AMAZING!!! - Edit
Wish I could give 10 stars for quality and service!!! App only allows up to 4 stars because it's not fully vegan. All sauces and dressings are house made and delicious! I had carrots and asparagus for an app which was smoky and delicious. Trail Mix salad was my main which was substantial with cashews cranberries a bit of quinoa and greens. Dessert was cake with an amazing butter on the side. Tara was the perfect hostess and answered each and every question with ease. Extremely highly recommended!!!

Vegan menu! Delicious! - Edit
I talked to the bartender about the vegan menu, and she said they consider themselves a vegan restaurant that adds meat for their meat eating patrons. It was very clear with their menu. Delicious food that was designed to be vegan! Also just a beautiful patio over the river. We saw a turtle!

Several real choices on separate vegan menu. Ordered the elote hushpuppies and smoked jackfruit tacos. Delicious! Reasonably priced.

Creative, delicious and awesome atmosphere! - Edit
They have a separate vegan menu which is so awesome! Our waitress was vegan and she was so cool! She made me feel very comfortable ordering! The elote hush puppies were so creative and so freaking delicious! The mushroom sandwich was phenomenal (I used a midwestern sauce instead of the spicy sauce it came with)! The fries were so good! They even had vegan dessert which was 10/10! I can’t wait to go back here!

Nice brewery and brunch - Edit
I’ve been coming to the Crooked Ewe for several years. They upgrade their menu every few years . This latest is the best .
Read moreThey have a dedicated vegan menu and a weekend brunch with items marked as “can be made vegan”. This last weekend I had the vegan chilaquiles with chorizo and the vegan tres leches cake.
The chilaquiles, while not the way my Mexican grandma used to make them, we’re still really really good. Huge bowl, I ate the whole thing.
The tres leches cake was more like a brownie. It was quite dense but delicious . I gobbled it down once I accepted this was not what I expected from a cake labeled tres leches .
Pros: Amazing weekend brunch options , Vegan dessert options , Clearly marked vegan menu
Cons: No longer have vegan donut holes

Almost great - Edit
Their menu somehow continues to get worse and worse over time. However they always have a decent amount of vegan options.

So Delicious! - Edit
Loved this place! I had the vegan tacos with a side of vegan crema, I was sad when it was all gone! The jackfruit was smoked with so much flavor and the pickled jalapeños were absolutely delicious! I also got their vegan tres leches chocolate cake, holy smokes it was so amazing! I can’t wait to come back to South Bend during football season to eat here again!

Such a cute nice meal place!! - Edit
My partner, her dad and I went for a bit of a lowkey celebration meal and it perfectly matched the vibe we wanted. We sat outside on the balcony looking over the water for dinner which was really lovely - we got to watch the ND rowing team practice. I got the green papaya salad with tofu and they both got a chicken sandwich but with fried cauliflower as a replacement, and her dad got it on gluten free bread. The portions were a great size although that was kinda portrayed through the prices. They have loads of vegan options and they were identified really well in the menu. So glad I finally got to try here!

Not so great - Edit
We enjoyed our breaded cauliflower app. It was a good size and very crispy. They forgot to toss it in the hot sauce. The hostess practically refused to seat us in the family section since we didn’t have children.

* items can be veganized - Edit
As reported, the separate vegan menu is no more. Items on the regular menu that can be made vegan are marked with an asterisk. The chicken sandwich becomes a great cauliflower steak. The ramen is also adaptable. There are burger and other options but we didn’t try them this time around. Family seating upstairs & 21 downstairs. Overflow parking close by. Not accepting reservations currently.

Great food, good beer, tons of vegan options! - Edit
Updated 2/2021 - They merged their vegan menu back with the main one, which is sad. Tso burger and chicken sandwich are always great. Pad thai and watermelon salad, too. Ewe tso still consistently amazing. :)

Almost everything on the menu is great. A few notes:
- the ramen is *very* earthy due to mushroom broth
- the honey fried is sometimes amazing and sometimes bland & mushy
- the ewe tso is consistently amazing
They have a FULL vegan menu -- be sure to ask for it. Staff are really well-informed and friendly. Highly recommend.
Pros: Full vegan menu, Good atmosphere, Tasty food & beers
Cons: Often very busy & loud

Wasn't Impressed - Edit
I went here because it had such rave reviews and I gotta tell ya I'm not seeing it. The atmosphere walking in was pretty toxic. The menu looked impressive, lots could be veganized but I didn't think the food was great at all. Please note I only went here once maybe I was just unlucky.

Menu changed for the worse - Edit
They merged their vegan and nonvegan menus recently, so now about 50% of the menu is marked with "can be made vegan". It's a bit confusing and you have to ask what they'll change in the individual items (for example, the pulled pork on one of their sandwiches gets substituted by jackfruit), since it is not specified on the menu.
Read moreThe additional "protein" option consists of a choice between three animal products and carrots (apparently fermented or somesuch, but rather underwhelming).
I found it to be trying way too hard to be fusion-y and modern. The sides I've tried (brussels sprout and fried spiced cauliflower) were good, the main bowls somewhat disappointing. Portion sizes are very large, so a main and a side dish might already be too much.
In summary, the new menu has been a downgrade.
Cons: Kind of pricey, Confusing menu

Sometimes Amazing, Sometimes Okay - Edit
As far as options go, this place is amazing! I have gone here MANY times (my friends and family probably got tired of me suggesting it). I love that they like to experiment and create new vegan items, but sometimes it has inconsistent results. I really love the Pad Thai, Doughffle, and Breakfast Tacos. They used to have some really great sandwiches that the took off the menu (Cuban and Vurger). I’ve occasionally had things here that are WAY to greasy. For example the Tso Burger seemed to be deep fried cauliflower, but without much breading. So the cauliflower soaked up the oil and transferred it then to the bread and it was a oily soppy mess. Also, I ordered extra tofu on the Pad Thai for $4 and they gave me four small cubes of tofu more than you normally get. Overall, I would 100% recommend this place. I would just say that certain vegan options on the menu are MUCH better than others.

Amazing food! - Edit
They have an entire vegan menu as well as a carnivore menu. Great place to take friends who are not vegan. Their general tso’s cauliflower burger is probably my favorite thing in south bend food-wise. I highly recommend this place! To be honest, I didn’t like their beer much though...

Great place to go with your friends who are not vegan: they have an extensive omnivorous menu as well as a vegan menu. The waitress was very nice, and the restaurant is willing to make changes to the menu items for your order. Note that the main floor is 21 and above only (there is a second floor).

Love this place - Edit
We ate here last weekend. The staff is totally on board with eating vegan and was very knowledgeable about the menu options. My meal was yummy but my BF had the vegan meal with Jack fruit, he was not impressed as much as I was. The beer selection was good and I enjoyed the IPA.

Very good vegan options - Edit
Had the jackfruit tacos off the vegan menu today. These were delicious and very hearty servings. I ordered a plate of fries for the table and these were great as well. The ketchup was homemade and tasted great!! They had an entire side of the menu devoted to vegan options. Can’t comment on the beer since I was there for lunch, so can’t comment on the beer but will be back to try more vegan food!
