite for lunch - Edit
I've been eating at Crumbs since I was old enough to take the twenty minute train journey to Cardiff by myself. It's the best place for a quick veggie/vegan lunch in town; the food always feels very fresh, homemade, good portions and reasonably priced. My favourite thing to have is the small salad bowl (the larger one is sometimes too big for me!), for which you choose three items from the bar, meaning you can have a veggie or vegan experience without bother. Even better is the option to take the salad away with you for a slightly cheaper price.
Read moreI don't agree with the complaints about the old management, but the changes that have been made in recent years are noticeable and definitely appreciated. The extra tables outside and brighter decor have made all the difference. I look forward to enjoying many more lunches here.
Pros: hygiene rating five, freshness & quality of veg , big portions from salad bar
Cons: opening hours

could be great if... - Edit
New ownership, apparently. Two vegan soups available. I had leek and potato, and it was tasty. I took away a container of the four salads that were vegan. They serve coffees and teas, quiches, curry and brown rice, jacket potatoes, chili, fresh fruit salad and cakes. March 31, 2012: had no toilets "yet."
Read moreThe six big bowls of "salads" included three based on cabbage, one bowl of grated carrot, one bowl of grated cheese and a rice and peanut mixture. As the only vegetarian eatery in the central core, they should do better.
Suggestions: 1) Offer a smaller size soup bowl available, not just the 3.95 size, which was bigger than I wanted; 2) Offer more-imaginative salads; 3) If you're going to drizzle soymilk on top of a hot soup, use the special creamer variety; the regular soymilk separates and looks like curdled milk; 4) Offer more vegan meals.
