Inn with an ice cream parlor offering a few vegan ice cream options. NOTE: Reported August 2023 to have limited vegan options – please send updates to HappyCow. Open Mon-Wed 12:00pm-9:00pm, Thu-Sun 12:00pm-10:00pm.
Although it’s not as good as Ben & Jerry’s located a few blocks away, I was pleased to be able to choose from 6 vegan flavors: vanilla, Oreo, mint chip, pistachio, mocha, and raspberry. We tried the Oreo, mint chip, pistachio, and mocha. Mint chip was the best with Mocha as a close 2nd.
They also have a super cute boutique shop with locally made products. If you want to support local, come here.
Loved that they have a good number of vegan options. We got the pistachio one... A bit less creamy than other home made ice cream I had (not sure if this had to do with it being vegan or not), but tasted good nonetheless.
Of all the different places to get ice cream in the Watkins Glen/Ithaca area, this is your best option. Purity in Ithaca has Chicago Soy Ice Cream and the other place down the street from here has the soft serve, both of which are ok. Colonial is homemade. It's a little less creamy but still just as good as typical vegan ice cream. They use coconut and almost milks to make their ice cream. I had the chocolate oreo, my fiance had mint chocolate chip. We both loved it. There is typically live music and places to sit outside or inside. Your best bet is to grab dinner at Wildflower, try a beer from Crooked Rooster (attached with Wildflower) and then walk over to Colonial for some ice cream.
