A must go if you in Newtown!! - Edit
One of my favourite places to go to - the donuts are just to die for (even for non vegans - you would never tell the difference!) the staff is friendly and they do it with a purpose - everyone has a story. Vegan sushi is really good - so many good flavours from miso to bbq sauce to spicy. And the bread: I am usually not a fan of non gluten bread, but this one though is just so good - super fluffy in consistency, lasts long in the freezer and it so yummy 10/10

Hi sofs91,
Read moreThank you so much for your lovely feedback!
I started baking bread when I became allergic to wheat, dairy and eggs, and Comeco was initially a bakery. So I was really happy that you called our bread the best gluten-free bread ever. Arigatooo!
We will continue to learn so that we can continue to produce products that you will enjoy.

Delicious! - Edit
I’ve tried their eggplant teriyaki sushi and apple cinnamon custard donut. Both were fresh, absolutely delicious, and the service was great. Will absolutely be coming back. Wait time for fresh donuts is 15min, which is absolutely worth it but factor this in so that you don’t miss out!

Read moreCustomers have asked for doughnuts without having to wait to buy them, so we have recently made doughnuts available for immediate purchase in the showcase. If you want them freshly fried, we will of course make them freshly fried😄
Alternatively, you can order in advance online and pick them up at the shop in 40 minutes! Hope it makes your next visit better.

Donuts are too thick - Edit
Ordered a number of filled and unfilled donuts. The sourdough is just too thick and chewy. Would not recommend!

Sugoi!!! Hajimashite Comeco! - Edit
They say hunger is the best sauce, but I disagree, it's love! Comeco Foods has deep-fried empathy donuts dipped in compassion and stuffed full of creamy chocolate, fruit and custard sweetness for everyone! I shared six of them with friends for my first visit. Make no mistake, this is the wisest choice. They also have some clever take-home features during the week, so I tried a packet of Karaage which worked out very well with my spinach and garlic stir-fry. On the weekend, I'll be trying their sushi. Please honor your tastebuds and try こ めいこ, which I suspect must be a play on the Japanese given name Meiko, plus an English portmanteau of Come and Eco. Yes. Come to Eco. Come to fresh, hot vegan donuts and whomever Meiko may be, thank you!

Read moreWe are really happy with each and every word you said.
Comeco means rice flour in Japanese. Instead of wheat flour, we use rice flour that is familiar to us Japan.
I love the idea "Come + eco " though :)

Raspberry donut - Edit
This is what I would call a healthy actual donut. Their 100% gf donuts have the shape, the crispiness, and puffyness as traditional donuts because they deepfry their batter. Okay its sourdough, natural and fresh, but its still deepfry, making it healthy yet still retain that 100% traditional donut feeling. I prefer this over traditional donut because of the combination of crunch soft dough and sweet glaze sourdoughey donut. Yum yum yum.

Their sushi range is commendable, everyone should try them at least once.
Pros: 100% gf, 100%vegan

Shut up and take my money! - Edit
Run by a Japanese husband and wife team the sushi by Comeco is exceptional.
Read moreThere aren't many all vegan Japanese sushi places in Sydney so if you're a fan of traditional style sushi with a twist, and cruelty free, then a visit to Comeco is a must.
There is a good selection of plant based sushi rolls, sourdough donuts and of course matcha tea. Everything has that light and fresh flavor you'd expect from authentic Japanese cuisine. We got a few takeaway rolls, sourdoughnuts and tea, and walked down the road to Sydney park to enjoy them in the sun.
Looks like they also do onigiri, but sadly none available on the day we went.
10/10 will be eating again.
Pros: Authentic, Great flavour
Cons: None

So good I had to come back for more - Edit
I love this place! They use such incredibly good quality ingredients and I was blown away by the sushi. It is by far the best sushi I have ever tried, including things from my pre-vegan days (special mention goes to the miso eggplant and the chicken katsu sushi). Their sourdough donuts are such a unique idea and taste amazing, I can’t wait to try every flavour! They make them on the spot, so having them hot off the press was extra delightful. Lastly I had the sesame latte, which was indescribably delicious with perfectly balanced flavours. Try if you are nearby!

Doughnuts to die for! - Edit
I tried the cinnamon doughnut and the chocolate custard doughnut. They took about 10 minutes to prepare and were served warm (the doughnut was warm, the custard was cold). They were indulgent and absolutely delicious. Really dense dough which I love. The service was super-friendly. I will definitely go back!
