The savior of hungry vegans (+ really good fake meat patty) - Edit
If you're hungry and need something filling and warm and salty and energizing, CocoIchi is the way to go. Just be aware that this is maybe the only place in JP where they actually make their spice levels spicy. The level 6 spice was more spicy than the highest spice level at my work indian place. (Also spice costs extra). Added mushrooms and the meat patty to their basic vegan curry. Really good.

Great warming Japanese curry - Edit
The eggplant curry is so freakin good. I've been to this chain several times before I was vegan, and was SO glad to see they have vegan options now. Be sure to make sure to view the vegan menu, as some of the vegetarian options are not vegan and some contain cheese.

Really good vegan soup curry! - Edit
Really happy that this shop has the vegan menu items available. Unlike other Coco Ichibanya shops, this does not have the "vegetarian" sticker on their door, but rest assured it does have the vegan menu items.
Read moreDuring winter it has the limited winter only dish "Vegetable soup curry" that is a soup curry dish served with vegetables and tofu balls (all checked and confirmed to be vegan). This dish is really nice and filling and very affordable. If you would like to top it with some extra protein, you can order a soy cutlet as a topping.
The shop itself is midsize and VERY packed between 13:00-15:00. I would come earlier or later to really enjoy your meal. Staff are very attentive and polite and menu is in both English and Japanese.

My friends and I went here as soon as we got to Tokyo and the food hit the spot. They have a seperate vegan menu and I will definitely try more of the items on the menu through our travels. Would give 5 stars if I could

Ate at CoCo Ichibanya twice when we visited Japan. I tried the mushroom curry and the vegetable curry. I enjoyed both and was happy to find this restaurant in the food court with no other vegan options.

Had nice staff which immediately gave us the English menu and for me the extra vegetarian menu. Food doesn’t look tasty but is ok. The „normal“ portion size is alright even if you’re hungry, the „normal“ spicy level is ok for average German taste buds.

Read moreDas System mit den variablen Größen und Schärfe-Graden hat uns gefallen - die „regular“-Grade sind bereits sättigend genug, für die meisten Deutschen ist vermutlich auch die Schärfe so ausreichend. Wer mehr will kriegt auch mehr, so habe ich bei dieser Filiale (mein zweiter Besuch der Kette) mal eine größere Portion (400g statt 300g) mit Schärfestufe 3 (statt 0) gewagt - die Menge war ordentlich und die Schärfe für mich als jemand, der mit der durchaus scharfen türkischen Küche aufgewachsen ist etwas zu scharf - nächstes mal würde ich Stufe 2 nehmen, ich empfehle es aber generell die Schärfe lieber langsam anzugehen. Es ist in jedem Fall gut zu wissen, dass eine Kanne mit kaltem Wasser zum kostenlosen Nachschenken an jedem Tisch steht. 😉
In dieser Filiale werden die Zutaten aber ziemlich lieblos zusammengeschmissen, das war bei unserem Besuch in Osaka nicht so. So isst das Auge leider nicht gerne mit. Dem tollen Geschmack tut das aber keinen Abbruch!

Their vegetarian curry with added veggies is awesome. You can increase spice to your curry if preferred too.
Pros: Reliable, Delicious curry, Fast service and friendly staff
Cons: Not huge restaurants, minimal seating, You might have to wait for a seat but worth it
