There is one vegeterian curry base available, I chose Cheese as a topping. There are many spice levels to choose from, which is good, but it's really not the best curry I ever had.

I love the white rice, and the balanced blend of spices and spicyness of the curry. I love the cozy vibe. This is my first meal during my visit in Tokyo as my flight arrival is at night time and I was able to check in around past 9PM already.

Been twice and the food has been good both times. The menu is all-in-one and the veg food is on a different page - they do have a veg curry in the meat part of the menu but the menu states that it has ‘pork sauce’i in it - in English as well as the Japanese. The veg stuff is on a green page. They even do a no-allergy curry listing all the obvious allergens. They also have a low carb option as well.

Decent curry at a relatively cheap price. They absolutely *do* have vegetarian curry, but you must follow the instructions in the description above and ask for the vegetarian menu. On that menu, all curry is free of animal ingredients (clearly stated in English). On the main menu, none of the curries are vegetarian (again, stated in English on the front of the menu).

The best Japanese curry chain for vegans - Edit
I've been to several branches of Coco Ichibanya across Japan which have the vegan/vegetarian menu, & each time I leave very satisfied. This branch was very easy to find & the staff were attentive. The curry arrived quickly and was delicious. There is also a list of toppings for an extra fee, many of which are vegetables.

This restaurant near entrance no. 5 of the Asakusa Ginza line station is one of around 30 restaurants of the CoCo Ichiban chain in Tokyo that let's you choose a vegan curry base for all of their dishes - but you need to say that you want the "bejetaarian basu".

Not all Coco Ichiban curry restaurants have the vegan option, but if you can read Japanese you find the locations with that option on the companies website under https://tenpo.ichibanya.co.jp/list/?c=4096. (as of June 2018).
Anyways, it is always worthwhile checking the CoCo Ichiban restaurants, because their vegan curry is delicious and a cheap option for grabbing a quick lunch or dinner when in Japan.

This famous Japanese curry restaurant chain has developed a full vegetarian / vegan menu - i.e. the curry sauce is prepared without animal products. Really useful in Japan where finding veg/vegan options is very difficult, particularly because it’s a widespread chain!
Read moreYou can customise your curry by having more or less rice, more curry sauce, spicier or milder (note the super mild sauce from the separate pink headed mild listing - see photos- contains honey) and you can also add different vegetables to the existing veg options.
My husband is a meat eater so having a place like this where we were both happy was very useful in Japan where veg/vegan options are scarce - I can’t expect him to eat at vegetarian / vegan restaurants for every meal.
Ask for the english (meat) menu as well as the vegetarian menu for the full details of how you can customise your meal.
Oh, and the curry was really tasty! I had spice level 3 which was pretty spicy, so unless you like really spicy things I’d go for the standard spice level. If you like hot try 3 or 4.
