Gluten-free Vegan Bakery

We had one of the oddest experiences in Japan at Cocopan Bakery. We arrived quite hungry for a late lunch and ordered the hummus sandwich from the menu and the pizza bread and vege bread from the glass display.
Our warmed up bread arrived to the table but after a long phone call the lady working there (a staff person, not the owner) came to us, profusely apologized and said that since they were missing an ingredient, she could not sell us the hummus sandwich and she would have to refund us. I asked what ingredient was missing, and the she said avocado. Since there were already plenty of other vegetables in the sandwich, I said it was not problem and that I didn't mind if there was no avocado. She looked really uncomfortable and went on to make another phone call.
After coming back, she apologized yet again and said that since the owner had not tried the sandwich without avocado, he did not want her to sell it to us. Knowing that this is an issue sometimes in Japan (chefs, etc. wanting the customer to have a very specific food experience), I promised to her that I would love it as I already love everything else listed in the sandwich, but she was clearly really really uncomfortable.
She made a THIRD phone call in which the owner said that he would come to make the sandwich, try it and then decide if he could sell it to us without the avocado, and would we mind waiting 20-30 minutes for that... At this point, I thought the whole thing was ridiculous and gave up on the sandwich. The pizza bread and vege bread were very delicious, but not enough. We took some sweet bread to go for later. It was nice, but like most gluten-free bread, way too oily.
All in all, a nice bakery in the middle of the island, with a very obedient lady working there and an owner who's risking losing customers because of his stubbornness.

A great little place by the sea! I had the lunch special of the day which was a sweet and sour karaage plate and it was delicious. Would definitely recommend if you’re nearby.

Pros: Vegan options, Great service, Chai latte

Excellent bakery

Cute hidden place, it's shame that they're only open two days a week. Their baguette has a bit surprising taste, but it's very good regardless.

Pros: Good gluten-free options

Cons: Limited opening

Great burger. Interesting bread

Lovely little place. All the bread is mage from brown rice flours. Has unique flavour and texture. Recommend the soy meat burger, it's really filling. And the change the sauce every few weeks.

Pros: Good bread, Lovely staff

Cons: Burgers run out, recommend calling ahead, Not much space, can be full on weekends
